The past and the mind and fear are like mathematics
FEAR plus MIND equals the PAST
The PAST plus FEAR equals the MIND
The MIND plus PAST equals FEAR
it's a closed equation
where the answers are equal and balanced
who wishes to live in this cycle?
Use subtraction.
Subtract the MIND
and what it tells us about
our PAST and our FEAR
Subtract the mind
without it
the others disappear
Subtract the mind
through addition.
Add in acceptance
Add in compassion
either will do
And this addition will
upset the balanced equation of suffering

When to start the math lesson?
When to apply yourself and why not trust
that the mind will fall away of it's own accord?
Do not forget that
Complacency is the illusion that tomorrow is coming
And trusting that your fear will fade in good time
may turn into
Fear looking like the old skin on the back of your hands
And at times...
Trust can sometimes be the illusion that life is going to go your way

Effort is just as much an illusion as complacency
but one FEELS different than the other
So go ahead and try this math out sometime

For acceptance should be wielded like an axe
because we can not chase away the monkey mind
but it will leave of it's own accord
when there are fewer branches to swing upon
our axe marks upon the tree trunk

And compassion is the empty cupboard
because we can not let go of hungry fear
but it will leave when there is no more food to eat

No amount of trying can make your mind go away....
when the soul is ready
no amount of trying
can make it stay

Mind Bind [Jul. 21st, 2008|11:38 pm]

healingdrysuits
You won't mind
when caught in a bind
if your mind is free
because only then will you see
that what caused the bind
was always that mind
and now you are free
free
free
until the next moment
when it comes rushing back
to remind you that you should worry
and move about as if in a hurry
and control
control
control
to no avail whatsover
because it will fail, fail, fail
to achieve the results desired
and
in the end there is
only one result desired
by every single one of us

and it is
to speak
in a voice we can not use
to utter words
whose meaning and articulation
are elusive and lost in dreams
to hear a true voice
and realize that it is our own
to see
that we are capable of rest
to feel
our burdens laid down
so that we may rise
to die
before we die
so that we may live life alive
and unburdened by the mind
that seeks to save us
but in doing so
creates the bind

Hi All... Anchoring [Jul. 14th, 2008|01:07 am]

fewtch
I'm back after a four month hiatus (the rug went out from under for awhile there... pfft).  Things are more stable now, and I'm currently blogging on gurusfeet.com.  Thought I'd contribute something here too, as it's been awhile.

Anchoring

Be entirely anchored in your own Being. Look out through your own eyes
only. Never wonder again "what that person thinks of me".  Stop 'putting
yourself in the other person's shoes' for awhile, and live wholly from your own.

Do this one thing thoroughly, and there's no need anymore for a "me".

Arguing with the Present Moment [Jul. 10th, 2008|11:28 pm]

healingdrysuits
Me: Hey baby what's up?

The Present Moment (TPM): Don't 'hey baby' me...not right "now"...I don't even want to talk to you right now?

Me: Ummm...okay (looks at ground).  Maybe if you just talked it out-

TPM: (blurts out loud) You're seeing someone else aren't you!!  Just admit it, you bastard!!

Me: No, certainly not, I swear it.

TPM: Oh yeah?  Then what we you doing just a few minutes ago?

Me:  Baby, I just got home...with you...you were in the car next to me!

TPM: I can't take the lies any longer Charlie...I saw you with her...right in front of me practically, it was all I could do to not freak out.

Me: Uh. Look.  There was only  you and I in that car, you're not making sense.

TPM:  OH come off it.  She was all over you!  You ran a red light Charlie!  You beeped your horn at somebody for god's sake.  Oh yes...I can see the lipstick on your face.  And we didn't even have anything to do once we got home.  There was nothing to be "late" for.  Nothing that was worth  a speeding ticket...

Me: Okay, I admit it, I admit it....I was seeing someone, but it hasn't been that much...just when I'm in a hurry or late for something...y'know?

TPM: Oh Charlie...how has it come to this?  Just say it...I need to hear it with my own two ears...who are you seeing?

Me:  Baby...I have been seeing The Future Moment. (gulps)

TPM:  What  has she got that I don't have Charlie...give it to me straight, I can handle the truth.

Me: Well...Present Moment...that is sort of why I like her.  I mean...she doesn't have much to do with truth.  Sometimes I want a break from
ever present nonduality.  Sometimes, when I don't like where you and I are at...all that emptiness gets to be so unfamiliar sometimes.  So, when I can't connect with you I need some loving from somewhere else babe.  Sorry.  But the Future Moment tells me what I want to hear.

TPM:  You mean she makes promises she won't keep just to make you happy...

Me: Yeah, well, you got me there.  She pretty much never turns out to be what I really dreamed of.  She keeps changing on me by the time I get there.

TPM: Is that why you were driving so fast today?

Me: Yeah, I had this notion of things I wanted to do when I got home.  I just wanted something I could count on...something I could make happen...even something small, like make it home in time to watch my favorite TV show.  Silly, I know...but sometimes I just need to count on something more than just you...more than just the Present Moment.  So, I look for the Future Moment...she tells me what I want, shows me all my dreams.

TPM: I understand Charlie...I guess it hurts, but it makes sense.

Me: Hold on there...you say "I guess it hurts"....that doesn't sound like it really bothers you as much as it should.

TPM:  That's because I know you will always come back to me Charlie...there really is no other for you and we both know that.  So there is no reason for jealousy on my part....you'll come back eventually...they all do.  Because I am the only moment that is real.

Invitation to participate in on-line research study (Links Below)

FWBO News is pleased to pass on this request for volunteers to take part in an on-line project looking at some of the effects of meditation. I would really appreciate your help!

Hi there,I'm Rebecca, a Mitra with the Letchworth FWBO group.

I'm currently doing some research for my MSc project that involves looking at some aspects of attitudes and personality, as well as some of the effects of meditation.  You don't have to be a meditator to take part, however!

I'm looking for volunteers who would like to take part in the study. It will be available online in the next few weeks, and will consist of some questionnaires (about 20 mins) and two very short experiments (less than 5 minutes each).

In total, participation should take around 30-40 minutes, and can be done wherever you have an internet connection and a Flash plug-in (most computers have this already).

"We are going to submit this research to an academic journal so that it can be published, and the results will be available to anyone who is interested. If are interested in taking part, please click the links below. Do pass it on to anyone you know who might be interested, or please feel free to contact me if you would like more information, with no obligation to take part at any stage. Thanks for your time!

"With Metta,
"Rebecca
MSc Student (Research Methods in Cognitive Neuropsychology)
BPS Transpersonal Psychology PsyPAG representative
Division of Teacher and Researchers in Psychology PsyPAG representative

Below are the 'instructions' and links for the study. There are four links, the first of which will take you to the information and questionnaire page, and should take around 30-40 minutes to complete. The two next links will take you to two very short experiments (less than 5 minutes each).

Once you have completed these parts, you can go to the final link, which will tell you about the study in more detail. Please don't click on this before taking part!

We've already seen a photo of Paris Hilton toting a copy of Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now, prior to Oprah's volcanic eruption of publicity for Tolle. Now nonduality continues to break onto the world's entertainment pages as it slowly seeps into every corner of everyone's lives.

The following is from the Life & Style page of the Sydney Morning Herald:

David Jones's topless ambassador Miranda Kerr managed to give New Age guru Abdi Assad some of the best product placement ever this week after she used his book Shadows On The Path to cover herself from the paparazzi who found her sunbaking in Spain with boyfriend Orlando Bloom.

Further investigation suggests such use of the book was more practical than any attempt to decipher its somewhat convoluted message. Even the promo material seems impenetrable: "This non-dual meditation and memoir compels us to experience and integrate the elusive, uncomfortable, undigested parts of our humanity which lurk beyond our conscious gaze, individually and culturally." Who says models are dumb?

genderpac

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young.  GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at:  www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the United States.

i'm really excited that this community exists. i came across it because i wanted to publicize a project that's particularly important to me:

a couple of students at rice (in houston tx) started a forum online to encourage ordinary individuals to find time to discuss major life questions. the problem is, we rely too much on "experts" to tell us about politics, philosophy, and spirituality, homogenizing our perceptions of the world to save time. if you're interested in taking part in the discussion, the website is http://www.betweenaduck.com, with the forum located at http://betweenaduck.com/phpBB3/

[Current Mood | peaceful]

Don't know if this has been posted before. If not, why? lol. It's all you need to 'know'. It's from the Ashtavakra Gita:

The Clear Space of Awareness

The man who is pure of heart
Is bound to fulfill himself
In whatever way he is taught.

A worldly man seeks all his life,
But is still bewildered.

Detached from the senses,
You are free.

Attached, you are bound.

When this is understood,
You may live as you please.

When this is understood,
The man who is bright and busy
And full of fine words
Falls silent.

He does nothing.
He is still.

No wonder
Those who wish to enjoy the world
Shun this understanding!

You are not your body.
Your body is not you.

You are not the doer.
You are not the enjoyer.

You are pure awareness,
The witness of all things.

You are without expectation,
Free.

Wherever you go,
Be happy!

Desire and aversion are of the mind.
The mind is never yours.
You are free of its turmoil.

You are awareness itself,
Never changing.

Wherever you go,
Be happy.

For see!
The Self is in all beings,
And all beings are in the Self.

Know you are free,
Free of "I,"
Free of "mine."

Be happy.

In you the worlds arise
Like waves in the sea.

It is true!
You are awareness itself.

So free yourself
From the fever of the world.

Have faith, my Child, have faith.

Do not be bewildered.

For you are beyond all things,
The heart of all knowing.

You are the Self.
You are God.

The body is confined
By its natural properties.

It comes,
It lingers awhile,
It goes.

But the Self neither comes nor goes.
So why grieve for the body?

If the body lasted till the end of time,
Or vanished today,
What would you win or lose?

You are pure awareness.

You are the endless sea
In whom all the worlds like waves
Naturally rise and fall.

You have nothing to win,
Nothing to lose.

Child,
You are pure awareness,
Nothing less.

You and the world are one.

So who are you to think
You can hold on to it,
Or let it go?

How could you!

You are the clear space of awareness,
Pure and still,
In whom there is no birth,
No activity,
No "I."

You are one and the same.
You cannot change or die.

You are in whatever you see.
You alone.

Just as bracelets and bangles
And dancing anklets
Are all of the same gold.

"I am not this."
"I am He."
Give up such distinctions.

Know that everything is the Self.
Rid yourself of all purpose.

And be happy.

The world only arises from ignorance.
You alone are real.

There is no one,
Not even God,
Separate from yourself.

You are pure awareness.

The world is an illusion,
Nothing more.

When you understand this fully,
Desire falls away.

You find peace.

For indeed!
There is nothing.

In the ocean of being
There is only one.

There was and there will be
Only one.

You are already fulfilled.
How can you be bound or free?

Wherever you go,
Be happy.

Never upset your mind
With yes and no.

Be quiet.
You are awareness itself.

Live in the happiness
Of your own nature,
Which is happiness itself.

What is the use of thinking?

Once and for all,
Give up meditation.
Hold nothing in your mind.

You are the Self,
And you are free.

The world is not real and either are you.

Paradox [Jun. 3rd, 2008|02:47 am]

healingdrysuits
Opposites don't attract
nor do they repel
they give you room though
room to move around in between them
you must approach one
not to have the other
but to love the other
thus
to have been familiar with hate
is to deeply enjoy the softness of love
to have fumbled getting nervous words out
is to relish your own silent tongue
to have attempted to reach very high
is to love feeling the ground underneath your back
to have tried over and over to be right
is to be enthralled with the deliciousness of being wrong
to have lived for years in the future
is to joyously dance in the present moment
to have been me
is to not have been you
may this writing give you some room
to move in between
and find appreciation in both
because
to have been me and you in duality
is the chance to love one another
and live in truth

it's kinda' like water [Jun. 2nd, 2008|01:11 pm]

mr_goose
(this is posted on my page. thought i'd put it here too. the form is sllighty different but it's pretty much the same post. cheers!)

Why is it that the less there is in water, the better it tastes? One, never says, ooh, this water could use a little extra something. It's just not the case.

The tastiest water is the water that has no taste. Water is best drunk, or tasted, in it's pure unadulterated state. How do you know when you have the very best, purest water, tastiest water? Simple. When you can no longer taste anything except water.

The truth (nonduality) is like that.

Truth and duality [May. 25th, 2008|03:03 pm]

healingdrysuits
If someone speaks and we agree with them...we call it truth

If someone speaks and we do not agree with them...we might not agree and call it 'their reality' or 'their delusion'

But there are some spoken things that contain gravity within them and moments that weigh down every witness no matter who they are or what they believe. There are some truths that are ultimate and non negotiable, regardless of who speaks them, regardless of whose ears receive them.

Nonduality and Choice [May. 19th, 2008|07:56 pm]

healingdrysuits
No ND posting for 8 days? What has happened to this once thriving list? My goodness...I may as well say something!

With duality we believe we have a choice and that somehow our choices led to the desired results

With nonduality we directly experience that choice is something that, when exercised, helped us shift internally, but externally nothing has ever been affected and the results never bore our fingerprints.
