10:28 am - Um... when did I last update this? Okay, so I haven't logged in here in a bit. I've deleted some friends -- if I deleted you, it's nothing against you, just that I've been neglecting this LJ an awful lot, and haven't been reading stuff here. Sorry!
I've been really busy, and focused on some other things, and for some reason I keep forgetting to log in here. Oh well... I've also been avoiding SV spoilers, since I'm still not caught up on those tapes. Haven't seen the end of Veronica Mars yet, either... :O Current Mood: busy

04:47 pm - WTF?! Enterprise Spoilers... Okay, now hold on here just a second... is it just that I'm in B5 headspace so much right now, or were there an awful lot of 'coincidences' in that episode last night?!
Guess you can't use text attribute tags inside lj-cut tags? Oh well. ( spoilers for E2 )

01:11 pm - We're here!!! We had all kinds of fun on the train (will be posting a more detailed account of stuff when we get home and I can edit the photos down to a postable size -- straight out of the camera, they're huge...), and are now in New Orleans. Next stop is to find a rental car, because we can't keep taking $10 cab rides to places :O
The Bed and Breakfast is a really, really beautiful house -- rooms all over the place, great architecture. I want! But somehow I don't think they'll let us pick it up and move it to a cooler climate...

Ripper! Whether it's candy-induced or the real thing, there's nothing as sexy as a bad boy, and he knows it. He doesn't mind being seen, either, so he's not one for the shy, or the law-abiding.

One of my stories (Half-Truth, in "Silk & Flannel 1") tied for Best SV short story last year :)
They say if there aren't enough nominations, they may have to cancel the awards this year, and that would be no fun. Current Mood: working Current Music: In Strict Confidence - Au Milieu Des Anges

12:48 pm - Fascinating... I answered the questions as me, as truthfully as I could, given the choices. Hmmn... How interesting...
I Am A: True Neutral Human Ranger Fighter
Alignment: True Neutral characters are very rare. They believe that balance is the most important thing, and will not side with any other force. They will do whatever is necessary to preserve that balance, even if it means switching allegiances suddenly.
Race: Humans are the 'average' race. They have the shortest life spans, and because of this, they tend to avoid the racial prejudices that other races are known for. They are also very curious and tend to live 'for the moment'.
Primary Class: Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.
Secondary Class: Fighters are the warriors. They use weapons to accomplish their goals. This isn't to say that they aren't intelligent, but that they do, in fact, believe that violence is frequently the answer.
Deity: Silvanus is the True Neutral god of nature. He is also known as the Patron of Druids. His followers believe in the perfect balance of nature, and believe that nature's bounty is preferable to any other 'civilizing' method. They wear leather or metallic scale mail, constructed of leaf-shaped scales. Silvanus's symbol is an oak leaf.

You're Watership Down!
by Richard Adams
Though many think of you as a bit young, even childish, you're actually incredibly deep and complex. You show people the need to rethink their assumptions, and confront them on everything from how they think to where they build their houses. You might be one of the greatest people of all time. You'd be recognized as such if you weren't always talking about talking rabbits.

06:27 pm - I don't care what consumer affairs says... ...buy the extended warranty!
I just got my laptop back from Gateway -- they updated the BIOS, and can't find anything wrong. Since one of the BSOD's mentioned the BIOS before it clicked off & I couldn't read any more, I'm hoping that's what was wrong. Anyway, that was a $99 diagnosis, free of charge courtesy of Mr. Warranty.
The lady who dropped her computer off before me was looking at that $99 diagnostic charge, then a $50 charge if it was her power supply, or a possibly $300 - $400 charge if it was the motherboard instead. Why? Because she only had the one-year warranty, not the extended one.
Seriously -- if it's something that might cost a lot to fix, the price of the extended warranty will more than be repaid if repairs are necessary, and if it isn't, you still have the peace of mind that for X years, IF something goes wrong, it's covered!
Off to test the laptop and see if it really IS fixed, or if Coyote's playing games with me. Again. Current Mood: hopeful

06:02 pm - Jonathan Kent -- not one of my favourite people... Okay. Y'all know I'm not one for the Jonathan-love. I recently posted a pretty vitriolic rant about him on the mailing lists [I was looking for my original 'don't do x, son, unless it's to protect your secret' post, but couldn't locate it. I think that one was posted even earlier than this one, but couldn't turn it up. Maybe it was on another mailing list...], and it was echoed (quite closely) by another poster today, but here's an excerpt of a post of mine from April 16, 2003. Still holds quite true today -- this is not something that's been coming to the fore recently. It's something that's been around from the beginning of the show.
I just want to understand, do TPTB realize they're making this Jonathan out to be such a son-of-a-bitch? Do they want us to feel this way about him? (Do they want us to hate Lana? It worked!!) I don't know! This show is supposed to be about how Clark Kent becomes Superman, and the only sympathetic characters on it are the big future arch villain, and occasionally (she's had her moments, too) a cool chick who isn't even in the comics. And Clark, more, now that we're out of second season...
I'M CONFUSED!!!
In this post, I'm not sure which episode in specific I was discussing, and can't find the message I was responding to. I do notice, however, that my attitude has NOT changed at all...
