Am watching CD play with a set of measuring cups, and it dawns on me, he's not a baby anymore, he's a little boy.
Evidence....
1) refuses to eat mushy baby food, and is starting to want us not to give him his food in little chunks
2) stinky little feet when he wears shoes all day
3) that mischievous little grin when he's about to do something he's totally aware he's not supposed to.
4) the silence that ensues when he gets out of sight, and is up to no good.
Other times though, he still wants to cuddle and he still loves his binky and blanket.
Well, it's been forever.

As I read other folks journals on a daily basis it occurs to me that there are millions of little things that I know I'll forget.
I also became aware of the fact that it takes 21 days to form a habit... SO, let's try an experiment. I will endeavor to blog every evening, just a few sentences about CD, right after he goes to bed (as I log on the computer anyway)
So today, CD held his little hands out in the "i don't know" gesture, when I said "where did it go?" which was super cute. I've never seen him do that before. At about 12 months, I thought he said "all done" a few times but he's been babbling uncontrollably, and unrecognizably since.
I've been reading about the uncomfortable urge we have to compare our children to other kids of the same age, Julie has been commenting on it in "a little pregnant" lately, about Charlie. CD is also in the hugemongus baby category- rolled over only at 10 months, crawled at 10.5ish, and is just now at 15 months taking his drunken sailor steps, and cruising. As terita's kids are the exact same actual age as CD (can't remember if they were full term or not, CD is a 36 weeker, so barely preemie), I always compare them.

LLLLLong week

exhausted
everytime I sat down to blog this week, my efforts were stumped by a wiggly, crying, hungry unconsolaboy.
To review...
Tues was my first dentist appt since becoming pregnant. I was worried, as I wasn't able to brush my teeth for most of my pregnancy (well I could, but it was a guarantee for throwing up.) But my teeth have come through with shining colors, thank goodness.
I also started mommy and me yoga this week. It was really fun, although it's more about putting several mommy's and babies into a room together for bonding than it is about yoga. cd is the smallest baby there. Note to self: try to feed right before yoga, so we don't have to do it there. (additional note to self: out of 6 mommies, we saw 5 boobies on Tuesday.)
Wed, I worked all day, and baby had the day with daddy. We had an off-site meeting that I really felt I should be a part of. It was hard to be focused on work all day on 3 hours of sleep a night. As a result I've been exausted, and have not been able to catch up. (I suspect this is a preview of life when I go back to work in 6 weeks.)
Thurs we had our pedi appt. (the one I forgot to go to last week), and we weigh 9lbs 8oz! So we're now in the 25% percentile for weight, and the 50% percentile for height. Also got our HepB second shot. Other than that, the doc was in a hurry, so we didn't do much chatting. Still not entirely sure about the practice. I don't think I like the nurse, but still figuring it out.
cd also didn't sleep after the 4 ish feeding Tues, Wed, or Thurs, so I am exausted.
Thankfully, nothing to do today, except go to the grocery. Whew. What a week.
(also bought new running shoes, in a bigger size, as my feet have grown a half a size, so hopefully running will get easier)
Good Baby

So after many screaming hours last night (from 7-1:45), the baby was really good since.
We tested today how much the kid is getting out of the boobie, and how much he's eating. The magic answer is between 3.25 and 3.75oz. So that's good. I was worried that the reason he's wanted to eat more frequently is that the food supply was inadequate. Not the case.
So I realised today that the baby had an appointment 2 days ago. oops. So in 3 appointments since his birth, I went a day early to the second one, and completely forgot about this one. (they must think I'm an idiot). The rumors about mommyhood stealing your brain must be true (good thing I didn't go along with the DH's idea to get pregnant while writing my thesis, what a disaster THAT would have been!
Am off to enjoy a non-screaming baby, and keep my fingers crossed that the trend continues!
So Sleepy

So last night, cd screamed, (unconsoalboy... red faced, squinty eyes, the whole deal) for like 4 hours.
That's the first freak he's had. Dr. Mommy didn't get hardly any sleep. Plus he's decided that 2 hours between feedings is preferred
Good news, once it was over, he did sleep, like the dead. (meaning I got up to check on his cause it's unlike him to sleep so quietly)
Bad news, I didn't get more than 2 hours of sleep in a row last night. UGH.
We did take a field trip today and went out to lunch at Chevy's with DH and J, so that was our first restraunt trip. C.D. slept the whole time. Then we went to Barnes and Noble, and bought "goodnight moon" and "are you my mother?", and for mommy, the book, "My honeymoon with my brother", which looks funny.
I wonder how long I can survive with this little sleep, before I go completely loony?
