disturbed dog

We three fell asleep on the couch this evening during Heroes. A little later, I woke up when Giles started growling. Mr. Frog was across the room, getting ready for work. Sometimes Giles wakes up a bit grumpy and/or startled. :P I freaked out for a split second, thinking that someone had broken in, until I realized it was just Mr. Frog.

morning/night

This morning, Misters Frog and Giles walked me to Summit Ave. There, I turned right to go to school and they left to continue a morning walk. Mr. Giles whined and fretted at my departure.

Tonight, I am unclear as to how it is 7:45 already.

Misters Frog and Giles just came to visit me. I'm on campus all day today (8 am until 9 pm). Mr. Frog called up and told me to look out the window. We talked on the phone and waved to each other. I called out to Mr. Giles and he got all whiny and excited but couldn't figure out where I was. Mr. Frog picked him up and tried to point me out on the third floor but it didn't work. :D

food logging

I eat horribly. I eat take out once or twice a day sometimes. I eat too many sweets! I'm having students jot down a log of what they eat for a few days as we go into reading Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. I'm using the food log as a way for students to think about their eating habits, not so much for dieting or nutritional reasons but for understanding the idea of how much food travels. (Kingsolver's book tracks how her family eats locally for a year.)

What I've eaten the last few days. )

I am slightly tipsy after imbibing half a bottle of merlot with a friend. I stopped to get some frappuccinos for Mr. Frog and me on the way home. I survived the first day of the semester. We'll see what the attrition rate is to Friday. I must revise like mad tonight (what's left of it) and tomorrow. Oh, the joys of academia.

waking up to scramble

When I wake up these days, my mind briefly dwells on whatever anxiety dream I was having, but then it quickly begins visualizing words in a Scramble game. Scramble as a defense mechanism? General obsession with the word game? Oy.

Mr. Frog thinks I should change my t-shirt since it's got a chocolate stain on it from the ice cream bar I ate. :P I have managed only to do one of five things on today's to do list. I need to get my ass in gear.

Alas, we are not going to make it to the dog park this morning because of an impending thunderstorm. Sorry, Mr. Giles. I'll make it up to you later! It's very dark out this morning. I should probably try to walk Giles now before it starts raining...

I just made a reservation for Giles at a doggy bed and breakfast. :P How silly am I? He'll be there for the week that Mr. Frog and I are in Boston (and surrounding areas).

I am now the owner of a tailored tuxedo with a white, French cuff shirt. I need to pick up a set of cuff links and button studs in the next week. Anyone have any suggestions for where to get them? I'm thinking the standard silver and black onyx type.... I can now go to a black-tie event without renting anything!

I laughed when I read the second panel of this comic about WoW because I didn't understand it. Then I showed the comic to Mr. Frog, and he laughed because he totally understood the second panel.

It's very grey and gloomy here at the moment. At least it's cooler! It's been humid here the past couple of days. Yesterday was especially stifling. The poor dog panted all through the day, even when he was just lying around. I might have to take him to the one cafe I know of in the TC that allows dogs indoors just so he can get some cooling relief.

There are supposed to be storms rolling through today. Afterwards, the air should dry out.

Look! A weather post!

Well, it doesn't look feasible for me to get to the pool by 7 am to get my swim in. If I get there after 7, the pool is too busy (it only has five lanes) and is closed for kiddie swim classes from 8:45 to noon. I just can't get up early enough. And even if I roll out of bed by 6:40, it takes at least forty minutes for me to wake up enough to get over to the pool.

On the bright side, I am up!

Has the iPod touch always been wi-fi enabled? I want! Since I'm laptop-less now, it'd be nice to have something to check e-mail while I'm out at coffee shops and whatnot....
