Renegade (part 1)
Back from Renegade! I have so many pictures, and so much to tell that I am going to break this up into three parts...day one, day two, and then all the loot I bought/traded for!
Lots more this way!
We started off leaving Maryland around 10:30pm (after Tom got off work) and arrived in Brooklyn at our hotel at about 4:30am. Now i9t should of only taken us 4 hours to get there, but one exit before our hotel exit there was an accident on 278 and we sat for about 45 minutes! So close, yet so far!! When we got to the hotel I wasn't susprised to see the parking lot only held about 4 cars. So we had to park a few blocks away and carry all of our stuff (in one trip because we are stubborn like that). We got to sleep around five, and woke up at seven. Neither of us could sleep so we decided to just get going.
We didn't have any trouble finding the park, and in fact didn't have any problems with getting lost on this trip, which was really great! The park was really nice and big, and had free parking all the way around it. So we got a good spot and took our stuff to set up. The picture above is our tent on day one.
This was actually suppose to go on my table (near the back) but it was so breezy that it would have never stayed standing (plus our spot was on a slight incline making the table lean forward abit) So we secured it to the ground instead.
I didn't really plan ahead too well (and forgot to bring my wire baskets that stack upwards) so the table was a bit full and the yarn had to go on top of the tote I brought some stuff in. It made it a little hard to search through, but it worked ok.
We had the best neighbors! On one side was the Department Of Craft http://www.departmentofcraft.com They all have their own websites, but come together to form this collective. All of the ladies were so sweet and nice! But Hannah really stood out to me, because she was so fun + talkative. Hannah makes these amazing skirts. I wanted to buy one, but I didn't want to have to try it on, or guess. So I told her I was going to order one once her website is up. She was so much fun to talk to and she smelled like cupcakes! Turns out she also makes and sells her own purfume (which she didn't have any with her) But I will be ordering some of too!
On the other side of us (and sort of jammed in next to a little tree) was
carryboo and her not husband. We loved them because they have that great witty banter. Bitter and synical...so fun! And come on she makes banana holders! Banana holders!!!
Day one was amazing, and I met so many folks. I am really bad with names (sorry) It was kind of crazy to look out at all the tents going around the whole big park (and a little overwhelming too) It was very very hot, but felt good in the shade. Which made it really hard to walk around and shop. I would make it halfway around and have to come back for water, icees, or more money haha. I did make it over to Art Stars booth once http://www.artstar.com They had lots of cool stuff from lots of different people. I ended up buying a bunch there.
Then Taryn http://mymy.girlswirl.net/ and Sarah http://www.thesmallobject.com came by. It was fun to see Taryn again, and meet Sarah for the first time (who drove something like 10 hours to get to Taryn's!) Got to talk to all kinds of crafty ladies, some who I have seen before, and some that I have never had the pleasure to meet. Susie
boygirlparty Jenny http://www.cutxpaste and I laughed about how everyone takes on their website moniker. We just don't have real names anymore :) Tom said he just makes it their last name like we always say Tina Seamonster (http://www.ilikeseamonsters.com) when we talk about Tina (who was not there by the way because she is way pregnant with twins!
Alright, thats all you get for now.....more later! Oh and I will be updating half of the yarn that did not sell later today, and then the other half tomorrow! Plus look for updates to include the library totes, nurse dolls, and milk dolls!
