Resolution I used to think LJ was cool.
Then I thought it was the root of all evil.
Now I realize that I have a lot to say, and I should say it. Look for my LJ to become a little more active. I know y'all are thrilled. Woohoo!

Cassie I wish I could have posted a reply to Cassie's pic.
We miss you, Dee. And Lili misses Cassie. I hope all is well with you. | | Thursday, March 21st, 2002 | | 10:20 pm |
Is this a haiku? I have no idea Does it have to be that our childishness hurts those who love us most? | | Monday, February 4th, 2002 | | 11:14 am |

Am I a bad father? So, Lili and I are in the backyard playing (a favorite pastime of ours), and she decides she is going to lie on her back and look at the sky. It was dusk, the wind was blowing and scattered clouds were flying past. Through the clouds, the moon made brief appearances. Lili exclaims "The mooooon! The mooooooon!". So, what do I do?
"Lili," I say, "what do we do when we see the moon?" "Dunno." "We howl. Oooooooooo! A-oooooooooooooooooo!" "Oooooooooo! Ooooooo!"
So now, every time she sees the moon, she howls at it.
And, the other day, she decides she loves Pinky and the Brain. Of course this pleases Dada to no end. Animaniacs, PATB, and Freakazoid are some of the most brilliant, well-done cartoons ever devised. We've even got 2 original production cels from the first season of the Animaniacs, one of PATB and one of the Warners.
Anyway, we've been watching a lot of PATB, singing the theme song. And, on her own, at the end of the theme song, she says "Narf!"
Now, you can sing, "They're dinky, they're Pinky and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain..."
"Narf!"
Holy Moly, I love that little girl. | | Wednesday, December 19th, 2001 | | 8:02 am |
Guess it's time to go on a diet...
The African bullfrog, or Pixie frog as it is often called (because of it's latin name, not because it's as cute as a fairy!), is one of the largest frogs in South Africa. Usually, they hang out in open grassland, and if there are any to be found, they'll sit around in puddles. When startled, these frogs will blow up like balloons to scare away the intruder! In the dry season, they will burrow into the ground. These guys eat lots and lots of really big bugs, fish, mice, lizards, and even other frogs. What kind of Frog are you? Those crazy God-a-fearin'-mo-fo's! The Internet is wonderful. Whenever there is something I need to know more about, first thing I head for is the internet. Today I got the hiccups for the first time in years. And I wanted to see what I could find regarding a cure. Yahoo search for hiccup. This is the first link that came up. I read through the cure, gave it a shot, and, hallelujah! It worked! I continued reading. There was a brief explanation of the physiological causes of hiccups. Then, to my shock and amazement, this appears: NOW - nothing happens in God's world without a reason! Everybody gets the hiccups - and thousands of people hit this site. Maybe this why you really got the hiccups. It's WAKE-UP time! Find out what's going to happen to the world in the immediate future! We offer a $1000.00 reward to ANYONE who can offer a decent rebuttal to "Secret of the Scroll" as found in the "End of the World Secret." Oh, livejournal I suppose I have no room to complain. I am not a paid member. My wife is (twice over), but, yeah, I shouldn't complain.
Damn but its impossible to enjoy this website from about 4pm to midnight. Its horrible. And whether you are a paid member or not, it matters not.
I have a much longer rant/rave session in the wings for LJ. Keep an eye out for it, my legions of friends! | | 9:23 pm |
All powder... all the time.
I'm sick of it (not literally, of course). Geez, it feels like we are back in the 80's again, only this powder apparently doesn't make you feel quite as good.
Why are we freaking out about this? I hazard a guess that more people die every day by slipping in their bathtub than will die from anthrax over the next 5 years.
My feeling is that the media is blowing it all out of proportion, because they were targeted. I don't know anyone who is sincerely concerned about contracting anthrax, much less dying from it. | | Tuesday, October 23rd, 2001 | | 5:11 pm |
Florida is one fucked up state, but... my illustrious state of Texas certainly ranks right up there.
Gov. Rick Perry recently led an organized prayer along with a minister at a middle school in East Texas. His stance is that, in these trying times, the need to turn to a higher being is natural, and he sees absolutely nothing wrong with ignoring the Supreme Court's ruling against organized school prayer.
That's fucked up. This was no non-denominational prayer. This was a Christian prayer, complete with pleas to Jesus Christ.
What is he trying to teach our kids? That if you don't like a law, ignore it? Great.
I'll try that reasoning out on the next cop that pulls me over for speeding. "Hello, officer! I just thought, in these trying times, that it was important to get to work on time. So I ignored the law." or "Officer, in these trying times, its important for us to find a release, so I had a few beers before hitting the road."
Yeah, these Christian fundies are a LOT better than the Islamic fundies.
Its nice to know that God is on OUR side in this war. Then again, when hasn't He been? | | Thursday, October 18th, 2001 | | 12:00 am |

Fall has Officially Arrived. Everything in the yard is coated with a thin layer of oak tree turds. | | Thursday, October 4th, 2001 | | 6:51 pm |
She is the most special girl in the whole world. She is going to make a difference on This Earth. When she was a tiny infant, and she would fight sleep, I would cuddle up to her and sing... Lily, Lily, Lily, she's my little girl. Lily, Lily, Lily, she's Dada's pretty girl. Lily, Lily, Lily, she's my little girl. Lily, Lily, Lily's my pretty girl.... Worked every time. Even now, when she is upset and tired, I can sing this song to her, and she will fall asleep in my arms. I wouldn't trade the feeling that gives me for anything. Here's a picture of Lily when we first brought her home from the hospital: | | Tuesday, October 2nd, 2001 | | 10:24 pm |
I didn't catch the original interview, but you know how CNN has that "ticker news" thing going on?
Laura Bush apparently said that Americans should turn to faith to deal with this tragedy.
Excuse me, but didn't the terrorists do the same thing? | | Thursday, June 21st, 2001 | | 7:09 pm |
Just ran across this picture of the bug. | | Sunday, June 17th, 2001 | | 7:04 pm |
