p.s. How cute are the necklaces that Bobby made? I pressured him into making a couple of them and I think they turned out great! He named the snail Herman. Both of them are hand drawn and cut by Bop and are available on my etsy shop!

Random ranting/leggy models

Outfit of the day, a few days ago. It was the low 70s when I left, but quickly turned to the high 80s in the afternoon. Boots were a bad idea.

Unrelated to the outfit above:

Walking around in lower Manhattan can give the most confident gal a case of insecurity. The other day, I must have passed at least a hundred beautiful, thin, leggy women. Most of them are well aware of it, you can tell. A few of them (I swear, they travel in packs) were walking into a cafe in Soho, wearing skin-tight mini dresses that left no room for error (or undergarments) and nothing to the imagination...they absolutely know they are turning heads. I wish I could say I was appalled by their wardrobe choices and utter narcissism but my gosh, I was envious. Regardless of my presumptuous assessment of their egos, they looked undeniably fantastic - disgustingly, revoltingly fantastic.

Oh, but that isn't even the worst part. The models...the freaking models. Most of the time, they don't seem to have a stitch of makeup on and they still look beautiful. Like they just rolled out of bed, looking absolutely flawless. I swear, they must wake up and put on a magical cloak of pulchritude. Although, it seems like 90% of them are constantly with a cigarette in hand and that brings it down a few notches, for me.

Bobby, bless his little heart, didn't even (or pretended not to) notice the array of beauties and suggested we go for dessert. I declined. How in the heck can a regular girl enjoy her dessert, after being immersed in a sea of tan, gorgeous women? I felt downright plain, with my pale skin and handmade dress. I hate to say it but it affected my mood for the rest of our outing. I felt like my arms were getting fatter with every mirror I passed. It was a girly, girly day.

Today, I'm back to normal. I haven't been feeling too wonderful but I'm getting over it and getting a lot of work done. Which, I certainly need to do because I'm taking the week off. Bop and I are going to Cape Cod, for the week. He has some family there, so we'll visit with them and do lots of exploring. Miku is thrilled to be going on a road trip. She has her bathing suit and sunglasses packed in her overnight bag. I'm a little nervous to be back in a bathing suit, but at least I won't be wearing it in Manhattan.

The Ten Finalists! Please Vote!

This is on Postlapsaria's Contest Page already, but I figured I would post it here, too. It's the same poll...the votes go to the same place and you can only vote once per day, per IP address.

Okay, I know a lot of you have been waiting for this! I finallllly picked my 10 favorites, with the help of others. These are in no particular ranking order; I just numbered them as I picked them.

Thank you, to all the entrants! I was surprised to see how many people entered, considering I didn't do a good job of advertising the contest. There will be more in the near future; don't give up!

As you know, the subject of this contest was yellow. I stated that it could be interpreted however you wanted, and did not have to be the focal point of the photograph. It could invoke an overall feeling or have a literal place in the photograph. So, please do not judge these photos on which one has the most yellow. Pick your favorite!
Remember, the winner gets a custom postlapsaria shirt! Second and third place will also receive smaller prizes, tba. Voting will close on July 10th!

Ten Finalists and Voting Poll )

p.s. If you are a finalist, you should have already received an email from me. Good luck!

-Keiko Lynn

Edit: For some reason, the poll keeps increasing in size. I went out, came back ten minutes later, and it was a monster! I don't know what's going on. I put it behind a cut so it wouldn't mess up your friends page. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Edit again: I think I somewhat fixed it but just to be safe, I'm keeping it under the cut!
smile

FYI

I have received a lot of emails, comments, messages, etc. about the photo contest. Don't worry! I will be posting the ten finalists tomorrow. I have already selected them and uploaded the photos. I just have to work out the polling and such.

And as far as the fabric remnants go...wow! I got an overwhelming response on here, myspace and my email. I think at least 30 altogether. I love that their are so many crafty people. Unfortunately, I only have enough to send to maybe five people. I'm just going to make a list of all of you and randomly select them, to be fair. So, look out for an email from me, requesting your address!

Free fabric remnants!

I'm cleaning out my stash of fabrics and I feel awful about just throwing it all away. I have three huge bags (the big blue bags that they give you at fabric shops around here) of fabric that I'm getting rid of - some large pieces (actual yardage) but most of them are just remnants. I picked out most of the smaller pieces, so most of them are substantial sizes, ideal for crafts. I always kept them because I make fabric flowers, hairpieces, necklaces, fabric buttons, etc. out of them...but it's ridiculous how much I have.

If you're into making stuffed animals, accessories, etc. and you want my remnants, comment or message me on myspace (myspace.com/keikolynn) or you can email me at postcontest@gmail.com with the subject line of "fabric" or something along those lines.

There's a ton and it's a lot to ship but if there are a lot of people interested, I can divide them into smaller quantities and ship them out. If you're in New York and can pick them up, even better! I have solid and print knits, which are also good for knit cuffs, banding, collars, etc.

If you want me to ship you a box full of random fabrics, all I ask is that you pitch in for shipping. If you can pick them up, it's completely free:)

I wanted to give you guys first choice; if no one wants them, I'll put it on craigslist.

Not Enough Estrogen

I was in a really bummy mood, today. There's something about being dressed up and all alone that is kind of pathetic and depressing.

It's just that I was feeling rather girly and I don't have many girl friends in New York. Well, I didn't have many in Florida, either. But, at least I could drive home and see my family, whenever I was lonely. Don't get me wrong - I love my guy friends. But sometimes I just really need Lauren and Kimbly around. Ho hum.

I have a hard time making new friends...particularly girl friends. Some will say that it's because I rarely leave the house. That may be partly true but not completely! What do you do, just walk up to someone and ask if they want to be your friend? That's how it was in elementary school and it worked out nicely.

I think people have a hard time relating to me. Guys tend to be more accepting of my ways than girls are. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't curse, I don't dance. All signs point to "join a church and find some nice little church going friends" but heck, I'm not religious, either. I'm just this weird, liberal-minded girl who lives a pretty conservative life. It confuses people on both sides.

I just want Kim and Lauren to move here, so we can shop and eat and have sleep overs and picnics. and be creepy about boys that we should have forgotten about, long ago. By the by, I spoke too soon with the "closure!" thing. I responded to his text and then there was silence. Shame, shame!

Bop

Bobby modeled for a guy he works with, who is practicing his photography. He is too modest to show them off, so I'll show them off for him. There are a bunch but these are the only ones that are resized, so far.

I figured you might enjoy these.

So, someone on Flickr asked me to join this contest on Kaboodle.com, and I did...now I am apparently one of the 20 semi-finalists. That's kinda fun. I had forgotten all about it until I checked my email for the first time in a week.

I'm a gajillion votes behind, since I didn't know I was a finalist. and I'm calling on all of you for your help! Pretty pretty please:)

I don't even remember what you win but whatever man, my dress is cute! Although, I have to admit, I have many a cuter dress...just sayin'.

Edit: So, the winner gets $1000 shopping spree and such. Mannnnn, vote for me and I'll love you forever!!! Please, tell your friends!

I have a bike!

I've been super busy preparing for the Renegade Craft Fair, so I'll be back in the swing of things this week. I did manage to snap a few pictures of several outfits but most of the time, I forgot. I ended up making over 30 new things in one week. I'm kind of a super hero. The craft fair, by the way, was a big success - despite the freaking thunderstorm and our tent almost flying away. We had to shut down three hours early and by the time we got home, we were soaked to the bones.

Anyway! Onto more important loveliness:

Bobby surprised me with a beautiful princess bike! All I need is a baby seat for Miku, and a little basket.

Now we can rides bikes together! But I don't think I'll be doing any 100 miles tours with him... I think I'll be doing my laundry that day.

Annnd here are a couple of outfits I didn't show you. I have a few more but I'll post them later.

The cloud is a pocket! It's my magic sunshine skirt.

The last two days and new stuff on Etsy!

First of all, I guess I forgot to even mention this but I listed six new tops on my Etsy shop. Kim, Yana and several others have told me I should start selling on there more, so I decided to give it a test run. Two of the tops have already sold, but you can see the other four here.

The day before yesterday:
Vintage dress, altered to fit. The belt is from my mom's antique and collectibles shop, Hourglass, in Margate, Florida.

I always feel very guilty about altering vintage clothing - especially something like this, whose lining shows its true age but is practically mint on the outside. But then I think, it would be even worse to let something like this go to waste! And so, I have started altering and more importantly wearing more of the dresses in my vintage collection. This is a new addition. I have boxes and boxes and closets and dressers full of vintage dresses - it's insane.

So annoying!

The site is down, temporarily. I'm taking this chance to get the new one up and running, but in the meantime, I'm going to set up shop on Etsy. I should have everything back up (plus six new items) by tomorrow. If you already purchased something, don't worry, everything that was purchased before this weekend has been sent out and according to my paypal records, nothing has sold since then.

Anyway, here are my outfits from the last two days. Not gonna lie, I'm in my panda pajamas today. It's one of those days!

Yesterday...which was an awful, rainy and thundery day and ruined our picnic. Boo!

The day before yesterday, which was a lovely day full of shopping and eating way too much.

I love how I have at least fifty pairs of awesome shoes and yet I end up wearing the same five (and cheapest, no less) pairs, all the time.

Eureka's Castle

A few days ago, Bobby, David, Miku and I went on a picnic. This was obviously pre-haircut, so don't be fooled by the ponytail!

Picnic Time! )

and finally, here is my outfit from the picnic:

On the way to the park, Miku's shoes kept slipping off. So, we took them off and Bobby carried her. When we got home, she was limping! She seriously has the most sensitive paws in the world. But she's fine now...I think maybe she played too hard.

So, I look pretty mean/frumpy in these pictures and my hair isn't really styled. But here is today's outfit...even though this isn't what it really looked like when I left. I switched to tights, changed belts and added a cardigan - sorry! We were in a hurry to get out the door.

Admittedly, I did not take a picture of yesterday's outfit, but not for lack of trying. I was in a hurry to leave and my battery was dead; I didn't have time to charge it.

Today's outfit is kind of boring; I'm just working on new clothing and researching a bunch of shenanigans.

My hair is a wreck. I have decided to do something drastic. I have an appointment with Jen for Tuesday, so I will show you all the outcome on Wednesday. I'm a little nervous! But you know, it looks awful and is three different colors right now, so it's time for a change. I'm constantly wearing it up or in a hat...so bad.

Tessa made that embroidery floss bracelet that I'm always wearing. Whenever she makes a bracelet for me, I wear it until it deteriorates. This one is getting there.
