Tom Selleck knits!
I've recently been spending a lot of time on my knitting. Now, I know what some of you are thinking. YES this is the same scarf that I was learning how to knit just before my trip to Philly last summer. YES I put it down and ignored it for several months. But NOW I'm going full bore on it! I've been doing at least three Stitch'n'Bitches a month and have been trying to drag the thing around with me when I know I'll have downtime. I'm starting to get excited about the prospect of knitting other stuff (next up: felted cloche). So, as a result, I've started to read the knitting community on LJ. What kills me is that people often talk about their yarn stashes. Posts like this one kill me because it's ten thousand times funnier to read it as a post about a moustache.

"So I was reorganizing my 'stache today..."
"Your 'stache is amazing and it takes my breath away!"
"Can I move in with your 'stache?"
"And I think my 'stache is getting out of control when I can't fit it into my 2 boxes."

I am SUCH a little kid.

PS - The prospect of a knit moustache is even FUNNIER to me.

I remember when that went up; you know that Megan lives in Seattle now, right? Still haven't met her...

i didn't know that, but it is only a matter of time before everyone intersects anyways. this city is slightly smaller than a penny, socially speaking.

ps did you ever decide on joining a gym? I am going to Mieko's again, in the mornings, and buddies are always enthusiastically greeted.

Yah! She moved here from the Bay area nearly a year ago, if I remember right. Seriously, I love living here because I feel like I know half the city, and I've just not yet been introduced to the other half.

No, I decided against it. I'd come with you, though! As long as they don't make me join because they are stupid. How much does it cost to go as a guest?

1) full "bore" honeychild! I laughed uproariously at full boar--freudian slip? ;-)
2) DID YOU KNOW MY MOM DATED TOM SELLECK? True story.
3) Knit mustache! I shall make it my first foray into pattern design!

1. I don't know what you're talking about.
1b. But if I *DID* know what you were talking about, "full boar hog wild" makes perfect sense.
2. Girl, that is the best thing I've ever heard. My Chemistry teacher had a massive crush on TS and she once loaned me "Quiggley Down Under" which I somehow neglected to give back to her. DOH!
3. I'm thinking it should be quite handlebar-y with a nice thin strap to tie it on to your head.

FULL BOAR HOG WILD would be a great knuckle tattoo if you had 15 fingers.

I was going to do double-sided tape on the back of the mustache, but straps might have to do!

What if you did FULL BOAR on the knuckles of your fingers and HOGG WILD on your toes?

Somehow the idea of a thin knit string tied in a bow around the back of your head, holding a knit moustache on...it's just killing me.

Hey Heather, do you ever attend the Church Of Craft, last Sunday of the month at the Rebar?

Nope. Don't tell anyone, but it kind of scares me. Same thing with PurlyGirls -- I perceive these people to be way more hardcore than me and, for no real reason, I expect them to be quite exclusive. Why is that? I don't really know. Do you go? I would not be averse to trying it out, but I could never, ever lonewolf-it.

I'm not great at being a joiner. I went to one of them and it was fun. Of course I went with a friend and invited Amanda (aka Receptionista) to meet me there. So I had a mini gaggle of pals to chat with. It's the first time I had met Amanda in the really-real world and it was much fun! We should meet up sometime :)

Hooray for Amanda! I like her. Is your friend anyone I'd know? And you and I haven't met, huh? Sometimes I get confused when trying to keep track of online names vs. real names.

Also, when you say "really-real" world, I am secretly hoping that you're making a reference to The Crow when T-Bird freaks out and says, "This is the really-real world; there ain't no coming back!"

We've never met (it's Kim BTW).

YOU ROCK!!!!! I totally am! I'm always saying that and you are the absolute first person to actually get it (or admit to getting it) :P

I was Eric Draven for Halloween one year in junior high because I was JUST THAT COOL. Oy.

RAD. Dude, I loves me some The Crow. My brother used to make audio tapes of entire movies and I'd listen to them when I was going to sleep -- the big three were Newsies, The Princess Bride, and The Crow. I think it's possible I had Swing Kids, too. I love knowing the sounds and the timing and everything.

When I'm excited about something, I like to punch my fists in the air and shout FIRE! IT! UP! and very few people ever get it. Sad.
