Somebody's Journal

You can congratulate me again, because not only have I got a job, I'm also getting my diploma. ;-) Got a 7 for my thesis, and I've just been to the education desk to see if everything's in order, and I'll be getting my diploma somewhere in the last week of november. :D

Who'd have thought, after all the drama and the angst, that I would manage to get my hands on that slip of paper, after all? Not me. *flails around madly with glee*

I have handed in the thesis. \o/ I didn't entirely do it the way I was supposed to, so now I have to ask you all to keep your fingers crossed that I make it to a 6, anyway. I hope so. I should. *wibble*

But OMG, succeed or fail, I'm finished. It's... not really sinking in. I only just realised that, actually, I have no reason to ever walk this building again. Like, ever. That's just... o_O

1. What? I'm bored. And kinda tipsy.

2. I have finished watching all the Supernatural eps for a second time, and damn, why aren't you all watching this? I have a feeling at least half my flist would appreciate it. It's about two brothers hunting supernatural beings, and they're kinda cheesy/angsty/funny, and yeah, here there be loads and loads of Wincesty fanfic.

3. And so, my first Supernatural rec, because I'm telling people about it left, right, and centre: Bad Blood by astolat. Because, damn. It's silly, and your typical fuck-or-die fic, but somehow it manages to get Sam and Dean's voices just right (and, yeah, you just know that's exactly what Dean would do if something like this ever happened), and the awkward well-I-guess-we-gotta-do-this sex is one of the hottest things I've ever read. (There's a wee sequel called Bad Company, which isn't as funny, but does wrap the story up nicely.)

4. The song in the title of this post is Drop The Pilot by Joan Armatrading. The lyrics make no sense whatsoever but it never fails to cheer me up.

Am once again approaching deadline for thesis. Am once again way, way behind on it. It's supposed to be graded by next Wednesday, and I can only hope that both my supervisors will be there next week and are quick reads. Why, why do I do this every time? *facepalms*

None of the people I tagged for the six things meme have done it as yet. I have a very modest flist. Or a very absent flist, in some cases. :p

Yeah, just trying to distract myself from the ravenous butterflies on crack which are gorging on my stomach. Wow, that's a bad metaphor. How much do I rock at those? *g*

So, I went to see Order of the Phoenix with sileas today.

My first reaction was: OMG visuals! PoA looked good, GoF looked great, but OotP looks gorgeous.

Also, one of my supervisors just sent me an e-mail (about my thesis) saying that he “was pleasantly impressed by the quality of my introduction”. And that my English was good. HA.

Also III, I have exactly 1000 posts in my memories. I feel like I should throw a party or something.

A friend of mine has got a computer problem: when she starts up her computer (which goes through all the normal Windows stuff), the screen says it's "out of range". Which I Googled, since she doesn't have internet, and she told me later she'd installed a new graphic card, which according to this link means it's not compatible with her monitor.

That link also contains instructions on what to do. Apparently, you're supposed to press F8 until the Startup menu appears. Which just didn't happen for her. Now, I wasn't there, so I don't know what she did, but I could hear her clicking on this side of the phone, and nothing happened. The purpose is to restart the computer in safe mode, at this point. Does anyone know what she's doing wrong? Or if she is doing anything wrong? And, most importantly, how to solve it?

I'd be really grateful for any help in the next... ten hours or so, before I'm to meet her. *g*

And, just for me, is there actually a program that can fix Windows errors? Because undoubtedbly I have about a million, but all programs look rather suspicious.

a) It's storming here. Well, the thunder and lightning kind. It used to sort of scare me (in combination with a lot of awe and admiration) because of the possible lightning striking on my head, or perhaps my room. Now it scares me because it might hit my computer system. Should I feel like a cynic, now?

b) I might be deleting my journal for a few days next week. Or not, if I feel I can resist out of sheer will-power. I'm just saying: I'm not gone, it's not some kind of drama or anything like that. I just may lack will-power and need to do the necessary for a limited amount of time.

c) Well, there is no c)... A and b just looked kind of lonely, just by the two of them. :p

In honour of finally finding the blasted single (they've only been playing it here for one or two weeks and it only took me nine CD stores in three different places to damn well find it -- but persistence is rewarded), and of getting an MP3 converter, I give you:

- emmagrant01 wants to know what the best HP PWP stories are. (via skuf) It reminds me a bit of this, but I suppose it's about time someone did it again. Never enough wankage. At least, in the original sense.
- And skuf wants to know if there's any interest in a spoken drabble-fest.

Oh, and consider this unfriending amnesty day/week/period. Or whatever the name is. I'm not a very consistent person -- sometimes, I'm right in the middle of fandom, sometimes, I'm as far as you can imagine -- and I can very well imagine that I'm not very useful to people, on the whole. So if you want to unfriend me, go right ahead, I won't be offended. Don't be offended if I might unfriend you back (depends on the contents of your journal, really), it isn't any more personal than you unfriending me.) :-) Though I'll always appreciate a 'hey, it's been nice knowing you, have a nice life, kthxbye!'. :D
