can i have it all?

balance has never been my strong suit. today i'm going to shoot for some semblance of it.
i, at one point last year, had it going on, like a well oiled machine. (the whole WAHM thing is not easy; anyone who tells you it is, is a big liar.)
and yet, i find myself procrastinating by upataing live journal.

i'm making a list & checking it twice. in no order

  • dye 5-10 pounds of fiber

  • spin 10 ounces of 2 ply

  • pack up packages

  • do dishes

  • fold and put away 4 baskets of laundry

  • wash/dry/put away 2 more loads of laundry

  • keep children entertained & prevent them from setting fire to anything

  • make lunch

  • make dinner

  • do more dishes

  • vacuum

  • make cup cakes

  • catch up on emails

  • avoid breaking ankles on matchbox cars

thats a hell of a list, but I am guessing that if you stay off of the computer except for emails, you can get it all done (and girl, sell me some dyed fiber!)

What? Am I the only WAHM that eats bon-bons infront of the tellie, while my mild-mannered toddler happily occupies her time by playing quietly in her own room? HA!

Laundry has gotten BAD, here! I can't believe I'm telling you this-I have a *clean* spot on our floor to keep clean clothes until I can put them away. So pathetic.

oh, no no no! that is what i normally do.
i just thought today, i'd do something diffrent for a change.

you should have seen the laundry situation in our old apartment. holy.crap. now i have laundry baskets overflowing with clean laundry.
(still not put away.) i think i may have bitten off more than i care to chew today, for my first day back at work. i'm really not getting a whole lot of anything done. the flow just aint flowin.

Good luck with that last one. Even growing up with brothers and boy cousins, I'm still super-vulnerable to Matchbox cars. And BLOCKS. I hate blocks. They make bird toys that are blocks, and even though I know my featherbabies would love them I cannot allow the evil cubes into my house!

AYE! yes! blocks are wickedly painful.
i didn't bring any down here for that reason. plus, they really hardly ever get played with anymore.
bird toy blocks, lol! that is too much.

oh! and your new wheel is exciting, no?
yay!

Mais oui, very exciting! I am learning to curse in new and surprising ways while figuring it out!

How do you ply with yours? I know that I can treadle backwards, but that's proving to be a trick. I've heard that some people twist their drive belt so that they don't have to change their treadling.

At this point, I'm ready to go back to spindle plying. It goes pretty fast, and I like the control I have over how the singles are going together because it's slower than the wheel wants me to go...

My eyes are almost watering thinking of when the corner of the block goes into the softest, middliest part of the foot. OW. Good call on leaving them behind!

when i first got my wheel, i was plying on the spindle too. eventually you will get the hang of it.
since i learned i could do so (lol) i twist my drive band. but i was doing the whole backwards deal.

and, yea, never have i stepped on a block and it has not found the arch of my foot. i mean, it is like they are magnetic!

my list was very very ambitious.
especially since i have been spending allallall of my time with childrens the past few months. they aren't used to me needing needing to do things. i hope to get a good amount of work done after they go to bed. and hopefully they can remember how to entertain themselves.
