8:02 am - Movies of '08
Ok, this is more for myself than anyone else. With ALL the movies coming out, seemingly all at once, I need a list of them to make me remember what to see this summer or later.

List in no particular order is the following:

Hulk
Hancock
Hellboy 2
Indy 4
Batman: The Dark Knight
Wall-E
Umm... Mamma Mia... umm cuz I'm sure [info]xyloart would want to see it.
Wanted
Get Smart
X-Files (I guess)

Well, Eeyore, my fish, is determined to be 'hip' like all the other young'uns.

The best way to do this, apparently, is to get a myspace page.

Yes, I know, welcome to Year 2006, right?!

Anyway, here's his page:

http://www.myspace.com/hotbetta

If you are a girl, show him some luvin'!

(you know, if he gets more popular than me, which is very possible, I'm gonna hang myself)

EDIT: Well, that link might not work, I think it takes time for them to get that up and running. Till then, however, you can do a people search for EEYORE REDFIN.

8:00 am - BOOM BLOCKER!
Tired of being used by faceless corporations?

Tired of seeing how human suffering have spread throughout the world?

Tired of being... tired of things?

Well, have no fear, a NEW SUPERHEROINE IS BORN!

BOOM BLOCKER! (not so secret identity... Xylo!) )

9:14 pm - New House for New Fishie!
Alright!

Thank you all for your input, I've decided on the red gravel.

I also put in my column and my fake plants. Eeyore seems quite at ease in the tank.

That is until I put on the thermometer strip.

I didn't pay attention at first, but I notice some flailing with my peripherals and upon closer inspection, I noticed that he was focused on one side of the tank. That is, the temperature strip backing. He was mad at it! Gills were flairing, fins waving about... Then I realized that the backing was black, and more importantly... reflective.

So, I took the strip off and, Eeyore, proud that he drove the intruder off his property, swam about contently. Who knew that within that calm exterior lies the EYE OF THE TIGER?

Anyway, here is a picture of Eeyore and his tank, then a closeup of Eeyore (same picture - hard to take good picts of fish tanks).

9:12 am - New Pet Joins the Family! (Me so blue)
Ok, I got a betta (Siamese Fighting Fish), and his name is EEYORE.

Howeve, stupid me, I forgot to get gravel for the little sucker.

SO, I would like feedback on what color I should get. Eeyore needs to be color coordinated!

Here is a crappy shot through his tank.. he's a bit darker than usual there, but he's normally deep purple with dark red fins.

Eeyore poses (kinda) )

From my looking up what matches purple, I get mostly the following:

1) Gold
2) Silver
3) Brick Red
4) Fuscia/Magenta (not sure about this, I don't want Eeyore to be sexually confused!)
5) Light green

Hmm... What do you guys think?

12:57 am - Adowable!
Well, here's a very cute link, although I'm probably the only one who finds it cute considering the amount of cynics there are on my friends list. Possible exception would be [info]alania :P. Anyway I think [info]xyloart said it best when she described this melody as a Jewish Japanese song.

Ignorant as I am, I only recently learned what a Vocaloid is. A vocaloid is a sound bank in music software and that these little characters are physical representations of said sound banks (voices). All you need, apparently, is a melody and the words and you could have the program 'sing' it, changing pitch, tone, etc. Of course, the animation of the video has nothing to do with the vocal software (I'm assuming). You might recognize the green long-haired Hatsune Miku who became famous because of her youtube "Leek Song". It's pretty cool and impressive if done right, and utterly horrible if not :P.

As one comment on the site mentioned, it is pretty cool how all the characters do, or can, act independently from each other, like that platinum-haired girl at the end who can't keep up with the rest to save her life, or the other one using her cell phone.

Anyhoo, for those of you that need a more nerdy thing to look at, here is Miku in a 3-D rendering.. Keep an eye on the cardboard that she is standing on. FREAKIN' WEIRD MAN!

10:44 pm - Breast Grope?
You know, I was looking through my WoW screenshots and I found this one where [info]xyloart's character, Inanis, is copping a feel from Insolentia.

I'm sure she'll come up with a good excuse, but we know the truth...

"Oh no, really, I think your breastplate needs adjusting, hold on for a second.. or two... or..."

7:34 pm - Good Balance
Well, I come home and Osaka does what she likes to do sometimes.

Climb up my body to sit and hang out on my shoulder.... Like a freakin' parrot.

I usually wait till she jumps off, but she tends to just want to stay, even laying down. And I'm a pushover and don't want to force her down.

Besides, when she jumps off, claws come out for traction. Ow.

This time is no different, but at least I managed to get some pictures out of it. Which is great.... 'cept for the last one where she decided that biting my face off ala Hannibal Lector was a good idea.

11:37 am - How Achingly Romantic...
Part 4 of our wonderful animal video series. BTW, I noticed in hindisight that I never shut up. Perhaps I thought at the time that just normal videos of the animals wouldn't be enough. Well, I learned my lesson! Next time I visit a zoo, I'm going to keep my annoying trap shut :P.

Capy's Version of Pyramus and Thisbe?

Capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris)

'“Cruel wall,” they said, “why do you keep two lovers apart?"'

Capybaras are the largest rodent alive and like to eat grass down in South America. Odd fact, during the Christian celebration of Lent, Capybara meat is especially popular due to the Catholic Church's classification of it as a FISH in the 16th century (yes, they like going in the water, but... come on ;) ). Hear that, [info]xyloart? Capy steaks on friday!

More wiki info here.

7:45 am - There's a Manor in My BUTT
Well, people don't seem to care about my animal videos, but TOO EFFIN' BAD. Here's part 3, where everyone's favorite mongoose makes an appearance.

Mistah FunnyHeadz!
(Meerkat or Hakuna Matata)
(...j/k... it's Suricata suricatta)

I always thought that they were named by a slightly dislexic person who switched the 'r' and the 'k' when filling out the "I found a new wacky critter" form. I think Meekrat would fit much better, although they aren't particularily meek... All about meerkats here.

8:04 am - Otter Hijinks
Here's part 2 of our video from the Smithsonian National Zoo. Everyone's favorite water ferret <.< !

Mistah Otter
Otterly Awesome!
(ba-da-bing!)
(Oriental Small-clawed Otter or Aonyx cinerea)

Not a hundred percent sure if this is the correct species. I should read those plaques more closely :P. If it IS correct, though, they are the smallest otters in the world. Their claws do not extend past the fleshy part of their hands, so they are -very- dexterous, like humans :D. More info here.

9:06 am - What a Nosey Critter
Back from Katsucon!

I won't talk about it, though, no time right now :P.

BUT on Sunday [info]xyloart and I wandered through the Smithsonian National Zoo and it was very enjoyable. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the Washington DC area, it's free and you really could get close to the animals there. Nice for a half-day outing.

We saw a new and up-comming star, though. His name is Mistah Nose, and he's a natural on film (video, whatever)! Everyone give him a hand!

ISH MISTAH NOSE!
(Black and roufous elephant shrew or Rhynchocyon petersi)

Oddly enough, these critters aren't at all related to real shrews, they just look similar enough so that people would name them that. More info here.

8:55 am - Annoying Wet Leaves
Just thought this was pretty humorous, the term "nure-ochiba", that is.

Got this from the guy in charge of J-list which I am sure most of you already know about (they sell stuff from/about Japan). Their daily emails have interesting tidbits on Japanese culture from a transplanted American viewpoint.

"A big trend i s the rise in jukunen rikon, or "middle-aged divorce," when couples find their marriage can't survive the husband retiring and hanging around the wife and her friends all day (the term for such husbands is nure-ochiba, noo-reh-OH-chi-bah, a wet leaf that sticks to your shoe and won't come off, no matter how hard you shake it). 9:00 am - Not Too Young for Mental Collapse
OMG.

Yesterday I totally forgot that it was Monday. I thought it was Sunday.

On Monday Dec 10, 2007.

4:00 AM Shut off alarm clock. Went to bed.

10:30 AM Wake up.

11:00 AM Futz around.

11:30 AM Futz around on EVE Online. Noticed how there's noone on my buddy list online.

11:45 AM Get an email from [info]xyloart from her WORK addy. Still no clue.

12:00 PM Little voice in my head tells me to check the date on the lower right corner of my windows screen.

Oh. Monday. Shit. WORK!

So I decided that I'm not going to ignore the signs that my mind and memory is going. I've been forgetting stuff constantly, simple stuff even.

This is actually starting to worry me.

I am thinking of getting a gameboy DS sometime in the near future, do that goofy Brain Age game thing.

Oh boy.

AS FOR XMAS GIFTS IDEAS IF YOU CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING.

... i forget...

j/k

1) A nice wireless notebook mouse with the usb adapter hooked onto the mouse itself. Nothing from Microsoft, please, I had 2 of them and they both died on me.

2) A cover for my Sandisk Sansa e280. I've seen some on Amazon with car kits, etc included in the bundle :)

3) Umm... can't think of anything right now and I have to get to work. I'll just add more here if I can think of something.

Of course, that is only if you're stumped and NEED to get me a gift, I really don't mind getting just a card :D.

Ok, bye!
