Getting a pretty fat tax return. I wonder why the US penalizes those who don't own a house as much as they do. The tax benefits for home ownership are awesome. I don't understand.

1. It's getting harder to come up with something to list. 2. There is a succinctness with lists that plainly shows the repetition of my daily life. 3. Jenny is gone for the next 10 days on travel for work. 4. She called me last night and I kind of blew her off, citing tiredness as an excuse for my not wanting to talk. 5. I haven't heard from her all day. 6. I wonder if that means anything. 7. She asks me if I miss her, and I think that when she asks this question I should respond instinctively 'Yes' instead of thinking about it. 8. I don't miss people like I used to. 9. I like being around some people, but it's not like we have to be together all the time, even if she is someone I really like. 10. If it's been a week I'll probably start missing her, but for god's sake how am I supposed to miss a person after only a few hours.

I admire and have a distaste for folks who are always searching for something. The expectation is what I dislike, that hopefulness that comes with tossing caution to the wind and going where the heart takes you. I feel good when folks don't find what they want, they shouldn't have left the house in the first damn place. For those who do find something, though. Those who take the chance to totally fuck up but end up succeeding, well god damned if that's not something else.

|
He did not care if she was heartless, vicious and vulgar, stupid and grasping, he loved her. He would rather have misery with one than happiness with the other.

1. Running. I love not being in shape but still able to go out and run 9 miles on a whim. I left my house and ran on the Sligo Creek Trail until I got to Wheaton Regional Park. It was really quite nice seeing all the people out enjoying a cool (but too warm) winter afternoon walking with families, dogs, and significant others. After I ran around the botanical garden and pond, I headed back home and ran by a fellow in a wheelchair with a cd player on his lap blasting the Stylistics. 2. +/- 3. Bosin Jungol. 4. Rock Creek Trail. I didn't run on it this weekend, but I thought about what a great trail it is while running on the Sligo Creek trail. 5. Wheaton Regional Park. 6. Portrait of the Artist.

I'm obsessed with seafood right now. oysters on the half shell, seafood bisque, and a budweiser to wash that all down. Mmm, crab imperial, fried flounder, fried haddock, that's it, I'm moving. Eastern Shore, here I come.

Saw a co-worker from my previous company today. He actually gave me a big hug, which was a little awkward, but sweet as well. This guy has no pretense. I figured it might have something to do with him being Armenian? I went to this Armenian guy's house once, and when his family came into the kitchen they were all hugging and kissing one another like they hadn't seen one another for months. Anyway, he hugged me cheek to cheek, and rubbed the side of my face with his facial stubble, which was an interesting and sensual experience. Maybe sensual is not the right word, but there was something avuncular about his hug, like I'm a young man that he knew as a boy, and my, look how I've grown.

1:08 pm - You'd think there'd be something, oh I'll take anything.

I feel like I've lost control of my life somewhat, like all these things that I have are what people come to think as meaning stability mean the opposite. Relationship, house, job... I need to end the relationship, but goddammit, how do I hurt someone. I don't want to do it.
I've been writing pretty consistently the last few days. I made a goal of writing 20 pages in two weeks, but I don't think I'll make it. I wrote a little bit over one page last night, and it took me nearly 100 minutes. What someone can read in a couple minutes took me 100 minutes to write. Crazy. I have a new respect for anyone who writes a book. Those goddamn things really are a ton of work. Then again, maybe I just write really slowly.

10:41 am - This is the latest from Saddle Creek
|
I need new music. Upon the recommendation of Lars, I purchased Shellac 'At Action Park' and Dianogah 'Battle Champions'. Vvega recommended Maxwell's latest, so I'm going to pick that up as well.
Any more recommendations would be appreciated. Ooh, I should check out Sarah Shannon's latest.
