Most of these are animated, hence it may seem like I've posted the same one twice but it's merely in different sizes (if you want an animatd icon make sure you get the right size if your account only lets you load those going up to 40k).

53 icons batch of the Eric scene, largely Eric but with a couple of Pam because she's awesome. There's also some Pam/Eric and Eric/Sookie. Most of these are animated but I threw in the occasional still.

Oh. lol Watching channel nine news they mentioned how some reviews of the American (mis)translation of Kath & Kim was so bad that they should cut off trade with Australia. Hopefully they were just being sarcastic and overly snarky but do grow up. I doubted it would ever be a hit or strike the right note in the US that it did in the UK. The UK gets the humour because they are familiar with Australian soaps and probably have a similar sense of humour. And when you call it tacky....DUH STUPID. It's taking the piss out of people who think they are superior but actually look ridiculous. And there's a lot of people like that.

My first reaction when finding out the show was getting a US version was "Bwuhhhh?" It's a satire of Australian suburban life. It's meant to be tacky, over-the-top and pretentiously low class. Then I saw a preview and it had Selma Blair playing Kimmy. Bwuhhhh? Kimmy is not meant to be attractive. That's half of the joke. She's meant to be slightly overweight, convinced she is beautiful, thus when she wears a g-string with tight, hipster pants it's twice as bad as a beautiful girl committing the same fashion faux pas. She's not meant to look good in a g-string and Selma Blair is beautiful. If she played a tacky character it would seem more like she lacked class ala Paris Hilton, which is very different to Kimmy on the Australian version.

I know the US TV studios are running out of ideas since they've already done a US version of Ugly Betty and NZ's Outrageous Fortune is also in the making (and probably others that I don't know about). But how did they think this show would ever translate when it's so culturally dependant? When I first heard about it I thought the only way it would work is if the writers looked at their own society and made it markedly different from the original.

But the cast is so pretty that I don't think they got the concept at all. It's funny because they had it on the news here that the show was slammed almost universally over there. And even the newscaster looked amused. Heh.

I think I have to accept the fact I'll see every TB episode after the next one has already aired. Which limits discussions. Oh well, I guess this really will be my no-wank fandom. I'll probably miss the wank during the happy-squee period of the new show. Oh well, I'll squee for Eric on my own while everyone else laments the lack of Eric in the next one. lol

I am trying my best to not spoil people on the books but since I've just read them and this first series is following the first book pretty closely, it's hard not to compare and wonder why they've made certain changes. Especially when the books are so fresh to me.

I am warning you now THERE ARE BOOK SPOILERS IN THIS POST. Don't say you weren't warned. Most points are only about the show. However, I do raise several questions about certain minor scene changes. Thus, they're not necessarily spoilery considering you already know basically what happens in the novel. But there are a couple of things that I can't help but know and I'm not going to pretend ignorance when I discuss a character, especially given that characters behaviour in this episode. Thus there are one or two genuine spoilers for the later books below. Read at your own risk, these spoilers won't necessarily occur on the show (one of them at least) but there were elements in this episode that struck a chord with those "spoilers" and I had to ask....

Barking my head off at the moment, which is distracting me from watching the Eric scene over and over again. Mmmm, Eric.

Too bad all signs point that he won't get the girl, but that's okay, more Eric for me :) *pets* I will make some Eric icons because it's wrong I made Bill/Sookie icons and haven't made some Eric yet.

Hmmm. I keep getting random 'thanks much' posts. Every month or so at least one shows up. And it normally says this verbatim: "thanks much" in the subject and then "thanks much, man" in the comments. What am I being thanked for?

*shrugs*

At first I didn't think it was weird, but I just got another one. That's at least four. I know I'm not that helpful and some of them show up on reviews of TV shows, not fic recs in which I can just assume I recced them and they found the rec. It's just one of those puzzling random coincidences probably and goes to show that people who use the net a lot need new phrases. 'thanks much, man' is used up. lol

Banged out some icons for episode two of True Blood while not sleeping. Only really happy with the sunshine ones but it was fun to make icons again.

Okay, I don't want to be spoiled at all for this series - what's coming up in episodes I haven't seen as compared to the books etc. I want to be anti-bitter or laissez faire. Whatever. But I couldn't help myself, once Eric was mentioned I had to find out when he was appearing. And it's episode four! Yay! Next on my catch up list. *dances*

My sister's taste in men is still down somewhere in the deepest region of hell bashing its head against a flaming wall. Haven't slept at all.
