    Things which suck:

    1. Jobhunting.
    2. Wanted.
    3. My camera and laptop dying in the same week.

Things which, surprisingly, do not suck:

    1. Cashback.
    2. IBM's warranty service.
    3. Indiana Jones 4.

Things whose suck-function have not yet been collapsed:

    1. Pentax out-of-warranty service.
    2. War, Inc.
    3. The PCB design I sent the client last week.

    holy shit
    the SCOTUS got something right!

admittedly, only 5-4 and not the 9-0 it deserved, but I'll take what I can get.

    Held:
    1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.Pp. 2–53.
    (a) The Amendment’s prefatory clause announces a purpose, butdoes not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operativeclause. The operative clause’s text and history demonstrate that itconnotes an individual right to keep and bear arms. Pp. 2–22.

If I ever find myself needing to write a source code / revision control system, clearly it must be called 'perversion'. And have '--with-lube' and '--without-lube' commandline options.

This is pretty unlikely, since I'm pretty happy with SCCS and RCS. But hey, you never know.

    Also, IHTFP.

Y'know, there are many things I don't miss about the Newton -- the slowness, the fact that it weighs as much as my laptop, the fact that Apple made it -- but dear god, the handwriting recognition is so much better than anything that exists today.

...the service manual for my car feels the need to tell me that the instrument cluster is located "on the left side of the instrument panel" but won't tell me where the goddamned EGR valve is.

Does anyone here understand serial ports in Windows (XP, not that it should matter)?

I am incredibly and increasingly frustrated that Windoze insists on doing things like saying that the USB-to-serial converter I just plugged in should be COM44:, on a laptop with only one serial port (and maybe two or three virtual (RFCOMM, etc) ports). I have an awful lot of software that just plain won't accept com numbers that high and I wish I could get it to rearrange them in a useful way.

    Google is remarkably unelightening.

Is this a homicide or an accidental death? The main difference, of course, is how much paperwork you have to fill out.

Also, dear Universe: your sense of timing sucks.
