Please go to http://palleon.19.forumer.com/index.php and sign up for the forum there, it's some crappy free forum, I don't know how good it will be, but should be good enough for our purposes. I'll probably try to start a game later this week, and will let everyone know beforehand, but making an account now couldn't hurt.

| ESPN must feel awfully stupid now |
[09 Jan 2007|10:44am] |
I was looking over ESPN's football draft analysis for this last year, and I noticed they may want to take back some of the things about the Bears. See if you can spot it.
Chicago Bears Best pick: Mark Anderson, DE, Alabama. Anderson made a surprising nosedive on draft weekend. But the Bears finally took advantage of his misfortune by selecting him late in the fifth round. Not only did Anderson consistently produce at the college level, he also put on an impressive display during combine workouts. I expect Anderson to quickly emerge as part of the defensive end rotation behind Alex Brown and Adewale Ogunleye in Chicago. Worst pick: Devin Hester, RS, Miami. This pick would have been fine had the team not taken Danieal Manning (Abilene Christian) earlier in the second round. Manning was a decent value because of his potential versatility as a free safety/cornerback tweener with experience in the return game. Hester is more explosive in the return game, but he doesn't have a position on offense or defense. So the team essentially used its second of two picks in Round 2 on a return specialist when it could have gotten production in that area from Manning. Better options with the 57th overall pick would have included Western Michigan tight end Tony Scheffler or Fresno State DC Richard Marshall. Work to do: It was surprising to see the Bears continually pass on highly rated tight end prospects throughout the draft's first few rounds, especially after watching Georgia tight end Leonard Pope slip to Round 3. Unless a move is made between now and next fall, the team is stuck with Desmond Clark -- who has caught just 24 passes in each of the last two seasons -- as its starter.

[14 Dec 2006|04:54pm] |
http://environment.guardian.co.uk/c...1966664,00.html Highlight of the article: Another challenge was the risk of in-breeding. To widen the genetic stock, researchers had to come up with a way to find a mate for even the least popular females. How did they do that? "We tricked them," Zhang says with a smile. The "trick" is to put a fertile and attractive female into a breeding pen, where she leaves scratchmarks and droppings capable of exciting a male. But at the last moment the females are swapped. The zookeepers introduce a new, less popular, mate who has been scented with the urine of the more attractive animals. She is introduced into the mating pen rear end first, so the male cannot see the face of his partner until after they have finished copulating. "When the males find out, they get very angry and start fighting the female," Zhang says. "We have had to use firecrackers and a water hose to separate them."

| Possible Flowing water found on Mars |
[06 Dec 2006|09:16am] |
NASA is holding a news conference in about 45 minutes from this posting, and according to some leaks, apparently the mars rovers have found flowing water on the surface of Mars.
http://cbs5.com/topstories/local_story_340020925.html
Edit: Although I'll note that NASA's last "major announcements" about water were full of "maybes" so this could just be another dried up riverbed.

| Lousy Hippies in Jimmy Johns |
[21 Nov 2006|01:41pm] |
Surprisingly, this story has nothing to do with Heather (I kid, I kid).
Anyways, for some reason, something interesting seems to happen whenever I go into this particular store. Today, I went in, and there was a big line, because there was some guy there about my age with generic hippy facial hair (like he gave up years ago), arguing that he wanted a refund on two fully half-eaten sandwiches. I got a little closer, and the conversation went a little something like this.
Manager (M): What do you want me to do again? Dirty Hippy (DH): I want new sandwiches M: What were the problems with these? DH: I don't want lettuce that tastes like PESTACIDES (as he turns to everyone else in line). M: We don't use pestacides on our lettuce (:masterstroke:) DH: Well I want a new sandwich to replace this one, and also this other one, my friend has the same problem (he ended up sitting alone at a table by the way) M: Do you want the same thing, with lettuce? DH: Yes, but don't make it taste like pestacides!
He proceeded to storm off to a table by himself, I got my food and left.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/11/15/simpsoninterview.ap/index.html
In a new TV interview and book, O.J. Simpson discusses how he would have committed the slayings of his ex-wife and her friend "if I did it."
"In the two-part event, Simpson describes how he would have carried out the murders he has vehemently denied committing for over a decade."
The interview, conducted with book publisher Judith Regan, will air days before Simpson's new book, "If I Did It," goes on sale November 30. The book "hypothetically describes how the murders would have been committed," the network said.

| Guitar Hero 2 |
[07 Nov 2006|11:35am] |
Guitar Hero 2 comes out today, I'm going to pick it up after work, and I need one final crucial peice of the puzzle. I need a band name.
Right now I'm thinking as possible options:
Sids Mom Karate Explosion The Junior Mints
But I need more suggestions. I have no idea what the character count for the name is though, so keep it as short as reasonably possible.

| Physical Therapy is over |
[07 Nov 2006|11:07am] |
Today was my last day of physical therapy, after 3 weeks (8 appointments). The pain in my arm and hand is gone, and was gone after week one, however, I still don't have full feeling back in my left pinkie, and they're not sure if it will ever come back, but it's at least functional, and there's not much more that can be done for it except to wait and see if it will come back on its own. But beyond that I've made a nearly-full recovery, there's still a lot of work for me to do at home for another month or two most likely, and I'll have to keep up with stretches every day to prevent it from happening again, but things should be a lot better off from here on out I'm hoping.
Also: Go vote today.

| Sound System |
[06 Nov 2006|01:58pm] |
|
I think I'm going to pick up a surround sound system this weekend, it's about time given the new tv. I'll likely be at Best Buy, since I have a gift card to get stuff there, so if anyone can point me to some recommended units on their website, I'd appriciate it. I don't need or want a super high end one, but don't want a crappy low end cheap system either. Give me something that balances cost and effectiveness.

You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas.
