I sent the non-parrot adoption coordinator an email as soon as I saw her listing. I'm planning on filling out the application at work tomorrow and mailing it in. I'm also attending the soonest bird care class that is available (Oct. 21st). I'm pretty excited, I hope I get to have her!

Day two of my break from training. My muscles aren't intensely sore, but there is some faint soreness which worries me more than ordinary soreness. My joints feel tired too. I'm going to weight train tomorrow and try to do a long run on Wednesday. I want to go for two hours, which is probably how long it'll take me to run the full length of the race in October. I can't believe its in two weeks.

My coworkers are expecting me to keel over any time now. If I can make it through to the race and survive, the rest of this school year will be easy.

I need a new pair of running shoes. Now that I think about it, I need a new black suit too.

Edit: Looking around online at suits, nothing struck my fancy. Either the price wasn't right, or the design wasn't to my taste. I think I may just have to make one from scratch. I could go to brooks brothers but they'll charge me an arm and a leg. I'll just DIY it. I think I can come up with something decent.

I wandered onto cosplaylab.com for the first time in ages. Since I'm on a dark suit kick, I decided to look up turks cosplay.

There were about two good ones out of all of 'em.

How hard is it to screw up something as simple as a dark blue (or black) suit? PEAS AND RICE! It's like none of these freaks has ever worn a dress shirt and tie in their lives!

Maybe I'm just a judgemental asshole. But fuck, this is why I stopped going to cons and cosplaying. Just too much ugly and fail.

I'm heading over to Filoli Gardens this Sunday with Sherrie. Anyone who wants to come with is welcome. I just need to get away from the dinginess of this part of town. I've had an insatiable craving to be in a more natural looking landscape this week.

More nerdation. NASA has two lectures coming up on October 2nd and October 3rd. The lecture on Tuesday, October 2nd is at 7pm at the research park in the NASA Ames Research center and is about the International Space Station. A famous biologist is going to be there. I want to hear her talk! The lecture on the 3rd is also at 7pm, which worries me, because I can't possibly cut out of work early two evenings in a row (the meetings after work have been running very late these days). This one is at the Smithwick Theatre at Foothill College and its going to be about asteriods that hit the Earth. Also very cool. But, I have to pick one. I'm leaning towards the asteriod talk right now, just because things blowing up is neat, but the practical voice in my head says to go to the first one because I might have a very slim chance of getting a connection in the postgraduate research world. If I don't go to the asteriod talk, I can always catch the podcast version of it.

I was beat at arm wresting by a 10 year old girl.

Gotta hit the gym harder, and EAT MOAR PROTEIN.

I ran 10 miles today! My time sucked, but I'll worry about that later. For now I'm going to just try and increase my baseline mileage.

I've come to realize that Anthony (the coworker whom I thought was homophobic) is not really homophobic at all. One of the new hires, Qunicy, is gay and it's apparent, and Anthony is completely at ease around him. He likes the guy and said that he's cool himself. It's nice to be proven wrong in your cyncial assessment of another person.

The one thing that really worries me though, is Jenny, another new person. She's been hired as a teaching fellow, which means she has twice the number of hours as I do, with no experience. She's rather spacey and not well put together. I really worry about how the kids are going to treat her. I'm afraid they're going to eat her alive.

Does anyone remember when I first mentioned how dollfies creep me out? Anyone else remember how freaked out I was by "real dolls"? This is an entire documentary about them. Creepy otaku included.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I got an atrocious free haircut last week and I hated it so much that I had Kaycee shave my head again. I liked the way my hair had grown in naturally. I don't think I'm going to get it cut again.

This year is going to be hard in a different way. I want to be loyal to my coworkers from last year without being a jerk to the new people, who are very nice. I just worry that my coworkers from last year might be too narrow minded to accept them.

Gotta put some pants on and head off to work.

I rounded down the license plate options to two:

1. BUMBLE 3
2. BMBLE B3

I am partial to the second one. If I'm going to be nerdy, might as well go all the way.

I also have to decide if I want to retain the plates for future use, or just use 'em right now.
