Stay fresh a little longer, hold tight a little longer
    Hi hello, livejournal world.

    I'm here, in sacramentos.

It's night-time, and the air smells like mountains and rain. It's getting quite cold, I must say, but not quite as cold as I had imagined it would be at this time.

So I'm here. Probably maybe possibly not for much longer. It's all up in the air, but the company I work for possibly maybe made some bad business decisions (ie, buying a corporate yacht on borrowed money), hired a metric-fuckton of people who had a big scam going on who stole about $150k over the past 6 months, and there's that pesky housing bubble bursting, ruining the fun for everyone. So, possibly maybe I will be swinging back down to Texas this month. After that, who knows? Probably NYC.

But all is not lost. Me and the ice cream creatures, my lovely wife christian and the silly but conniving Meat-Man-Sticklefund-Munoz have all had several sessions of productive and gorgeous recording, so look for some new Ice Cream Creature work soon. Soon enough. Prepare yourself, bitches.

I finished up the ICC remix of Fredo Viola's 'Sad Song' http://www.fredoviola.com/the_sad_song.html (the video, at that link, is stunningly wonderful, and is making quite a buzz all over the place, even Roger Ebert was talking about it, and it is now being shown around the world at Resfest... definitely check it out). It took me a long frickin' time to do the remix. It was tough, but I learned alot, and actually ended up with 2 remixes I was happy with. It should be released within a month or two, featuring remixes by Fell, Massive Attack, Astroid Power-up, Bluermutt, and Lowlifi (who I think goes by something else for this one), as well as myself. I know it will be available on iTunes soon, but I'm not certain about the CD pressing details yet. I'll be sure and let everyone know. I'd post a link, but I'm supposed to wait. Watch this space (this one: _______________ ) for more details.

    God I'm funny.

    Love,
    Shaun

    Ice Cream Creatures again
So the Ice Cream Creatures album is now available in mp3 format, at papergoose.net.

You can get it real cheap like, like that, but the problem with this is that you don't get the cool pink felt with diamonds and rainbow feathers.

I just thought you should know.

    nostalgia is a bitch
We have become a Nazi monster in the eyes of the whole world--a nation of bullies and bastards who would rather kill than live peacefully. We are not just Whores for power and oil, but killer whores with hate and fear in our hearts. We are human scum, and that is how history will judge us...No redeeming social value. Just whores. Get out of our way, or we'll kill you.

Who does vote for these dishonest shitheads? Who among us can be happy and proud of having this innocent blood on our hands? Who are these swine? These flag-sucking half-wits who get fleeced and fooled by stupid rich kids like George Bush?

They are the same ones who wanted to have Muhammad Ali locked up for refusing to kill gooks. They speak for all that is cruel and stupid and vicious in the American character. They are the racists and hate mongers among us--they are the Ku Klux Klan. I piss down the throats of these Nazis.

And I am too old to worry about whether they like it or not. Fuck them.

    burning burning
Oh hey, look, I have a livejournal.
I've not updated this thing in ages, and things are not the same. I'm in California, now, amidst the giant urban sprawl and limitless breast implants. I had a birthday a few days ago with little fanfare. I guess they don't mean so much as you get older. It's lonesome out here... the lonesome crowded west. I've made a few acquaintances that may or may not be called friends eventually. In any case, I'm working on lots of music lately: I'm helping co-produce an album with a guy in Oakland which will involve recording and recontextualizing a quintet and vocalist being flown in from NYC, I'm doing a remix of Fredo Viola's Sad Song to be included on an album of remixes of his work, with possible major label release, I'm working on a solo (obce) album as well as doing mixes for an oakland radio station under the same name, and I've started working with Anthony again via the internet where I make a song/melody and post on an FTP server for anthony to pick up and he records parts for it and sends it back to me, and on and on until it sounds good. Ahhhh... Anthony. Apparently, he will be coming across this great nation to record with me later, once I get my new apt. settled. Right now I live on a couch, with a bird in my ear constantly, and an alcoholic in the adjoining room. I sleep during the day because I work nights, and as there are people moving around constantly during the day and birds singing in my ear, I do not sleep. It isn't ideal, by any means, and seems to magnify my emotional ups and downs.

Christian is in India, and not planning on coming back any time soon. I haven't seen her in 3 months and haven't heard from her in several weeks. Make of that what you will. I will probably be moving to New York in December, to better facilitate the recording process with anthony. Sacramento is a hell hole, a cultural vacuum filled with sex-spoof rock bands and Deftone imitators. I saw a guy the other day with a shirt with 909's and 808's and MPC's all over it, and thought maybe I'd found someone interesting. No. He was a music-phobe. He liked hip-hop and only hip-hop. Squarepusher made this boy want to vomit, and he didn't really care about the 808's and 909's on his shirt, as he thought they were stupid, but he did like the mpc, the quintessential hip-hop makin' machine. Oh boy! I wonder if he knows that the both the 909 and 808 were used in hip hop before the mpc was even produced, and that the 808 kick drum is integral to many beats he probably likes? Bah. I mustn't waste my time with these people. So far, California is full of posers, people wanting to look cool and into their 'art' for the sake of the image. I'm sure that is too broad of a generalization, as I have met a few people into it for the right reasons, but the posers far outnumber the good people.

I'm waiting on a package with my old laptop and mixer and some equipment... I'm not sure if it was even sent or not, as I never got a tracking number. I hope so, otherwise I have a very long and expensive drive back to Texas to retrive some important things. I was going to buy a new laptop, for my show in September, but I can't afford it right now. Bills and bills and deposits and car repair and insurance and blah blah blah. So I hope that laptop arrives soon, so I have time to get it repaired and ready to go in time for the show.

My head is shaved and my beard is shaved and my life is shaved and I look like a shiny little cue-ball. I lost my glasses and had to get new ones. So a shiny little cue-ball with new glasses.

    Ummm.... what else?

Music I am listening to lately:
13 and God (the notwist and Themselves collab)
    Polyphonic Spree
    LCD Soundsystem (goddamn it's good)
    Vitalic (ditto)
    Wolf Parade
    African Dub compilation
    Matisyahu live at Stubb's
    Tim Hecker
    V/Vm

Oh, and 'little machine' from the ice cream creatures is going to be used in a independent film called 'Somewhere Between Now and Never'.
Movie with a similar aesthetic in it's name that is very good and highly recommended to all you internet people: Me, You, and Everyone We Know.

    democracy in action
"...on several swing states, and EVERY STATE that has EVoting but no paper trails has an unexplained advantage for Bush of around +5% when comparing exit polls to actual results.

In EVERY STATE that has paper audit trails on their EVoting, the exit poll results match the actual results reported within the margin of error.

So we have MATCHING RESULTS for exit polls vs. voting with audits

    vs.

A 5% unexplained advantage for Bush without audits."

    dreams
I had some weird dreams last night.
I woke up at one point yelling into the dark.
Graffiti hearts painted all over the place, a strange school with Jason Dean in attendance, a stage a long line of people and a giant game of all-ages jeopardy. Trains, classes, schools, college transcripts and a happy ending.

    Anthony is coming tomorrow!
    There was much rejoicing.
Yes, it's true. He's finally returning from his art commune in Mexico. I'm sure he is hairy and tan and latin looking now, a kind of hippyfied Antonio Banderas, except skinny and weird. Little does he know that he will be sleeping in the tv closet, because that is where Holly has shunned him to.

Christian makes the best Kamut pancakes. We have this honey that we get from the farmer's market, from Round Rock, and it is absolutely amazing. SOOOOO much better than stuff from the store. Real healthy, too, and good for allergies.

Hamilton is big. We are taking him to the river tomorrow with Hannah and Scotty.

Groove is my bonsai tree. If I were cooler I'd post pictures up and stuff. He's a good little tree. A chinese juniper.
