Postlapsaria Fashion Show, part one - Extremely Picture Heavy!

I was trying to wait until I had all of the photographs from the show, but it doesn't look like that will be happening. Several of the photographers haven't given me the photographs, yet. But I want to give a big thank you to the photographers who did keep up their end of the bargain. You are the best!

New, at Postlapsaria!

I know I haven't updated you all on the show yet, but it's because I'm still waiting on some photographs and hopefully a video:) We have a video of part of it but I can't figure out how to put it on the computer. Seriously, I feel like a grandma.

For the time being, here are several new items, at Postlapsaria.com! All but three of these items are from the show - I'll be gradually putting up all of the show's items that haven't already sold, so please check back!

FYI

I should have already been back in New York, as of yesterday...however, we have been stuck in Florida with car troubles and no internets.

It cost almost two grand and the mechanic didn't even fix what was supposed to be fixed AND sent it back with more issues than it started with. Broke one of the doors (can't be opened from the inside anymore) and both of the locks in the process...forgot to secure one of the back brakes or something like that (and it fell out! just shook loose on the road) and never fixed the trunk. Oh, and on the driver's door, he didn't secure the paneling after he "fixed" it. So, it just pops right off. Needless to say, this mechanic ripped him off something fierce. My stepdad ended up fixing the brakes but how freaking scary is that? The freaking thing just fell off because he forgot to secure it and his brakes failed. Good thing it happened in South Florida, so my stepdad could fix it. Otherwise, we would be screwed.

Yay, Virgil! Booooo, mechanic! The dude had his car for two months and obviously rushed it and did a halfway job. Makes me furious. Not to mention that my stepdad said there is no way it should have cost $1800, even if he DID fix everything. Blargh.

So, yeah, I'll be back in business in a couple of days. I'm sorry for the delay!

East Coast, West Coast, Love.

In the midst of all this craziness, I have completely forgotten to introduce you to our new blog, East Coast, West Coast. It's a collaborative effort between Drew Lindo, Kimbly, Bobby and myself.

I hope you all check it out (and bookmark it/add it to your feed). We started it as an effort to keep up with one another's lives and share our experiences with everyone else. If you have been following my journal, you already know each of the contributors. If not, now is your chance to get to know them. I'll still be writing in my lj, but I suppose I'll start dividing my time between the two, so there isn't any repetition.

Love love,

Keiko Lynn

Postlapsaria Update!

I'm mostly working on stuff for my fashion show (and finishing up some orders) but I have five new items at the site. Plus, I'm cleaning out my closet and adding vintage stuff to my etsy. I have only put up a few things so far but there are about 10 more items that need to be listed.

Want Cheap Advertisement?

As most of you now know, I'm having a fashion show on September 13th, in Orlando, Florida. It's going to be a full event, from 7-11pm - free food, drinks, live music, djs, clothing swap, fashion show, photobooth, etc. We're getting some media coverage and hoping it will draw a large crowd (fingers crossed). Anyway, I'm going to have programs printed for the guests, and I'm selling super cheap advertising space. I'm putting a lot of money into this and I'm just trying to recover part of the costs.

This is a great way to advertise your website, etsy shop, etc! Here are the options:

business card size ad space, full color - $10
full page (each page will be half of a standard piece of paper), full color - $20
plain text with your shop's name and description - donation of any amount

I'm also offering free web and print advertisement to any crafters/shops who want to donate any items to our raffle giveaway. If you want to be involved in any way, please contact me at keikolynn@gmail.com for more info!

Fashion Show/Birthday Extravaganza

Did I mention that I'm having a fashion show on September 13th? I don't know where my head is.

The show is at The Orange Studio in Orlando, Florida, from 7-11 pm (show at 9). I know, I know. I moved to New York and have a show in Orlando. I'm silly like that.

A Rare Bird will be opening the show, and we'll have free food and drinks (yes, free alcohol, and juice boxes for the little ones like me), music, a clothing swap, booths for our sponsors and more! I'll have more detailed information soon.

Oh, and a little sidenote - it's two days before my birthday! Which means we'll have a ton of free cupcakes. Happy birthday to me. Come out and support us and bring all of your friends!

We did a little promo shoot with Miss Kimberly Leemans, and Dave took a few pictures of me looking like a serial killer. I haven't even had a chance to look at all of the pictures, but here's what I have uploaded so far:

All photos (except the candid one of her in the grass, which was taken by Dave) were taken by me, makeup and clothing are by me, and hair is by Erica Zimmerman. Oh, I had to do the makeup because the freaking makeup artist didn't show up or answer my calls.

More photos and details soon. Until then, if you're in Florida, mark your calendars for September 13th!

Cape Cod!

I have been extremely busy (not exaggerating), so please excuse this tardy post. Bobby, Miku and I took a wonderful road trip to Cape Cod, for the week of the 4th of July. His dad's best friend Sue lives there, where she and Jack own the cutest little ice cream shop I have ever seen, Schoolhouse Ice Cream. We had a great visit with them, did a lot of exploring, thrifting and ate a lot of ice cream. In short, Cape Cod is now one of my favorite vacation spots. I didn't want to leave!

Roxy Mae and Jackson Clane

I have a ton of pictures to post, but I have been really busy since I got back. In the meantime, here are a few of Roxy and Jack, as well as a video!

I have the most beautiful, wonderful little niece and nephew.

two more, for now )

Also, check out how adorable my niece is! This is a video of her, right when she woke up, talking about her plans for the day. She always wakes up in such a good little mood. Every morning that she stayed over, she would wake me up by squishing my cheeks and saying "Pudgy bunny, smiley miley." So cute.

Sorry it's poor quality (and sorry for my dreadful morning voice), but you have to watch it!

Also, I'm a little late with this (aren't I always?) but please check out Annette's blog, where she posted an interview with me!

Love love,

Postlapsaria and Etsy Update

I only made a handful of things, while I was away, so here is a mini-update! I have more coming very soon - as well as a lot of real lj posts! I have only been in New York for a total of one week, in the past month, so I've been slacking with photo editing and such.

New stuff at Postlapsaria! Tons more at the site.

p.s. How cute are the necklaces that Bobby made? I pressured him into making a couple of them and I think they turned out great! He named the snail Herman. Both of them are hand drawn and cut by Bop and are available on my etsy shop!

Random ranting/leggy models

Outfit of the day, a few days ago. It was the low 70s when I left, but quickly turned to the high 80s in the afternoon. Boots were a bad idea.

Unrelated to the outfit above:

Walking around in lower Manhattan can give the most confident gal a case of insecurity. The other day, I must have passed at least a hundred beautiful, thin, leggy women. Most of them are well aware of it, you can tell. A few of them (I swear, they travel in packs) were walking into a cafe in Soho, wearing skin-tight mini dresses that left no room for error (or undergarments) and nothing to the imagination...they absolutely know they are turning heads. I wish I could say I was appalled by their wardrobe choices and utter narcissism but my gosh, I was envious. Regardless of my presumptuous assessment of their egos, they looked undeniably fantastic - disgustingly, revoltingly fantastic.

Oh, but that isn't even the worst part. The models...the freaking models. Most of the time, they don't seem to have a stitch of makeup on and they still look beautiful. Like they just rolled out of bed, looking absolutely flawless. I swear, they must wake up and put on a magical cloak of pulchritude. Although, it seems like 90% of them are constantly with a cigarette in hand and that brings it down a few notches, for me.

Bobby, bless his little heart, didn't even (or pretended not to) notice the array of beauties and suggested we go for dessert. I declined. How in the heck can a regular girl enjoy her dessert, after being immersed in a sea of tan, gorgeous women? I felt downright plain, with my pale skin and handmade dress. I hate to say it but it affected my mood for the rest of our outing. I felt like my arms were getting fatter with every mirror I passed. It was a girly, girly day.

Today, I'm back to normal. I haven't been feeling too wonderful but I'm getting over it and getting a lot of work done. Which, I certainly need to do because I'm taking the week off. Bop and I are going to Cape Cod, for the week. He has some family there, so we'll visit with them and do lots of exploring. Miku is thrilled to be going on a road trip. She has her bathing suit and sunglasses packed in her overnight bag. I'm a little nervous to be back in a bathing suit, but at least I won't be wearing it in Manhattan.

The Ten Finalists! Please Vote!

This is on Postlapsaria's Contest Page already, but I figured I would post it here, too. It's the same poll...the votes go to the same place and you can only vote once per day, per IP address.

Okay, I know a lot of you have been waiting for this! I finallllly picked my 10 favorites, with the help of others. These are in no particular ranking order; I just numbered them as I picked them.

Thank you, to all the entrants! I was surprised to see how many people entered, considering I didn't do a good job of advertising the contest. There will be more in the near future; don't give up!

As you know, the subject of this contest was yellow. I stated that it could be interpreted however you wanted, and did not have to be the focal point of the photograph. It could invoke an overall feeling or have a literal place in the photograph. So, please do not judge these photos on which one has the most yellow. Pick your favorite!
Remember, the winner gets a custom postlapsaria shirt! Second and third place will also receive smaller prizes, tba. Voting will close on July 10th!

Ten Finalists and Voting Poll )

p.s. If you are a finalist, you should have already received an email from me. Good luck!

-Keiko Lynn

Edit: For some reason, the poll keeps increasing in size. I went out, came back ten minutes later, and it was a monster! I don't know what's going on. I put it behind a cut so it wouldn't mess up your friends page. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Edit again: I think I somewhat fixed it but just to be safe, I'm keeping it under the cut!
smile

FYI

I have received a lot of emails, comments, messages, etc. about the photo contest. Don't worry! I will be posting the ten finalists tomorrow. I have already selected them and uploaded the photos. I just have to work out the polling and such.

And as far as the fabric remnants go...wow! I got an overwhelming response on here, myspace and my email. I think at least 30 altogether. I love that their are so many crafty people. Unfortunately, I only have enough to send to maybe five people. I'm just going to make a list of all of you and randomly select them, to be fair. So, look out for an email from me, requesting your address!
