Hey gang,

I'm in need of a flatter. I can't pay anything except experience and credit (maybe some art). If anybody is interested, my email is paul.maybury@gmail.com

Here's some new Devestatin' Dave.

For the previous installment, read here..

Also, those buttons I showed before are now on sale, check em out here.

I'll be at Austin Books on the 30th signing both Popgun 2 and Comic book tattoo, as well as Aqua Leungs and whatever else people want me to sign. I'm still figuring out what time exactly, so keep your eyes peeled.

I'll also be doing live art here on the 27th,

Commission

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
bw
Finished up a watercolor commission.

Maybe my third attempt at watercolors. I couldn't get the scan light enough to resemble the original but oh well.

Just a few more little things to draw here and there and then I'm returning to Party Bear as I tweak the script on Maxy J. If you enjoyed the original pages of Maxy J. hurry up and save them because they're all getting redone much like Party Bear was. The plan is to have Maxy J. go PG MAYBE PG 13. It's not going to be dumb, I promise.

Finally able to scan again after almost a month. Can you figure out who everyone is??

Proof that I was actually at Heroes!

I'll be posting more art goodness soon.

I'll be the featured artist on Ka-baam this weekend. It's the second to last show. I checked it out a couple weeks ago and had a great time. They're a very creative bunch.

I will also have copies of Aqua Leung that can be purchased after the show. So if you missed me at the Austin Books signing, and were wishing you could get an awesome sketch in the book, now is your chance.

Heroes con was fun X Infinity

Quick Note

Regarding the Zuda invitational. I've had a few people asked me why I'm not invited back. I was indeed invited, but chose to not participate since Maxy J. is being groomed for his own OGN with a yet to be announced publisher. So no getting mad, you'll get the rest of the story soon.

Back to Heroes stuff!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

HEROOOOOES!

Ok, so I didn't make MUCH money, but I still could saaay, buy an X-box if I wanted to.

Met a ton of super cool people. Too many to name, but you can just imagine with that rad guest list. Special thanks to Jim Mahfood, Dave Crosland, Ed Piskor and Rick Spears for being awesome people to sit next to and hang with.

My bag seriously weighed like a MILLION pounds coming back with all those books. When I handed it off to the poor luggage girl I thought she was going to fall over. I felt bad for a couple of seconds.

So I come home to find no photoshop waiting for me. It's been 20 days now. I called them to find out they shipped it to some place I don't live, even though they have the right address, they chose to fuck it up and send it to the wrong one. I'm taking it to corporate office at this point.

Now that I'm done bitching about that, here's some con sketches. I drew Superman riding Devil Dinosaur, and Thelonious Monk, and a really nice Maxy J. and Roxanne. If any of the people that own these see this, could you please scan me a copy? My camera was being lame and I guess didn't want to save the photos.

I know I drew more, I just can't remember.

Update, stole this from Zack.

Sort of at a weird angle, but you get the idea!

Stole this from comicartfans.com

Ever wanted to meet Paul Maybury????

Well I'll come out of hiding for the wonderful Heroes Con in Charlotte NC!!

Don't know what I look like?

Well here's a blurry photo of me. Good luck SUCKAAAAS!

If you need more help finding me, I'll be sitting next to Jim Mahfood at table 708 right near the entrance.
------------

I still don't have my copy of photoshop from Adobe. I hate them.

------------

As some of you know, I'm a Bostonian. Like, actually from the city of Boston. Not the suburbs of MA. I can't tell you how happy I was to see the Celtics win last night. I've always been more of a Celtics fan over the Red Sox. So while the Red Sox winning a few years back was amazing, the Celtics winning almost made me cry.

That's it for the sports talk, I just had to put it out there.

So I had to format my computer yesterday. Now all my itunes music if F'd up, and I don't have the energy to fix it all. I have however reinstalled all my programs for the most part and I'm up and running again. What a giant waste of time..

Any ways, on a better note-

Totally amazing fan art from the creator of Absurdity at its best on Zuda.

Go check out more of his work!

I might draw some more Devestatin' Dave today to cheer me up.

So I need to doodle and warm up before I draw real pages. I think instead of wasting that time on stuff you'll never see, I'm going to do it in the form of a comic.

BEHOLD!

There's no point to this really. It should be fun to see where it goes.

Inspirado!

So as I'm not drawing much right now (script writing), I thought I would at least post SOMETHING new.

Here's a character from a new book I'm developing. It might be my next project, it might not. I'll know in a couple of months.

It's one of the best interviews so far I think for this book.

(lj cut isn't working, sorry)

Ok, this might be the longest post ever..

So I went to SXSW and passed out copies of Popgun with Joe K. from Image. Here's a couple pictures of the Popgun sponsored party with Under the Radar magazine.

Next stop, NY NY!

Thanks to Dan and Lilli and their cat Wedge for letting us stay on their couch/bed. The bearded lady was quite a sight.

So we had a release party for Aqua leung sponsored by CBLDF, Comicspace, Smith Magazine and a both of others. I met Thomas who helped design Aqua Leung and got it ready for print. Totally awesome dude. Met and talked to Alex Maleev, and nerded out about European artists. Talked to Larry Marder for a bit, who is a very nice fellow. The Night Owl twins from Zuda were drawing machines, and really great people. Jeffrey Brown rolled through and I got his original pinup he did for Aqua as well as some sweet mini comics. NY Times was there, weren't interested in talking to me because I guess I'm not from NY, but they interviewed all my friends in the room and at least mentioned me. Here's pics, video and scans from the partay!

My buddy Ken gave me this sweet Aqua drawing, I need to get a frame..

Here's some coverage from the night.

On to the con!

Met a TON of cool people at the con. Too many to list, talked to Claudio from Coheed and Cambria after his acoustic set at the Image after party for a bit. Met some new ACT-I-VATE members, met Jeff Smith at the RASL party, met Joe Flood who's awesome and talented. Had a long conversation with Phil Yeh. Ming Doyle and Jacopo all the way from Italy popped by my table. Talked to Ahmet Zappa on the phone, and apparently he's a huge fan of Aqua, and a pretty cool dude. Bumped into Nick Bertozzi and his daughter. Half way through our conversation we were told that our conversating was "BOOOORING!", and we knew it was time to wrap it up. Saw my friends Khary, Wes and Alberto too. Mark, Gina and Calista from First Second were all great people, and it was great to finally meet them in person too. Here's some pictures as well as con sketches.

At some point, I found the time to be in the ACT-I-VATE webcomics roundtable panel. It was packed (not just with us). Kevin (wizard writer, and buddy) did a quick write up about it. Here's a couple bits from it linked below.

http://theprocesscomic.com/blog/2008/04/23/post-nycc-update/

I went to a bar with my buddies Dan and Nikki one night after a con and got a drink. about a half an hour into it David Loyd drops by and comes to sit with us. We ended up hanging out with him for hours, and we even did a little drawing together. We did a portrait swap. He was one of the nicest people I met at the endtire con.

On to Boston!

This was a trip to see my friends and family, but I did a couple signings at my old shops as well, here's some pics.

The Weekly Dig also did a quick interview and plug for me.

http://www.weeklydig.com/arts-entertainment/words/200804/paul-maybury

My father and Bill at the clambox

Dotty and my mother inside where it was warmer.

My dog Miguel, who was very happy to see me.

Signing @ Comicopia Kuje from PJ dropped by

Same day signing at NEC in Allston. My friends Osvaldo, Albert and Melissa are in the photo

Someone asked if I could draw Aqua Leung smacking his friend in the face with an octopus. He probably didn't think I would actually do it, hah.

After the signing in Allston we all went to eat and drink (thanks to NEC for picking up the bill, as well as giving me some books to read) Here's me, my girlfriend Cassandra, Jess and Jen the super twins. Jess made me a cake, brought me flowers at the con AND made me cookies which made me very popular at the Image booth. Happy birhday to them both by the way.

Benn and Erin, my favorite people at NEC while I lived in Boston.

It was Melissa's Mom's birthday the next day, so I made a jounrey to good ol' South Boston.

I drew her something, but you can't see it in the photo, doh!

My friend Jim also got married to his new wife Jen. They've been together forever, and it was great to see them on their wedding day and I was glad I could be there.

Back to the South for CAPE in Dallas!

This was a super chill outdoors con for Free Comic Book Day put on by the folks at Zuess.

Met up with my friends Jim Mahfood, Dave Crosland, Kristian Donaldson, David Hopkins (Happy Birthday!!) Robert Kirkman, Andy Khun and I met Val Staples and Mark Guillory for the first time, and chatted with David Mack for a bit. I also met Jamie S. Rich, Mike Huddleston and Greg Pak, but I'm a jerk because Greg met me in NY and bought Aqua and I totally didn't remember.. (sorry dude). We stayed with my friend Kyle and his lovely wife. After the con and special dinner, Robert, Val, Andy, Cassandra, Kyle and Britney (Kyle's wife) all went to see Iron Man. Any ways, enough talk, here's pics!

Annnnd that's about it. I noticed Aqua Leung and Maxy J. both got props on Rugby.com on the same week. Pretttty cooool.

I did a lot more than what I wrote here, and met a lot more people, but I can't write anymore. I had to get this done before I left for Charlotte, because then I would NEVER get the con report done.

I don't have the energy to do a full report from NY Boston and Dallas, but here's some art I haven't posted yet, and a couple things from the Aqua release party (ended up in NY times!).

I got asked to enter something into that Iron Man Project Rooftop contest, but I was breaking under the Comicbook Tattoo deadline, taxes and getting ready to fly to NY...So maybe I'll do a better one when I can actually put more thought into it. The movie was awesome though.

Birthday present for my Dad.

Birthday present for my friend Ben.

All in all it was a great trip. Met a ton of awesome people, and did 4 million Aqua Leung drawings for people. I'll post more of that stuff in a couple of days. I have lots of photos for once.
