The Boob Tube
The Fall TV season starts with a vengeance tonight, pairing Nicholas Brendon (Xander!) against Alyson Hannigan (Willow!) in Kitchen Confidential and How I Met Your Mother..., both airing at 8:30/7:30 Central, on Fox and CBS, respectively. Did I mention KC features Bradley Cooper (Will Tippin!) and James Francis Daley (Sam Weir!) while HIMYM includes Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie!) and Jason Segel (Nick Andopolis!). It's the battle of Buffy and Freaks and Geeks alums, my friends. Thank goodness we have two VCRs and a Ti-faux.

Every year, I anxiously await my Fall TV Preview from Entertainment Weekly so I can plot my TV-watching grid. Very important to my yearly outlook. I usually try to keep my TV-watching at status quo (that is, not adding any NEW shows to the roster until old shows are either abandoned by me personally or cancelled). But this year presents a challenge, and the best I can hope for is that some of the new shows that intrigue me really, really suck.

So, my tentative TV-viewing schedule, as I now see it:

Monday: How I Met Your Mother (CBS), Kitchen Confidential (FOX)
Tuesday: Boston Legal (ABC), Bones (FOX), Nip/Tuck (fX), My Name is Earl (NBC), The Office (NBC)
Wednesday: Veronica Mars (UPN), Lost (ABC)
Thursday: The O.C. (FOX), Reunion (FOX), Everwood (WB), Alias (ABC), Survivior (CBS), CSI (CBS)
Friday: FREE!!
Saturday: FREE!!
Sunday: Desperate Housewives (ABC), Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO)
Mid-season: Scrubs (NBC), 24 (FOX) , American Idol (FOX)

Key:
Green: In danger of being dropped
Italics: On probation until additional (or any) episodes are seen

So basically on Thursday? I'm FUBAR'd. Why did Everwood and Alias BOTH shift to Thursdays? It's a heavy-handed plot against me personally, and the other 17 people in the country who watch both of these shows AND The O.C..

And as I try to keep SOME semblance of a life going, I imagine lots of these will be zipped through, on tape, in the late-afternoon while I treadmill/cook/clean. Updates/thoughts/reviews throughout the season. I'm looking foward to it!

My Name is Earl and How I Met Your Mother both sound like fun. Honestly, is Desperate Housewives worth checking out? My sis-in-law LOVES it, but we've got very different tastes. If I get your seal of approval on it I may check it out. :)

Honestly, is Desperate Housewives worth checking out?

I really loved it last year. I ADORE a good mystery, and it was chock full of them. Fantastic acting (Marcia Cross is my favorite), bits of unconventional humor, smart writing. The mysteries petered out a bit in the end, so I'm little concerned about the upcoming season, but I have faith :-)

I'd suggest getting Disc 1, Season 1 on Netflix and seeing how you like it ...

It's on DVD already??? Wow. I'll definately check it out, thanks!

You're the last holdout on House, aren't you? I think I was the next-to-last. It's really, really good. Season 1 is out on DVD already - that way you can preserve your Tuesdays. :)

No, I watch House once in a while ... saw it last week, in fact. I GET it, I just haven't COMMITTED. :-) If we're home, and bored, and neglecting the books on our nightstand, we'll surely turn in on. Mr. Whirled likes it a good deal.

BLAH. That's "we'll surely tune it in." Fingers, be damned.

Thank you for the update, darlin'! I'll so be glued to the TV tonight and tomorrow. You listed 2 of the new shows I've been wanting to see! :) So thankee, thankee, thankee! :)

The Mutant Enemy alums are going crazy this year. Boreanez on Bones, Charisma on Veronica Mars, Amy Acker on Alias, Marsters on Smallville, which I used to watch but I couldn't stomach Welling and Kreuk's "acting." Seth Green is doing something too, I think. All we need to virtually complete the Scoobies is Anthony Stewart Head, who, of COURSE, is my favorite :-)

Yes, you know I will be glued to Smallville this season for Mr. Marsters. ;) The show aggravates me otherwise. And I'll try Bones for Boreanez' sake, but I can't see me watching it long term. And I didn't know about Amy and Charisma! lol How funny is that?
