10:50 am - Crack open a butterbeer, and let's speculate.
The release of Deathly Hallows is only two days away. I've got Half-Blood Prince fresh in my memory. Here's my post from when I'd just finished reading it the first time (good lord, was it really two years ago?). Join me, if you dare, behind the cut, for some speculation and predictions about Book 7.
Does Man yet survive in this new world, or has the globe been subsumed by Wells's Morlocks? Perhaps you have truly mastered the art of lighter-than-air flight, and have constructed bright, shining cities on the surface of the very Moon itself? I hope you did not meet with excessive resistance from the natives. Please reply with all haste, as we are all eager to learn of our destiny in the impending Twentieth Century and beyond.

Hello, friends. We have come to a sad realization: our recently acquired fourth cat, Nic, is not fitting in with the already present feline household dynamic. We think that he and our other cats would all be happier if he were to move to a different home. We hope that you, or someone you know, will be able to provide that home.
Nic is a neutered male, approximately ten months old. He is in excellent health and up to date on all of his shots. He has a very sweet temperament and loves to cuddle. His purr is remarkably loud. Nic would be the perfect cat for a currently catless household.
We will ask for an adoption fee of $200 to help defray the medical costs of neutering (May 8) and vaccinations (April 24 and May 6). Thank you for your understanding.
Can you give a home to this adorable cat? We hope you can.

Reply here if you're interested, and I'll give you the details.
What if I told you that some guy on the Internet is watching the crappy first-season episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and writing lengthy, witty blog entries in which he mercilessly mocks the hell out of them?
Now, what if I told you that that guy is Wil Wheaton?
Do me a favor and help me promote MicroHorror.com, please? All you have to do is get a free account at Slash Horror, which is a voting/promotion-type thing for horror-related news and items, and vote for MicroHorror, which is in the pending queue. I'd really appreciate it if you helped. Thanks.
The After Dark Horrorfest is coming! Eight brand new horror movies will be screened in big chunks between Friday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 21. Among other locations, it's going to be at Owings Mills and Arundel Mills. Would anyone care to join me for some of this?
The three winners of the October contest at MicroHorror will each win one of these stylish shirts, and I'm taking orders at the low price of US$22. That includes free shipping inside the continental US.
Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.
10:04 pm - My ringtone is the Death Chant of the Black Cultists of Zegog.
Sigh. Jenesta is sad because she thinks I don't want to spend time cuddling and making love to her. The truth of it is that I am, at the moment, compelled to do two things: sleep and write. If I am not doing one, I want to be doing the other, and if I am called into bed, I will fall asleep. This, despite the fact that I love Jenesta dearly and find her very beautiful. But the compulsion to write will pass (probably brought on by writer's block sooner or later), and I swear that I'm going to see a doctor about this sleep apnea.
10:16 pm - Drove my Chevy to the Real Property Tax Levy
Heya, folks. Busy, busy. Jenesta and I are trying to plan a wedding while the house is collapsing around our ears. At least the plumbers who came out today did a good job-- the tub drains better than it has since we moved in. They didn't charge an arm and a leg, either. I hope I can say the same for the roofer when he comes later in the week, but I doubt it.
For our anniversary last week, I spent still more money that I can't afford by treating us to a night at the Admiral Fell Inn. Lovely room, with a nice king-sized bed and jacuzzi, both of which saw use. And True, the restaurant at the hotel, really is phenomenal. Some of the freshest, most impeccable local and organic ingredients it's ever been my pleasure to taste. The asparagus and prosciutto appetizer was transcendent.
So, yeah, money's tight. I'm paying all my bills on time, but it's getting to be quite a balancing act. Loans are helping a lot. I don't want to sound greedy, but I really hope that a few wealthy and generous relatives come out of the woodwork around the wedding.
At least the new gate I installed on the stairs seems to be working. Rabbit is stuck on the second floor, and Missy can now dance about the ground floor with absolute freedom. And I do mean dance-- she's sweet and cuddly, but she will not sit on your lap. Not when she can walk all over your chest and face. I don't like cat butt, and I'd prefer not to see it three inches from my nose when I'm trying to watch Futurama on DVD.
Blast from the past today. At the Giant, Jenesta and I ran into my third-grade Hebrew teacher, Eva Raden. Keep in mind that I haven't seen this woman in, what, fifteen years? She recognized me on sight, beard and all. And even with my notoriously awful memory for faces, I knew exactly who she was, because she hasn't changed at all. She's a really sweet old lady, and was easily my favorite teacher when I was a kid. We've invited her to the wedding. :)
Finally, MicroHorror.com is going great guns. The archive is growing, and submissions are coming in from all over the world! (I can say that, because I got a handful of stories from a guy in Spain.) Check it out if you haven't yet, and even if you have, check back to read the new stories. I'm very happy with the way it's turning out.
current mood: busy, but pleased current music: TMBG, "Careless Santa," stuck in my head for some reason

Since your accomplishments are seldom noticed, and you are rarely thought of, you are expendable. That doesn't mean your job isn't important but if you were in Star Trek you would be killed off in the first episode you appeared in.
