Current music:the sound of clean water in the shower

tired and clean
Aaaaaaahhhh. That's the sound of someone coming home from a 4-day camping trip in the rain surrounded by wonderful people, mud, music, and fire. Aaaaaahhh. Yeah. Solid ground. Dry clothes. A roof over my head. These things...these things are accepted every day as normal, as reality. Television shows, slipper socks, refrigerators, toilets that flush, showers and bathtubs, cars that move without getting pushed by 8 to 10 people yelling "rock! rock! rock!" These are things that we get used to, that we forget are luxuries. If anything, going to Playa Del Fuego made me grateful to have a bed to sleep in and a warm place to be. But even more so, it made me HAPPY! I had so freakin' much FUN this weekend, I was out of control. I didn't care if I had to hike everywhere to go pee or to meet some other people (we were stupid enough to park in the theme camp area, which was a moat, 1/2 mile from everyone else). I didn't care if I had to put white trash bags from my kitchen into my shoes, between my socks and shoes, and then add another pair of socks just for good measure, only to have it all be a soaking mess when I got back to my tent. I didn't mind having to learn how to drink heavily AND walk with mud like that. Nor was I bothered by the lack of nudity (kind of a drag, but oh well) due to the cold, or the lack of body paint, etc. etc. that would have come would that it was sunny. I liked listening to the 'thump thump thump' of techno in the background, no matter what we were doing (it's how I know I'm at Burningman...like a sound from the womb).

I met a bunch of interesting people, artists and photographers, mostly, from the DC area, from New York, and even one guy who WALKED from Philadelphia. (I didn't get his name, though.) I kissed a few men whom I will probably never see again, and a couple whom I might see again. Who knows? It's Playa. I am tired, I am happy, and I am home. Mmmmm.

Sleepy.

OPM Den Mother Out.

I posted up a Playa del Fuego Spring 2003 page with links to all the photo galleries and weblogs that I've found.
