last night felt like the first real spring night here. i went to a record store near washington square park and got my black and blue bowl tickets. last year it was the superbowl of hardcore. then i walked to film forum to see if anything was playing. godard's "contempt" was on at 7.30pm. two older ladies kept having near-orgasms throughout the movie because of how "beautiful" the film was. i wanted to tell them to chill, but they were sort-of old. i don't know what "old" is anymore, not since i turned 30. they were probably in their early 60s. before, that seemed old. now i think old is late 60s/early 70s.

i saw a girl and a guy on the subway this morning talking like they were old friends or new friends but the guy kind of liked the girl. (he laughed at everything she was saying as if it were the funniest story ever.) when we got to 53rd and lex he asked her "am i going to see you again?" it looked like she hesitated, not so much hesitated but she had less than 10 seconds to decide. she said yes and he took out his cell phone. she took it from him and punched in her number. it seemed like something out of the craigslist missed connections page, except they connected.

i suggested to a friend of mine that we go to amsterdam and do nothing but smoke weed and trip on mushrooms for 72 hours. 3 days. but somewhere in between we'll get to a point when we don't know what time it is, what day it is, where we are, who we are. it will seem like we've been there for 1 or 3 months. and then, we go home and go back home and back to work and wonder what happened during those 3 days.

i was eating a hot dog with a friend at old town near union square the other day when jimmy fallon sits across from us and also orders a hot dog. i haven't been that close to a famous person in a while.

i haven't seen a roach in my apartment in a long time. i think once in the past few months, and that was when i went into a new sloppy phase. i'm going to spend a few hours cleaning in the morning. it's a bit of a hobby now. it has been for about a year or so. my momma was right: a clean apartment will make you feel clean. i think it's because the air is easier to breath and you don't have to worry about getting your hands greasy when you touch things.

i felt bad last night on the subway because i was sitting down and there was an older mexican guy standing next to me the whole way. i was tired though, as i had just finished watching french cinema. it tires the brain and then the feet.

i'm going to colombia next week. i'm excited. i will be in the land of my parents, in the land that gave us escobar and marquez.

you can always tell who the tourists are on the subway here in nyc. they're the ones who don't have the glassy eyes and the dejected look on their faces. they sometimes look nervous because they know that they don't fit in.

the company christmas party is coming up in only 5 months. it seems like the last one was only yesterday. the past few weeks and years have gone by too fast. i'm drinking wine and listening to the smiths. wine + smiths = somewhat of an emotional state. it's a mixture of good, bad, smelly, evil, lonely, crazy, etc. "some girls' mothers are bigger than other girls' mothers."
i'm going to a bbq in a few minutes. people from http://www.goleft.org/ will be there. i didn't know that liberals had bbq's.
