7:36 pm - my contribution to the banalsphere
I did the math at lunchtime today and calculated that I'd already completed my required forty hours this week, as often occurs halfway through a Wednesday, and so declared that I was tired and might go home early. Forrest says "so like what, 10 PM?" to which I say "well let's not get crazy." Actually I ended up closing up shop at 6:30, barely into nerf warfare hour, which shocked everyone. Sejira declared it a red letter day because not only did I go home at a reasonable hour, today is also the day she put in for some vacation time. Unfathomable! It's a sign of the apocalpyse!

And that's my day.

12:09 am - cake conquest

Vauxelle is mad today because we only ever bust out the Lego when she's not home. Ha! That'll teach her to have her sister's birthday on the wrong day! Meanwhile, we're eating cake and teaching Carbs and Patricia how to do Lego properly. It serendipitously turns out that a couple Indiana Jones camping sets look great as an army encampment for laying siege to the VDF.

Carbs lives up to her name. Her first act upon assembling her orc commander was to have him plant his standard in the cake. CAKE CONQUERED!

5:26 pm - Musta-Krakish
Back at the office painting up levels for beta this week, and they're coming out so freaking pretty. No one else is around, but I know they were here - the coffee was still hot when I popped in. An empty office means I get to blast the dethklok as loud as I want, although realistically I could probably do that anytime anyway.

"Rise up from your thousand year-old sleep,
Break forth from your grave eternally!"

I never get tired of this album.

10:52 am - lupus cures aids
Here's some news buzzing around the office today. Apparently when the immune system spins out of control because of lupus, one of the abzymes it can produce as a result destroys HIV.

Pathologists Believe They Have Pinpointed Achilles Heel Of HIV

Scraps is just waiting for House to have to admit that this time, it really is lupus.

10:31 am - green stuff!
Büttrøck's Green Stuff
Thanks to Edward's tutelage on the wonders of green stuff, I've started customizing this gnome miniature into a mighty Büttrøck. In the background you can see the rest of the party grappling with some low-level skeletons while this proto-Büttrøck preens for the camera.

2:22 pm - adding it up
Following up [info]electricia's post about how the proportion of birthday checks in your incoming mail changes as you get older, I got a couple of nice surprises yesterday.

It turns out that there's a line in the income tax forms where you add together all of your income, and then another line where you add together all your deductions, and then ANOTHER line where you subtract the number on the latter line from the number on the former line and come up with some other number, which is the taxable one. It's all very complicated. I think it would be perfectly understandable if, for instance, someone added together all their incomes, then added together all their deductions, and then was on such a roll that they kept right on adding instead of subtracting at the end. Natasha on the other hand does not think this would be perfectly understandable. The descriptor she would choose, if such a thing were to occur, would be closer to "laughable" or "ridiculous" or "next time you need to use turbo tax."

So anyway I not only got a GWB "thanks for letting me fuck everything up" economic stimulus check, but right underneath it a much bigger "you screwed up a line on your taxes" check, so I'm as happy as a clam. In my mind, they're both conflated: when faced with stupid mistakes, the feds respond by sending me back big chunks of my own money. God bless America!

More photos from the pussy shaving adventure, before and after. Take special note of how removing the excess hair turned it from good to evil.

1:53 am - ouch, I say
I am up helping [info]zellandyne shave her pussy and it just scratched the hell out of me. I've got a crazy chicken-foot-shaped welt raising up on my belly now that looks like a branding scar. The brand, I say I say, of someone in the Foghorn Leghorn gang.

5:08 pm - altered photos
Well, I know it's not news to anyone with a plurality of brain cells to rub together, but Fox News has a kind of a reputation for distorting... everything. So they'd have to go a long way to really surprise me at this point.

We report, you decide: Fox News airs altered photos of NY Times reporters

9:33 pm - Büttrøck Stage 2
Wow! Things have been so busy lately that I forgot what's really important in life.

Namely, painting up Büttrøck! It's been a month and a half!

Fortunately I was able to sink another hour or two into him after work tonight, so I knocked in some of the rim lighting and the ashes on his face.

The rim lighting's making him a little spotty right now, so he'll be a little painful to look at until I have time to go back in and knock the value grouping into some kind of coherence.

Meanwhile, here is another link that mom will not admit is hilarious.

10:03 am - Critical Issues
Here's the mystery that's gripping the office this morning. What is the verb form of "geometry?" One who works with geometry is a geometer, and the subjects of his work are geometric. But what is the name of the geometric act?

Geometing?

However you describe it, we have a lot to geomet this week. A related issue: can a female geometer properly be called a geometrix?

9:20 am - the man with the golden guitar
Stuck in the office with a couple hours to kill yesterday, Rock Band beckoned, and I answered the call. After finally beating the guitar solo tour on hard level, I earned myself the sparkleicious Golden Gibson. (And naturally, no 24 carat gold finish is complete without slapping my custom Flying Purple Spaghetti Monster decal on top of it.)

BEHOLD MY GLORY

8:49 pm - the drive-by
So our producer Forrest doesn't like getting shot in the head with nerf darts.

In most offices that probably isn't a big deal. I can't say for sure, because at our office, 1800 hours is official daily NERF WARFARE TIME. Yesterday we maybe went over the line in shooting Craig in the head too much. Specifically, me. He would try and hide in his hoodie and duck down in front of his monitors, and naturally scraps would distract him and get him to turn around for an immediate get-shot-in-head-ing. (Little does he realize how much tag-teaming practice we've had, sneaking commando-style across the office divide for the last couple weeks to take the battle to the toy division's home territory.)

So yesterday I shot Forrest in the face, causing him to become enraged and storm out the door in a huff, throwing a producer hizzy fit all the way to the parking lot. Naturally everyone reacted to the loss of Prime Target Number One for the next hour by shooting me in the face instead, but of course I liked it (because pirates enjoy being cut).

Three point three miles away, Forrest was driving home in his truck, talking on his cell phone. Coincidentally, he also had his window down. The phone conversation went something like, "those punks at the office, do you know what they OH MY GOD WHAT THE -- MOTHERFUCKER!!!!"

Because, you see, Pablo also drives a truck, and also coincidentally had his window down, and had just purchased the nerf machine gun, and was driving in the next lane over.

No matter how many people he told the story to today, Forrest's attempts to garner sympathy only resulted in compounding Pablo's legendary status. He has cemented his position as office superhero, by the power of nerf.
