So, I'm at work today. It's a regular full day. Kid doesn't have school today is why. It's cool I guess. I get to spend a little more time with him then I have. We don't have a game plan for today but I'll figure something fun out to do.

We are going to New York this weekend and Dave said we can go ahead and get the rental car. We have to front a $400 deposit, but since we get it back when we bring the car back...it's not so bad. I pick it up on Friday around 5pm. Then we bring it back Monday at the same time. So a full weekend with a NEW car. Oh I will be so spoiled. LOL. It should be fun. And less stressful while driving up to NY. Don't have to tense up over every tiny noise coming from the car.

I'm doing sooo much research online about soap making. Trying to find suppliers with QUALITY bases and additives at a decent enough price for me to still make a profit but sell cheap enough to keep buyers coming back. I've been watching "how to" videos, and reading different recipes. Part of a fabulous friendly soap forum. I'm taking this very seriously. I want to do my best at it and hopefully bring in enough extra money to not be stressed out anymore. That would be nice. I'm hoping to get upwards of about $300 a month. My dream anyway. We'll see what happens though :)

So, mom is not coming to visit. Not sure if I mentioned that yet or not. Took too long to confirm with me that she would have a ride to the airport. Sadly though, when I told her it was off, she didn't seem all that sad about it. I felt crappy inside. My own mom, not sad about not finally being able to visit her daughter. Like it really didn't feel good inside. Ugh, whatever. I should be use to this type of thing.

Well, we were supposed to have someone over that was bringing us a twin size bed for the guest room/office and they never showed so fuck 'em.

I did get some dishes cleaned and the crested geckos tank got a full scrub down. Striker was shedding and as much as I know you are NOT supposed to help pull it off, he was having trouble. So I had to help him. It was on his face. Stuck on an eye. He bit me, poor thing was scared. But after all the shed was off, he actually let me pet him on the back and on his head and chin. Guess he felt much better.

We were also supposed to have some people come in to check on the new slider door that was put in and fix anything was done wrong. That would have been done tomorrow, but they came early and asked if it would be ok to do it today rather then tomorrow. I said definitely YES cause I actually have to work all day tomorrow. So it worked out great. Well they had a couple extra screws they needed to put in and such. That was all.

Now, I'm trying to relax a little. Gonna be picking Dave up from the speedline after he gets out of work. We are going to New York this weekend, and really want to rent a car so we don't have to worry about what might happen to ours on that long trip. BUT I found out today that they have a $400 holding deposit. So the yummy little $141 4 days rental total is now bumped up another $400. We get that $400 back when we bring the car back, but still. Bloody hell thats a lot. How do people do it? I guess when you use a credit card its no big deal but we will use our debit so it gets taken out of our bank account right away. Boooo. Gonna talk about it tonight and see what we want to do.

As of right now, and my last conversation with my mom like 5 minutes ago, she is coming to visit us from Oct 30th-ish till Nov. 14th-ish. Gotta get the dates exact when we get the ticket.

I pretty much told her she is coming and not going to cancel out on me. I told her I'm tired of no one coming to visit and using the plane ride as an excuse. So she is not happy about flying but is definitely excited to be able to see us and get to know where I have been living for the past 6 years.


FINALLY! *big sigh* For once, some one from my family is coming to visit ME! It feels kind of weird actually. I mean, I'm on my own. Have my own family starting. And a family member is coming to visit me instead of the typical "I'm going back home for a visit." They are now coming to MY home. I feel so grown up.

There is a bunch of stuff I want to do with my mom. She is adventurous and loves old stuff. Philly is perfect for that. I'm excited to be the one to show HER around and see the look on HER face when she see's things she likes. I'm used to going back home and seeing the same old things and doing the same old activities each visit. Even though I live here and have done all that I want her to experience, it will be new all over again since she's never been here.

We have a lot to do around the apartment though before she gets here. My hope is to get the bedroom furniture in here. Move the furniture we have now into the dining room (we are making our own buffet table/cabinet thing) and we need a bed for her to sleep on in the second bedroom. Gotta break down the old desk though. Sell it. So the next few weekends we are going to be busy. On my days off I will do what I can when it comes to going through things and throwing stuff either away or into storage. Want this place to look fabulous when she gets here. Not like the mess it is. Ha.

So I made my YUMMY spaghetti cause again, but I added a little bit more to it.

Added shallots, red onion and some home made olive oil/crushed garlic. OMG, sooo good. The sweetness from the red onions and the earthy background flavor of the shallots are a nice compliment to each other. Mixed with my other ingredients/spices:
Jamaican Curry Powder
Adobo
Salt
Sazon
Italian seasoning
tomato sauce
ground turkey
grated Parmesan cheese.

Mixed with bow tie and medium shell noodles....Dave will be happy. He liked my last sauce I made so I hope he is in the mood and will like the new recipe.


Did a bit of cleaning up in the livingroom. Still have tons to go, but it looks a LOT better. I love my bookcase/cubby unit. It's full and interesting. You just have to go over and look around to see what treasures you find or what books I have up there. I hope Dave likes the look of it. Cleared off the shelves too (above the couch and above the TV) so they aren't messy looking anymore and even moved the bamboo into one vase and it looks sooo much better up there. I hope they grow better too since I took the rocks out of the bottom of the vase. Now the roots will have more room to grow.

Filled Hurley's tank back up (evaporated water) and added a couple little plants to his above tank basking area. Haven't seen him go all the way up yet but he is interested. Looks nice too. Not as spars as it was. I checked out his shell too and tried to pull off a scute on his back that is more then ready to fall off but it won't budge in one small spot. Looks weird to me too so I will take a pic of it tomorrow and see if the turtle forum I'm part of can give me an idea of what to do. I hope it's not infected. Lots of other scutes have come off nicely and a few I was able to pop off on my own to help him out. His shell looks a bit rugged on the dome but the sides/tail end/and neck area are looking soooo nice. Smooth and shiny. My pretty boy.

The cats are doing well. Jak is going to the vet very soon to get an allergy test and to see what else could be cause the hair loss. I think his skin is actually itchy cause in the naked spots he gets super happy when I scratch. Doesn't look like parasites or anything, so I have to see what the vet thinks. Poor boy. Looks so scrappy. And his tail tip is sensitive too. Meows when I try to look at it. I used to be able to tug and scratch and tickle his tail with no problems. So I know he is uncomfortable. Oh and the little fucker, all 20lbs of him jumped at the window screen after a bird and ripped a little of it. SOOO MAD. I'm going to lie to management and say a bird hit the window and some how ripped the screen and ask for a new one.

Joe is still fat. Still tries to take over your pillow at night. Bite you on the fingers if you ignore him. Same old Joe. We love him to bits.

Pip is good. Was helping me clean up in the kitchen today and was interested in dinner till he met the onions. LOL. Poor thing. I washed his face off so he wouldn't get any sulfur in his eyes. He was playing hard core with some toys while I was re-doing the decor in the living room. That mouse and little ball must have done something pretty bad for him to go that wild with them. Ha. It was a funny sight.

Right now I'm just waiting on Dave to get home so we can eat.....ooop, he just walked in.

So, we are trying to set things up to get my mom out for a visit. End of October, for two weeks into November. She wants to come, just needs to make sure she will have a ride to the airport and make sure things are going to be taken care of while she's away.

It will be nice to have her here. I know there is tons that she would love to see and experience. Plus, I will finally have someone from my family out to see where I have been living for the past 6 years. I'm tired of always having to go back home. It's their turn now :)

I tidied up a bit in the living room and a little in the bed room. Need to get the dishes put away/wash dirty ones and then the kitchen will be nice. Swept up the balcony. Moved a bird feeder in hopes of not having as much of a mess on the floor with seeds and corn pieces. Never again will I buy that food. It was basically full of corn. Barely any seed. What a waste.

Sent mom and dad a little box today. Had as much cash as we could spare at the moment. And a couple other little trinkets for mom to enjoy. They need the money to pay grandma back cause they needed some money for dad's medical stuff. They will get it by Saturday at the latest. She was shocked when I told her just now on the phone that I sent it. She asked us last night if we could spare some money and I said I would send something out tomorrow (now today) and she I guess didn't think I would come through. Neither did grandma apparently. She told mom "good luck with that" which I thought was kind of rude. Well she will be surprised then won't she?

Ok, thats all for now. My belly is upset. Not sure why. I need to go snuggle Jak for a bit and try to feel better before tackling the dishes in the kitchen.

Well, got up in a grumpy mood. Didn't get to sleep as well as I thought.

An insurance guy came and looked at the apartment. Management had them come out to check everyones apartments. I showed him the moldy bathroom floor and the mold coming in through the vents and said the fridge is messed up. We'll see what happens.

I'm sippin my ice coffee and have hash browns. Hope the rest of the day goes well. Not in too bad of a mood anymore, but still.

also, I keep getting a call from the same number and it only rings a couple times then they hang up. Weird. I should call the number back.

So I went on a little hunt today for free perfume samples. Well I did quite well.

Only two of them were those cheapo samples on paper, but the rest were all vials/sprays and even a few tester size bottles/new ones.

Got some for me and Dave. He will be very happy about the ones I got too. :)

Was a good day today. Took back some shoes cause they didn't fit right, and exchanged them for two pairs that were seriously discounted and even made back $7 and some change. Cool right? GO me for bargains today.


Gonna send mom and dad some money tomorrow. They should get it by friday at the latest. Hopefully sooner. Picking Dave up from work today. Then gonna eat my Charlie Brown's left over NY Strip Steak for dinner. Mmmmm.

So lately I noticed we needed to get new bulbs for the car headlights. We finally do and when we went to put them in just now, we saw that the old bulbs were from '99!!! the year the car was built! Crazy right? I'm surprised they were even still lit. So we put in the new ones and later when it gets dark I'm going to pull up to a wall and see how level the headlight units are. Hopefully I won't have to mess with them, but we'll see. Plus I'll get to see how much brighter the bulbs are.

Anyway, we had breakfast and it was yummy. Took a lot home though cause for some reason we both got full quicker then we normally do. Then we walked it off at Walmart and got a couple things ie: mouse for my hair, fuel system cleaner, headlight bulbs, and um...some munchies or whatever.

Dave was able to get tickets to a musical playing at the Prince Theatre. We are going tonight. I'm very excited. Got good seats too - 2nd row / center

I'm taking the train in cause i don't feel like trying to find parking. We are going to get some small and quick for dinner before the show. I'll probably just get a salad or something. Didn't have anything fancy to wear so it's jeans a nice top.

Nothing else is really going on. I get my paycheck for next week early. Get it tomorrow. That's always nice when it happens. I am going to get my license renewed next week. I'll have money then to do it. Was gonna do it today but, guess not. Bank account tells me NO.

I have some new friends I chat with online from Bristol, England. Super cool people. So nice. I ordered/bid on/bought/whatever a nice webcam with built in mic from eBay.



I'm dying for it to come in the mail. It's going to be a lot of fun. Plus I'm part of Skype so I can now video chat with my buddy, Lloyd. He has been nice enough to let me see him on cam so he will like to see the world over in america. LOL. He wants to meet Dave too. :)

Ok, so I wasn't able to get home in time for my awesome mail dude so I had to wait till today/this morning to get my packages from the post office.

Yesterday being my 25th b-day, I decided last week to spoil myself and hit up ebay and such...

Well here is what I got, as well as a questions on style names and on authenticity of an item...

Yup. it's the big day.

When I got to work this morning, the kid I nanny for, first thing out of his mouth...
"Did you look inside your present? Today your birthday? I love your birthday...go look in your present."

I mean, how cute is that?! Anyway, when the dad left and I got the kid settled with his morning show, I went up and saw a HUGE gift bag on the dining table. The bag TALKS too. LOL. And the card was adorable, and of course talks. Got a gift card for McCormick&Schmichs Seafood restaurant, the cute card, a GORGEOUS make up case (the kind that is a fabric box that zips shut) with a matching purse size case. Also a BIG coffee mug with a stuffed character in it holding a cup of coffee an you pull a string and it shakes. Get it? NEED COFFEEEEEE....buzzzbuzzbuzzz......get it? LOL. My boss knows me too well. It's scary. I was so surprised he did all that. I mean he is doing enough with paying me for two extra weeks (weeks I am not working mind you) this month to help me still pay my bills and have time to find a second income. So this was super nice of him. The kid was too excited for me to get my present. I gave him a huge hug and tickled him and let him know how much I loved everything.

I'm sticking around for a little bit because my boss has a guy coming to measure some stuff in the kitchen and obviously some one needs to be here to let him in/out. Hope he gets here soon so I can make it home in time for the mail man. I wonder if I will be getting anything from ebay that I won. Yeah, I got MYSELF some gifts for my b-day but only because they were great deals and I needed retail therapy.

Oh, I also got a card from the neighbors across the street from where I work. I pet sit their dog McQueen:

It was a totally cute card with a dog on the front of course. They put in $20!!! I feel like their kid, it was so sweet. And of course they signed MccQueen's name. I'm his "girlfriend" (like, chic friend, not the other kind, ew) so they always stop by the house with him for a visit. They are such a great couple. I hung out with them on Monday for a little bit. Had some pink lemonade (sooo good). Played with McQueen. It was nice.


Dave has something planned for when he gets home. Not sure what though. He even told me this morning that he requested to leave early today too so we could have dinner at a decent time. How sweet! He's all worried the present he ordered for me won't show up today. He didn't have to get me anything so I'm not gonna be upset i fI have to wait another day. Silly man. Also he got dinner for us last night and even though he wanted to take me out tonight for my birthday, I thought because he bought it last night he couldn't do it today...well I was wrong. He said he would take me to Charlie Browns! Mmmm, steaks! Cause yesterday I said I wanted Olive Garden and for my birthday to have a romantic home cooked meal at home. I wanted to cook with him. But you can't tell me about Charlie Browns and expect me to turn it down, oh no! Hahaha.

I changed it up this morning and instead of Dunkin Donuts ice coffee, I went to Wawa and got my yummy french vanilla Kona coffee. It was chilly and I needed to warm my insides. Its sooo yummy. I'm trying to keep telling myself I'm not a coffee drinker. I don't NEED it. And I don't have it multiple times out of the day. Just the morning. Thats it. Also got a donut. Shhh, don't tell my diet. Man, I haven't had a donut in a LONG ass time. My body shook a little from all the sugar.

Today is beautiful. Only gonna hit 76 degrees and will be sunny. Fall is coming and I'm one happy chic for that. I love fall cause I get to wear light hoodies and sweaters and such. Plus I get t snuggle a little closer to Dave at night. :)

Seriously though, hoo-f'ing-ra! Finally gonna be 25. I will finally feel like an adult. Even better news...I can rent a car now with no added fee's for being under 25. So when we go to Dave's mom we will RENT a freakin car for the weekend and not stress ours out. So from now on we will take a little over $100 and put that aside for NY trips and rent the car from Thurs-Tues (off peak days, plus I want to enjoy the car). I'm hoping we can do that next month. Or the end of this month. I miss her.

Anyway, Dave has a special gift for me and I'm super excited to see what it is (he is making me wait till tomorrow, ugh, the nerve :P). It could be a cardboard box and it will still be awesome. LOL.
