Apocalypse Theatre & The Dawg Daze of Summer [30 Aug 2003|06:05pm]

It has been a while since i have posted anything. Apox just completed another East coast tour and I never found time to post a damn thing. Now me and Kat are stationed in Chicago away from the others scouting the city and looking for stuff to do. Bozo Porno Circus will be in town Sunday (yeah)and tonight we plan to haunt the dirgy dives that spew soul and substance far & away from the Starbucks and Urban Outfitter cancer plauges that stain these streets with generic culture death infections. None the less- Chicago is still standing strong, and fighting the rising tides of all American "everything must comply and look the same." It does look a little bleak. Eitherway, most US Cities have already fallen to the hordes of empty consumer souls, the sports bars, the Alt rock chain- retail, coffee & trendy food intersections. The Era of Designer Crossroads... Blaugh. Aaargh!
Is there a chance to turn the meat machine against itself here in the windy metropolis?
Maybe I can help destroy the process with...with?... and then I ask the question;

Where oh where are the animal spirits? The nomads, pirates, and misfits? The resistance? Maybe they are hiding in darker underground corners. We will find each other and Chicago will burn with the insatiable hunger again. It is either that or we vomit, or fall asleep by a strange giant seed pod and wake up naked & feeling like we are one with the collective. hehehe (Maybe I am losing my grip..or maybe not..I do feel a wee bit insane..)

Where ya gonna run? Where ya gonna hide? NOWHERE.
Cause there is no-one like you left.

NEWS TO YOU! [13 Jul 2003|07:26pm]

<img src="http://userpic.livejournal.com/4342175/913463"-cAnDyXxX" />

Well now, it's been a while.. What's going on in America? Where is everyone? M&E in LA, how are things? S.Randall in Atlanta?? What is keeping everone occupied?!? Yea, you get back to me on that. In the meantime, here are just a few things happening with 'our underground'...

Tons of new & upcoming releases, lots of touring to support these releases, and everyone working and intertwining with each other to keep the momentum of this ball of mass going.

Krztoff & Lacey (Nocturne) team up on the Demon Machine US Tour while simultaneously Voodou plays with Hanzel und Gretyl on the Uber Alles Tour while simultaneously Defragmentation (for devoted lovers of noize and hardhitting beats), Tub Ring, & DJ? Acucrack/Acumen Nation explode on their adventures of the US. BoZo PoRno CiRcus scheduling dates, Flowers & Machines(tonezone.com), Notes bands here and there. And if that's not enough.. Martin comes out from behind his laptop at the office to behind the DJ booth to bring various cities unreleased, rare and never heard before sounds of the underground- then speaks some wise words of the trials and tribulations.. keep your ears open. And eyes on the undergroundinc.com. tour page, Martin will be meeting up with bands here and there. A predecessor for...?

Again and obviously there is a lot going on, plans in the making. For those of you who haven't heard, the United #2 Tour, including the potency that is Pigface, is happening in less than a few months. A new lineup of bands, some additional guests and some familiar faces. I say plans in the making, but truth is this idea was spinning thru Martin's marbles way before United #1 came to an end.

So we network. We collaborate, cooperate and conglomerate once again to take us higher than we were left after watching/hearing/ingesting the visual and aural chaos of 'Suck'. I know you want it. I KNOW I want it. Bad.

Heehee... enough with the seriousness. Go check out Martin, his thoughts gathered thru his life are enough to inspire and motivate an army. wait, that's happened. He'll be DJing/Spoken Word-ing it in Cleveland, Toledo, LaCrosse, Bowling Green and so on within the next couple weeks, for starters. anyway I'm looking forward to at least a few of the dates.

So, speak your thoughts:

watch the shows:

and keep tuned in for more.

this tour has brought us in contact with some very cool people, one of the things i love about touring. we came up to the fenix sunday night to see SMP and the genitorturers, at the fenix, the most beautiful club i've seen to this day. destroyed in an earthquake 2 yrs ago, and after much $$, a beautiful reincarnation. so we played with hate dept last night. what a fantastic, pleasant, most anticipated surprise. it's always great to see someone in their own element, creation, rather than collaboration. different perspective.
ANYWAY... let me backtrack some.. Los Angeles.. Monica and Erik are some of the most friendliest people out there, very refreshing. so they came to san diego, helped much.. then LA, then she fixed my rubber and had us girls drooling over her metal spiked nipple-bra.. and they just rocked. bar sinister is a great club to play at.
ok... fastforward to the night after our crazed up, sexed up, fucked up show... hanging out with alexei that played years ago with bamboo crisis (ken, bpc's singer's baby). he is now working with haujobb and aghast view from brazil... met jason from smp who came out last night as well as some crazy transvestite evil nuns. and again.. hate dept rocked all night.
so we soon end our 7 week tour, in denver at the onyx on staurday the 31st, as cranberry's guests. this has flown by... and i presume these upcoming months will as well. many, many things to cum, brains to pick, things to fuck up, faces to come accross. it'll be a good late 2003. just watch.
can't wait to see some long-anticipated faces.
waiting patiently,

Hybrid pirate punk goths & Sushi cravings [21 May 2003|06:02pm]

First of all I want to thank all of you who have spoken with us on the road and shared your thoughts, your dreams, and your inspiration. We will be writing as many of you as we can once we get back home.I also want to thank those of you who have shared moments in this journal. It has touched me in a special deep way. I will be home soon and reading, writing you back, and preparing for the next leg of our tour. I hope I can meet some of you.
The last week or so has continued down the path APOX knows sooo well, but each night brought us new friends, & new connections with possible future adventures waiting to happen.
We also learned that Cyndi Lauper listened to our cover of Time after Time. That made us smile. I also met several singers, dancers, and song writers with interest in working on material with us. One memory that stands out was an elder kindred country man in a Georgia Waffle House who had the courage to approach us with his Biz-card and expressed interest in working together on a country song. He shared stories of long ago glory days in a shy fashion maybe even intimidated by the dark angel tribe before him. Me & Kat were very excited, the idea of an authentic song from the heart of the South with a steel string twang & a electronic thud sounds promising.
Anyway, there were many cool kindred souls that flutter in my thoughts, Hanna, Dagger, Michael, Scott, Nocturne, CandyXXX and so many others. I am wounded but I grow stronger everyday thanx to you all. My personal struggle like so many of you is never ending, and sometimes it kicks my ass, but I will keep trying to find a way to make something that I can share with all of you.
Something that is real. That helps us help each other. Thanx for the smiles, the hugs, the support, the hunger, and the love.
I am not sure how this story ends, but I will get there.

angry angels forever

Days off days on. The interuption is nice. A day off by the pool is nice. But as I look around I see the anxiousness, the feeling of needing to be doing something, somewhere, fast. West coast fun is approaching at a rapid pace. Our first tour on that side of the world. Hopefully will see familiar faces from the tour, relatives and friends that have been sucked into the California lifestyle.

Update: Los Angeles will take place on Thursday, the 22nd at Bar Sinister in the heart of Hollywood. Thanks to you guys who are helping with the correction, as we are having difficulties accessing our site from the road.

I hope you guys have soem ass-kicking shows, ApoX. Can't wait to cross paths again. Can't wait for a lot of things to happen.....

Psycho Mutant Caravan [14 May 2003|12:02pm]

We spent the last two days off, retreating to a beach house on the chesapeke bay (Maryland) we drank lots of Brandy/Whisky. We have 6 shows in a row coming up. Baltimore was a strange time (we arrived late, had to use our own PA.),Buffalo rocked something fierce. Detroit was strange too, but in the end we had a great time. Chicago was cool, as was Milwaukee.
I am tired, last night the animal essence escaped our control and we all played havoc in the land of carnage. Nakedness and psycho full moon behavior ran rampant on the shores of savage animal freedom. I am still recovering from various forms of heartbreak & spiritual decay. Was it fun.. YES. NO. and whatever. I am still hoping to meet new blood. I noticed someone who posted after witnessing our deliverance in Detroit was curious to meet us again. That makes me happy. That is why I do this, because I am seeking something words alone will never describe. I love you all, I know that sounds corny, hokey, yaddayaddayadda- but that is how I survive. On the dreams of others, feeding and fueling the process. I need fresh blood again, my heart grows weary. Are YOU out there?
I am hurting. Love has wounded me again. I need the energy of inspiration.
I can't wait to play a show aagin. The retreat was nice, but now it is time to bleed for the truth that Apox represents. Fuck Rock Star Crap, we are a tribe. FRIENDS.

Apocalypse!!! [06 May 2003|09:48am]

We used to travel all the time, months & months out of the year searching for the home land, we crash landed in Minneapolis years ago, and now by default it is home. But the road still calls us out 3-4 times a year, and on this journey we begin to re-clear a path East. Usually we head West, usually we stay out longer but times are tough & we have to organize upon our return, our The Burning Man & Autonomous Mutant Festival adventures.
I am looking forward to going East, it is the birthplace of this crazy story.
Here is a little background on the band, the what/who/why/when and so on.

Apocalypse Theatre has been struggling to survive since the mid-90's. There are so many adventures and tragedies, mixed in with the triumphs and lucky moments.
We have had close to 100 members share in this love story meets Mad Max action adventure. Reflecting back, it is hard to believe we have survived the test of time. Even now we swirl in emotional storms, that would crack and destroy most bands underneath the pressure.. We have embraced musical mutations until it became our pirate flag waving in the turbulence. A stubborn testament to our spirit.
Things are always changing in the Apox camp. But we continue to fight to bring our rag tag misfit gutter Goth industrial machine to everyplace we can in our fleet of self maintained vans & vehicles. We are everything and nothing, an invisible band that has by a moment of manic desperation landed an alliance with a label called Invisible. But, we are not invisible to those who have been there all along, we are your friends and we are still here because of you. We don't think of you as street teams or steps in a ladder, we think of you as friends, and sometimes that leads us in new directions. Many of you have open invites, to get away from your living hells and stay at The Apox Shack and many of you have. Many of you have contributed in various ways to keep this dream alive. In your own right, you are a part of Apox, and we carry that gift, like a torch, with a strength of heart that makes us unique. So through it all we evolve, we continue, because we have to. We are no longer a band, but a tribe. There are 11 of us now, and our animal friend guardian wolf like dog. (Cinder)
It is a combination of many styles, because we assimilate everything we appreciate. We have something to say, sometimes it is a reflection of our pain, sometimes an invitation into our celebrations, and other times we just cry havoc. "Mutiny on the World!!!!"
There is a new breed and we are the flagship sailing forth as a new dawn rises.
We want to represent.
So we hope you will creep & crawl out from the depths and check us out
We are excited to bring our pirate ship of folly & joy to your world.
I am looking for something, someone, somewhere..I hope I find it someday. In the meantime, I have this. When I pause to find a little smile, I know deep down no matter how sad I get, it is not so bad after all.

<img src="http://userpic.livejournal.com/4342175/913463"-cAnDyXxX" />

I am told I am doing the nervous dance as I sit, or rather frolick around bpc's merch area, as I look around to see the faces of many people: friendly, familiar, supportive, curious, excited, eager... Definitely one of the more important shows on this tour. And our first time playing an actual venue with a stage, not a danceclub with a dancefloor. And they kept coming in. Yey.
It was so fantastic to see the familiar Underground Inc. faces. Jamie (Cracknation) came to run sound for Fashion Bomb. Then as an ever so friendly gesture he ran sound for us. If you haven't heard Acumen Nation or DJ?Acucrack or Iron Lung you will not know talent behind the man and the ears this mutherfucker is. He ran sound for the 4 bands on the United tour and did it for the 'Family' without hesitation. Gooooooood sooooouuunds.
The Uinc crew came (thanks!!!) to support. Jim Jim, who's actually behind me sleeping on the floor at the moment at Luke's home. Steve, fucking drove from Cincinatti. Dirk Flanigan, who jumped on the tour in LA and one of the best chefs I've encountered (you must go to Mearitage in Chicago if you've never). Rodney and Luke, my merch boys! Alex Zander from MK Ultra... Messy.. Colleen from our town of Houston... ok I could go on but I won't. Great fucking night full of great vibes and great people and great Thai right accross the street (thanks for the rec. Val!) Soooooo now we sleep and head off to Canada until Sunday. We are in Ithaca then New York City. Can't wait to see the Bile crew. See THAT is what is so wonderful about the people I encountered on the tour. They are all about supporting each other. They are all about making a difference. They are just all about the goodness.
Soooo on another note... rumors of people returning to the wonderful life that is and develops on the road. http://www.invisiblerecords.com/tour.htm for updates. All I will say for now.
Okay so I go a few weeks of hardly checking my email and now it is 4AM an I am still behind one. Sofa bed calls. Thanks Luke for putting up with our punkasses.
Pssing out behind the keyboard,

ahhh. shall i take a second to breathe?? NO! these last few weeks have been spent watching, learning, moving, observing, stressing, laughing, yelling, sweating, sweating, sweating, and finally but not consistently, showering. the glory of a shower i certainly learned. a ton of things i certainly learned. i had no idea how much goes into a production that consists of 4 really hard working bands on a United tour with a crew that cannot be stopped! for the love of mary.... even on our days off i could spot jamie from acumen nation making runs to the ice machine from just the need to be doing something!
and our friendly helpers accross the nation.. some of them just overwhelmed me with their smiles and excitement and momentum. we all fed off of you and kept going.
ANYWAY... good times and hard times, and it continues. i now embark on my 7-week tour with BoZo PoRno CiRcus. don't doubt that i am applying every bit of knowledge i have acquired from the previous, in hopes of taking it to the next level, higher and higher, stepping it up a dozen notches until yours and our ears bleeeeeeeeed.
see you with q-tips in hand.

The United tour is over, but many bands continue on in spirit. From Invisible and Underground inc. to many other labels that strive to challenge the status quo. The beat of resistance grows stronger. This journal will continue to tell the tale of those who live for the music and stand for the cause that is defined by you. Apocalypse Theatre, Bozo Porno Circus, SMP, Nocturne, and Voodow are all touring now (Spring) or in the coming weeks, as are so many others beyond the Undeground inc. family. We all need each other to survive and to keep each other inspired, just as this journal has inspired us and the United tour troupe. We are all obviously inspired by oh so many of you. Thanx for the words. and now...(drum roll ) The show must go on.

in last minute news, I wanted to point out the semi-secret Pigface site that is linked to this site which for those of you who want more Pigface info and fun stuff will find entertaining. It exist for the diehards & the curious. You can either link from the website link at the top or type in undergroundagency.com

The underground agency site will change soon, so check it out cause it is up for change in May. In the future it will feature bands (exclusive interactive interviews, links & photos)currently involved in the two labels (Ui & Invisble) and have free video & music. Some of which will only be available through the site. The first special feature will be an interview with one of the Pigface grrrls and a special exclusive Apocalypse Theatre remix of Junkyard Lullaby.

UPDATE!!!

Has it been 4 weeks already? I know I was going to do this everyday and keep you updated with the tours progression – it turns out that – I think that the only way to experience this – errrrrrrr is to experience it and taste it and not shower and put EVERYTHING you have into one show, pushing it all the way – even though you know that you are burning tomorrows fuel – it doesn’t matter – you just have to hope that there is more fuel from somewhere…….I’m going to try and explain this later at greater length…….
ANYWAY – first let me tell you my amazing ‘why I haven’t been on the internet excuse – it’s a really good one BUT – within the insanity of the tour – its just another two minute story on another insane day –
IF you had to make a prediction as to what might happen to my new I book laptop – you’d probably say – well maybe someone might spill a beer on it? Maybe someone might have sex on it? Maybe someone might accidentally throw it out the window or put it through the laundry with my radioactive gig shirts??? Well you’d be horribly wrong by a million miles…………how about a bus driver with an artificial hip changing the television in the rear lounge (it turns out un-necessarily) has his hip EXPLODE and drops the t.v. on top of my laptop – which now has the (pat pending) smashed to pieces screen saver installed.

So, that’s still not really an excuse but, I’m going to go with it.

You have probably heard all kinds of things about the shows – it was magnificent to see Danny from Tool, C C Deville of fricking POISON, Jason & The Method from Godhead, Julian Beeston, Taime Downe of Faster Pussycat and and and in La Dee Da – BUT – the band is really magnificent – every extra bit of headroom that my body gives me I burn immmmedeately persuing some magical place – some mind blowing drugless breathless blurrr – this afternoon I am having neck and back tweaked out again just so I can self induce more whiplash drum kit injuries underneath a shower of my own spit. This is, I think, the most powerful incarnation of Pigface, beyond individuality – a whirlwind of moments – the girls – a four headed sex machine – never mind our glorious crew – how can they deal with all of this everyday? I simply don’t know and am humbled everyday at their super-human efforts to construct magic from nuts and bolts – to create a chocolate coated layer cake from flour and water…..maaaaaaaaaaaaaan ALL of the words I can use just melt and appear formed and record label publicity machine like – you just have to see it to understand – and now that sounds even more record label like so I’ll stop. Last thing – thankyou SO MUCH to all of you that have helped in ANY way – it takes a lot to de-rail this motherfucker BUT it takes some really tiny things from you to make it sparkle and shine – as I say from the stage – never underestimate the difference that you as an individual can make to any situation!

Love Peace RESPECT!!! Martin Atkins

the energy levels shot up our spines and thru the roof last night like never felt before! Los Angeles.. the key club.. gODHEAD.. Cc DeVille.. Faster Pussycat...tons and tons of beautiful Hollywierdos and freaks! It was wall to wall, hot and steamy, loud and raging!
i've been on this tour since april 2nd and the action is nonstop. I never realized just how much work goes into a Pigface production. I didn't know Buzz and Groovie Mann were the sweet and very entertaining.. and the boys of Zeromancer couldn't be more down to earth. and Krztoff... I've made a new friend. Many new friends.. Dirk just jumped on tour last night and will continue with us for a few more dates. He's contributed to earlier Pigface albums, Gub being one.
ANYWAY!!! COME OUT COME OUT COME OUT!!! There's exactly a week left after tonight. Tomorrow we're in San Francisco at DNA, and we continue up the west coast and shoot over and accross and above and beyond and have the grand finale in Chicago at Metro. Is THAT going to be a show!
Monicka & Erik! Thanks so much for all your help yesterday! I wish you could of made it out tonight... It was great riding around in your hearse down Sunset Blvd! Oh- and I have your ten bucks from Jolly...
---see you on the other side of the road---

hey!
this is kami from apox. i cant believe we are already in california! didnt i go to sleep in texas last night? or was that last week? everything is going by so fast! last night we played LA at the Keyclub, definitely one of the best shows of the tour so far, my personal highlight was meeting CC DeVille of Poison and Lydia Lunch both in one evening, that was unexpected, and very cool! the crowd was awesome, and it was so packed i could barely fight my way across the room, always a good thing! the most crowded show on the tour was definitley austin, texas though, and it was sooooo hot! way too much for this minnesota girl. Lacey, Curse and Suzan were all right at home though.
what a long strange trip its been so far, i can only imagine what the final leg of our journey has in store for us. i know for me this has been a particularly trying journey at times, but full of amazing experiences, and eye opening revelations. i've met so many beautiful people out there. sometimes you think theres no one left fighting, or that the scene is dead, but i have witnessed first hand, that the scene maybe struggling, but its seething under the surface, and ive seen the looks in the eyes of the kidz in the crowd...and i am more inspired that ever to go back to my own band Apocalypse Theatre with a fresh perspective on whos out there, and why we do what we do.
anyway, gotta get back to work,
till next time...

Still getting stronger and tighter and louder and faster.. tomorrow the tour lands in Houston at Number's.. and what a show it is going to be. I (and all the bands) just want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to making this tour the best ever. These guys are obviously (from your posts/reviews) rocking out hard and will continue to do so. Martin once again, going at it vigourously at the drums, fell off the drum riser, this time hurting his arm. But of course he's back at it. Soooo... I just had the pleasure of being invited to join them on the remainder of the tour out on the beautiful west coast ending in Chicago at the Metro on the 20th. That show is going to kick some hard ass!! So please come up and say hello, we'd all love to meet you guys who are working hard for us.

Stressed and Exxxcited,
Candyxxx
