| Did anyone watch the premier last night?
I loved it.
I was thinking they were going to be generic and call the death of the bar owner or that cheating wife as the "death of a loved one," especially after we saw everyone else OK.
Then, when they were in college and it happened, I was like "Brilliant!" I didn't see it coming.
I thought it was really well done!
I love this show! | comments: Leave a comment |

| got this from someone seems like a good idea
Please Read!!
LOOK AT THE EXAMPLE OF SUBWAY'S FIVE DOLLAR SUBS AND HOW IT FORCED QUIZNO'S CHANGE THEIR PRICES. QUIZNO'S NOW HAS 5 DOLLAR SUBS. AIRLINES ARE NOW COMPETING WITH ONLINE SITES (LIKE EXPEDIA.COM) TO BEAT THEIR PRICES. YOU CAN NOW BUY CHEAPER TICKETS DIRECTLY FROM THE AIRLINES RATHER THAN GOING ONLINE. THIS STRATEGY WORKS AND WE HAVE TO COME TOGETHER TO MAKE THE CHANGE IN GAS PRICES. PLEASE RE-FORWARD THIS TO PEOPLE YOU KNOW. MY POCKETS ARE HURTING LIKE YOURS AND WE NEED A CHANGE.
Boycott $4.00 Dollars a Gallon ( Pass it on )
THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON. This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.
Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day' campaign that was going aro und last April or May! It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by this summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one),EXXONand MOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am. So trust me on this one.
How long wouldall that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
Lets Try Something Different. Keep it going. | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |
| | Subject: | Roman Polanski | | Time: | 10:22 am |
|
| I am SO sick of famous people making Roman Polanski out to be this great hero who was wronged by the media. He was in his 40s and had sex with a 13 year old GIRL. Every time I turn on the TV, I see another celebrity talking about how it was concensual, and he loved her, and all kinds of things like that; THAT if we hear a "normal" person doing today for the same reasons, we'd want him or her strung up, it sickens me.
I feel bad for him and what he went through with the Manson Family. But that doesn't make this right.
The "famous" people say the judge was just trying to make a name for himself and went after Polanski too harshly because the judge wanted to be "known." BUT, HE-HAD-SEX-WITH-A-THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD!!!
They're making some kind of movie about him that will be on HBO this summer. It's early previews are already getting this critical acclaim and support. When the 22 year old softball coach has sex with his 15 year old player, he gets fired and put in jail. There isn't praise about him. There isn't anything great said. AND that I could see more than a 44 or 45 year old having sex with a 13 year old. But the softball coach isn't world famous. And I'm just using that as an example, because I heard about it on the news a while ago.
I mean, am I missing something?
Do we think he was seduced by the 13 year old?
Do we think it was ok that he had sex with the 13 year old?
Does this make anyone else see red?
If I flip by another talk show, and hear another host talking about how great Polanski is, and how he got a bum rap in the '70s with all of this, I think I'm going to scream. | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |

We'll plug whatever comics or projects you're working on in a bio at the end.
So if there are some you're planning on attending, or if you're interested in helping a Jen out, please EMAIL me at jencomx3@aol.com to let me know.
Please DO email me and not reply to this -- it's easier for me to keep track of helpers on my AOL account, ok? :)

| I got sick last Wednesday -- SO sick, I don't know how I posted any stories or did any work the rest of the week. I lost 10 pounds in one day -- I'll leave it to your imagination how. Thursday I felt a little better so I just thought it was a 24 hour thing. Friday, I felt horrible again and was back to the sick sick sick. Saturday I woke up with horrible chest pains and the sick sick sick again. Yesterday I was just a little sick. Today I feel kind of ok.
I called my doctor on Saturday and she said there is just a really bad stomach flu going around taht knocks you on your ass for like six or seven days. So, be careful if you have it or think you're coming down with it. IF you start to feel better, still eat like chicken soup or bland things -- trust me, PLEASE trust me ;)
anyway I lost most of last week ... so if you emailed and I didn't answer that's why ....

| | Subject: | RIP Robert Goulet | | Time: | 10:32 am |
|
| I'm so sad that Robert Goulet died. It just isn't Christmas in my house if we're not listening to his '60s CDs. My favorite songs of his is "He's Going To Take Away Our Christmas," a song about God telling Santa Claus not to have Christmas this year unless there's peace. We grew up listening to that album when we were little and bought the CD directly from Goulet's store. In fact we bought two copies of it, because it's my brother's and my favorite Christmas CD so we each wanted to be able to hear it whenever we wanted.
Anyway, his voice was so distinctive and his orignial songs were kind of always different from what one would expect.
He was waiting for a lung transplant and died at the age of 73.
Rest in peace, Mr. Goulet. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| | Subject: | I really am rethinking my position on my love of dogs. | | Time: | 09:38 pm |
|
| It's been over two months since the dog began barking at 5:45 or 6:00 a.m. and goes until 7:00 a.m. every day. Saturdays/Sundays -- it's no different. We've called them a few times. They basically have said "F-U" and there's nothing they can do about it barking at that time for an hour.
My mother, who believe me is one scary woman when she is angered, called them on Saturday night. The woman, who used to be one of her very good friends, lied several times while talking to my mom.
She said:
1. the dog is chained out there first thing in the morning.
-- that's a lie, because the dog is across the street shitting in our yard and if it were on a chain they wouldn't be at the door screaming for it to come home and get back here. They could just grab the chain and pull it in.
2. she's busy getting her kids (ages 12 and 16 or 17) ready for school in the morning.
-- a few minutes later when my mom asked why the boy couldn't wait at the door for the dog to get done with its business in the morning, she told my mom, "I'm not waking my kids to do this. If your daughter doesn't like it, she can come down at 6 am and let the dog out so it goes right back in."
My mom was like THAT is not OUR responsibility to let YOUR dog out and the problem is SHE does not WANT to be awake at SIX A. M.!
She has a doggie door in the back of her house, but she won't let the dog out that door, because that would mean the dog would SHIT in their yard and not go across the street to my house.
She won't put a muzzle on it, so it won't bark a milion miles a minute!
My mom talked to her about noise ordinance laws and she tried to say my brother listens to his radio too loud -- which he does sometimes in the afternoon -- but her dog barks all day as well and they have one party after another every Friday and Saturday; so that arguement of hers was quickly abandoned.
My mom threatened to call the police if this keeps up.
BUT here's the problem ...
We have to call 9-1-1- and state the nature of our emergency. I somehow think, "well a dog is barking every morning from 5:45 to 7:00 a.m. waking up our household every day." is going to get us a police officer, when our township only has one or two on duty at that time, to the neighborhood in TIME for the dog to actually still be outside barking. They have to catch it outside barking.
THEN they will just issue one verbal warning. The next time it's one written warning. The last time, I think, it's a 25 dollar fine and then BAM start the song all over again.
I seriously can't function.
I've gotten maybe 4 consecutive hours or less of sleep a day since this started. THEY even let the dog out around that time on Saturdays and Sundays -- or earlier since her husband I think leaves for work at 5 a.m. and lets out the dog before he goes to work.
It's F-ing crazy!
I can't sleep with ear plugs.
Ear plugs hurt my ears. I wear them when I'm swimming because I have to, but it hurts my ears to have them in longer than a half hour or something.
I shouldn't have to leave my house to get sleep. My cousins have offered I can sleep at their house, but that's crazy!
We've all talked to them several times and it's gotten no response.
I don't know what else we can do.
I want to go out there and get all the shit from it in our yard and dump it on their porch ....
I'm just SO angry! | comments: 15 comments or Leave a comment |

She needs frames to house these poems she writes and sells. We can get some frames at the dollar store for like five bucks, but we'd like to find a place where we can get some in bulk for that price.
I keep looking online and find these wholesale frame things but there the ones that are 8 x 10 or 11 x 13/14 are like 18 bucks.
I just have to be missing something!
Does anyone know of any wholesale places online that are those sizes around the 5 - 7 range for buying like 50 - 100 frames?

| | Subject: | Dog Days Part two | | Time: | 02:19 pm |
|
| Yesterday the dog only barked for about 5 minutes at 6:30 am. So, that wasn't enough to wake everyone in my household ...
Today it was back to the old standard. The dog was out at around 6:28 a.m. and it barked constantly until after 7:00 a.m. From my bed I heard them go outside and in a few times, but they didn't take the dog in.
I'm keeping track in a notebook of this early morning thing. I'm going to have words with her again this weekend and try ONE more time, before I turn things over to the authorities.
It sucks how insensitive people can be. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| I don't sleep well at night -- I never have. I have insomnia off and on and I've gotten used to it. So, most nights, I don't fall asleep until really * really * late. But, usually it's ok, because I can sleep until eight am or nine am most days.
But, our neighbors have this little dog -- they've had it for a while, but since summer ended and the one has gone back to her teaching job, she's decided to throw it outside at six F$C#NG am every day and just let it bark outside until she leaves for school at SEVEN AM. So I'm awakened with the barking symphony and, I don't know if you're like this, but once I'm awake, I can't fall back asleep again.
So, I've been going for the past five or six days -- because she does the same thing on the weekend now -- with only three hours of sleep a day. AND IT'S KILLING ME.
So I said if she did it this morning I was going to have words with her. So at six am I called her and she said she was getting ready for school and that she HAD to let the dog out, because it bothers her and her family when they all are getting ready for school in the morning and she can't help it. Then she told me if I didn't like it, I could every morning go down at six thirty when I woke up and let the dog out. I told her "I don't HAVE to get up at six thirty! YOU'RE waking me up at six thirty!" Then I asked her why her children couldn't wait for the dog to go to the bathroom and let it back in immediately.
She said "no one else is awake yet."
WELL IF IT'S WAKING ME UP, I'm sure it's loud enough to wake up the people in your own house!
I'm so mad.
I don't understand why you can't take some responsibility and either wait until your son is up and make HIM wait with the dog -- HELL MAKE HIM WAKE UP TEN MINUTES EARLY for school if it's too much of a hassle for everyone else!
This is the same neighbor who usually on the weekends of summer keeps us up to all hours because there is ALWAYS a party to all hours going on there and we NEVER complain.
But I don't know how much longer I can keep going on just three hours or less of sleep a day. AND I'm not going to take something to sleep in the morning which will put me in a fog all day when it should be THEIR responsibility to keep the dog quiet.
I mean, damn, install a doggie door.
Wake the son up a few minutes early -- he's like 12 or 13, he can be responsible for this -- but DO something.

| I'm having major computer issues.
Two weeks ago I got an error message when I tried to sign on and it went from bad to worse.
The message made me have to update my AOL. SO, I did.
That made my address book disappear -- as you can imagine I didn't like that much.
So, I went to tech support.
They told me some things to do.
None of those worked, so the last resort was to uninstall my AOL and reinstall it.
So yesterday at ten am I tried to do that.
Every version I reinstalled wouldn't let me connect to AOL.
At the last step of it all, it never let me put in my existing name and password.
SO I spent ALL FRIGGING DAY yesterday on the phone with tech support.
I kept getting hung up on accidentally by tech support then had to go through 30 minutes of automated things before I got a human.
The tech people had me try a million things.
Finally they had me sign on as a guest.
I can access the internet as a guest, but I don't have any of my bells and whistles that signing on under my screen name gives me.
I'm so STRESSEd b/c SDCC is this week and not having all my stuff at my fingertips sucks.
The tech people said they can't fix this and had to send it on to higher up tech support people.
I hope they can fix this, because it's makin' me upset!
I've been on AOL since 1994. I don't want to get something different.
But I'm thinking about it .... | comments: 8 comments or Leave a comment |

| The diet/exercise is still going well.
Since June 17th, there have been only five days I didn't exercise and I was sick three of them. So I've been doing well. I've dropped around 15 pounds already since then. I'm watching what I eat, exercising, and not eating because I'm bored.
My eight year old cousin has been walking with me most days. He's very tall for his age --I'm just a head and a half taller than he is. His stride is almost as long as mine and he keeps up with me perfectly. He's got a perfect build, so his little legs are getting muscles in them. We walk for 45 - 60 minutes almost every day.
He's hyperactive/oppositional defiant disorder, so the exercise is good for him as well :)
NOW for the health ...
I've been having throat problems since January. I thought it was my thyroid, that was normal. (I have a thyroid disease). I thought I broke a bone in my neck or shoulder -- I banged my neck on the refrigerator when I was putting something away. Those x-rays were normal. But the pain I had in my throat/neck was still there. A few months ago I went to the hospital in the middle of the night, because I felt like I couldn't breathe. The doctor there made me feel like I was insane and had nothing wrong. He told me it was a panic attack -- I told him, "I've had panic attacks, THIS is not one!"
But, again, I was sent home with nothing done to help the neck pain/pressure.
It got really bad and I was beginning to be worried I had a tumor or something else in my throat. SO, I asked my doctor to do an upper gi. Believe me, I didn't want an upper gi. I hate drinking that gunk!
BUT I kind of feel vindicated, because they found a problem --- NOT that you want a problem, but you get the idea. I have a hyatal hernia ( I probably spelled that wrong ) and my esophagus is very inflamed -- that's why I have the pain. So they gave me Xantac and i'm supposed to take that twice a day.
I don't want to take it forever, so I'm hoping once the inflammation goes down that I can just stop the pills.
I'll have to talk to my doctor.
On the plus side I got my perscription for 4 bucks from Giant Eagle :)

| Well ... I've jumped back into the diet and exercise waters again. I stepped on a scale on June 17 and didn't like what I saw ...
but I've managed to lose 15 pounds since then. I'm walking or swimming just about every day and eating way less than I did before.
I used to drink about three caffeine free cokes a day, but now just drink maybe three cans a week.
I used to get a slushie from the ice cream shop every day as well but get one once every two to three weeks ... maybe!
I start my day eating five to seven almonds, because I heard that is good for your metabolism ....
It's been tough and I still have like 20 pounds to go before I hit my first goal weight. Then I'll decide what my next goal is. Probably will be 10 pounds after that ... then I'll see.
I should be ok for the next few weeks in terms of temptation, because there are no birthdays or things coming up. MY church festival is the first weekend in August, but if I am "careful" I should be able to avoid a million calories. :)
I plan on joining a gym once summer is up so I can try some other exercise machines -- I have a treadmill at home, but figure I will probably need some different exercises to keep losing weight after a while.
But we'll see what happens :)
Anyone know any really * easy * low impact exercises that help you shed inches?

| Hi All,
Wow, there are a lot of panels this year at SDCC! Over 400!! It will take an army to cover all of those -- and each one is important for different reasons. So, I'm putting out the call for help. If you're going to SDCC and if you think you can cover a few panels a day for THE PULSE, I would love to know. There are so many cool things that look to be happening here ...
So, please email me at jencomx3 at aol.com with SDCC HELP in the subject line if you think you might be able to help with coverage. If you're a comic creator, a bio at the end can plug whatever you like. If you're just a comic book fan, this is a great way to get yourself out there.
Thanks in advance,

AM I ALONE IN THIS? THE DIRECTORS CUT SPECIAL EDITION DISC ONE BY DAN FLEMING
You know what I really want from life? Not money. Not fame. I want a law, steadfast, staunch, and punishable by death, stating major DVD releases cannot be double dipped within a five year period. BUCCELLATO'S DANGEROUS BATTLE OF THE BANDS BY JENNIFER M. CONTINO
This isn't American Idol or, even, America's Got Talent. In Steve Buccellato's Battle of the Bands, the groups are fighting with their fists as much as their voices! Plus their instruments are used to inflict physical pain -- not just the pain we might feel in our ears when a wrong chord or note is reached. It's a crazy harem manga, making its debut at San Diego Comic-Con from TOKYOPOP, but are PULSE readers going to be tuning in? Host Buccellato gives us a few reasons why this Battle shouldn't be missed.

Set right down, here, youngster, and let an old timer tell you about the days when podcasting was just starting, back at the turn of the 21st Century. MaCPHERSON'S SCARY POO, EDGAR ALLAN BY JENNIFER M. CONTINO
Edgar Allan Poe seems to be a favorite amongst comic creators this year. There have been several projects featuring either the writer or his eclectic creations, but Dwight MacPherson is taking things a step further by creating a story based on his idea of Poe's muse or inspiration. In the Surreal Adventures of Edgar Allan Poo, the writer's taking Poe on a crazy adventure -- or, considering the works Poe has created in his lifetime, maybe not so crazy of a ride. But what really inspired MacPherson and what will comic fans think when the Poo hits the fan? For answers we turn to the scribe ....
