Woah, this is news! Sounds like he was a real guy. The local politics that kept this from being reported are amusing.

I never doubted it...Almost all the other figures and places in The Iliad and The Odyssey have been able to be verified. Still very exciting news!

On a related note, I stumbled upon this site a while back, claiming the site of the original city of Troy and the Trojan War Homer wrote about was actually located on the Gog Magog Hills in Cambridgeshire, England.

Of merit or complete bunk, I'm not knowledgeable enough in such history to make an opinion.

Great article.
I like that the politics have gotten in the way of making it mainstream. It would be groovy to go there and see it uncrowded.
