Open source!
LiveJournal's always been very open-source friendly, publishing the protocol and making the source for all the clients available, but now we've released the source to everything under the GPL.

Curious how LJ works on the inside? The source is here. Read the lj_dev announcement for more information.

I'd post more now and advocate open source or explain why this won't kill LiveJournal (in fact, it'll help!), but it's a nice day out and there are dozens of websites out there explaining why open source works, so I'll save it for later.

For the next fund-raiser you can offer to name a variable after the contributer. They'd have to pay extra for constants.

I don't know why I have that "WTF is this?" comment on modify_time, because I do know what it's for, but maybe I was confused at one time.

This is way random (but I didn't know where to post it/send it to).

My entries are disappearing *again*
so far this morning, 3 of them have POOF disappeared when I hit update.

Just thought I'd let you know that the problem is back (at least in my world) and people are losing entries again (or at least I am losing them again).

I've had the same problem, though I think they aren't really disapearing (at least for me). Last night I went to update before I went to bed (this was at like, 2am), and when I went to see if it was on my journal, it wasn't. I figured, however, that it was just lagged or something ... and, yeah, when I woke up this morning, the entry that I had entered last night was finally there. I made an update already, and again it didn't show up ... but I'm thinking it eventually will...

*shrug*
