A very glittery ballet [Jul. 25th, 2008|12:44 pm]
Unplanned day at home as my ankle is very swollen, last night heat, tight bandage and uncomfy seating at the coliseum didn’t really help.
Being very boring and seating with feet up at home chatting to my house guests…need to be fully repaired for tomorrow Theatres des vampires gig. Not fair both Simon and I are off  but not in the same physical place boooo......

Last night Spartacus
Definitely the sparkliest and most glittery ballet ever. Very enjoyable, never seen so many dancers and opera singers on stage (200), fabulous set and some impressive dancing.
The jumps and sword fights were very impressive and watching lots of centurions fighting in sparkly roman outfits is quite something…shame they didn’t allowed the tiger on stage (had to stay in Russia, English health and safety)
Quite over the top and camp! one of the most entertaining ballet I have seen.
The longest ever applause session at the end, they just didn't want to leave or stop...they came back at least 10 times...

Tartarus & Spartacus [Jul. 24th, 2008|08:22 am]
Tartarus turn out to be a lovely night out, got to properly catch up with lots of friends and some I wasn’t expecting.
Yesterday was the female dj night and a good variety of music throughout, I somehow even managed to get told off by the barman for ordering my drink in English (I hadn’t quite realised he was a real French person)

It was hard to leave early especially as the place was really filling up with friends by then, but I really needed to rest my foot properly and the bandage started to become unbearable…

Tonight I will be seeing lots of man fighting in tights ;-)
Spartacus has over 200 artists on stage,  this is the most extravagant dance spectacular on offer in the capital this summer..

Back home with post Amphi injuries [Jul. 23rd, 2008|09:30 am]
Back at work today and spent the first hour at the doctor.
My ankle has now got a fetching bandage and feet rest has been expressed (apart from Tartarus, Ballet and Theatres des Vampires gig coming I will do my best at it)

Amphi was very good, lots of fun, lots of surreal moments, lots of sun and rain and lots of bands (saw about 20).
The best bit was PHANTASILAND...purely awesome

A bit like a small Mera Luna with flushing toilets and a town near by.
On the Saturday night, I managed to found the one pot hole on the road leaving the festival and decided to twist my ankle on it.

For the rest the festival it was sore but I still managed to watch lots of bands, tip toes as much as I could to them, dance around my umbrella/supportcane but the constant back and forth between both venues did not really helped and each day ended with a strange alien looking swollen ankle
At least I was realistic and did not climb the church spire steps as planned on Monday…

Anyway nothing life threatening, the nurse said it was a very bad strain and it should hurt a bit for maybe a week or less.

Must sort emails mayhem and I shall post properly about Amphi.

Kensal Green or Gone with the Wind [Jul. 16th, 2008|01:51 pm]
[Current Music |Umbra & Imago-Vampir song]

I have just received a few photos from Henry taken on his old fashion camera...whilst we were wondering around Kensal Green Cemetery a few weeks back.
Love the angles and colours on those.

Sunday: The Fields of the Nephilim [Jul. 14th, 2008|12:25 pm]
[Current Music |LaM_Revenge]

On Sunday we couldn’t quite make it out of bed, tired, aching and feeling so so sleepy...
Attempt at venturing out and doing things failed that day, breakfast and an episode of avenger later we returned to snooze some more…
Still groggy we did manage to go to Bento and I might have produced another fan.
At 6pm we got to O’Neil pub and met up with everyone before the gig.

Got in the venue in time for Pythia, really enjoyed them and will definitely be a band to see again and get the album.
Fields of the Nephilim, apart from the horrible sweaty tower bullies, it was awesome, little by little we managed to move a bit away for the violent mosh pit and get a wonderful front space. I haven’t been that sandwich that much in a long time, but it was worth every minutes.
This was my first ever FOTN gig and I was utterly impressed by it, I didn’t quite recognise every songs but it was really powerful and intense.

Very enjoyable gigs and socially great fun.

My camera is so crap at gigs..that were the best of the bunch...

The Chaps Olympiads (Saturday) [Jul. 14th, 2008|12:06 pm]
[Current Music |E Nomite _Vanter Unser]

Despite only a few hours sleep, this was one of the best events this year.

So much fun, it’s exactly why I always wanted to live in the Uk, it was like stepping in an Avengers episode, being surrounded by well spoken and dress gentleman, ladies in hats, a place were cravats are a must, the air if full of pipe smoking fume, no-one is seen without his bowler hat or cane, picnic is about Style, Champagne and Pimms…Utterly wonderful.

We started the day in the Garden Gate to meet everyone and sample some frulli beer.
A long trek on the Hampstead heath following the clues ( Andy and I got everyone there without any mishap or getting lost) then we found :
A clearing full of hundreds of chaps and chappettes ready for a relaxing fun day.

The day was full of pipe smoking relay, cucumber sandwiches throwing, [info]simonsatori  taking part in mustache wrestling, us ladies taking part in bounder where we were to slap men for their rudeness, gin hoping competition, gentlemen showing off their perfect trouser creases….just fabulous….

The end came too soon and we had to make our way across London to a wedding reception.
We travelled to a lovely Pub on the Thames in Putney.
Lovely to see ex work colleague I miss so much, Violet looked resplendiscent in her gold wedding gown and my ex manager was so drunk , I got so many hugs, love declaration and general silliness....

The photos will really do the talking I think…

Friday: The Batcave [Jul. 14th, 2008|08:31 am]
[Current Music |Lacrimosa]

Let’s start with Friday night: The Batcave.
Music wise I wasn’t too sure about it, but being organised by the Antichrist team I knew it would be worth going along. It was a good night, very busy and more fishnets and mohawks than usual AC events.
Thanks to Johny Slut and friends, Simon became his last minute guest and got some nice little collection record to take home with us.
We got there in time for the McCarrick, not bad and the girl from Client also sang with them.
Avoidance of Doubt I always like and added that extra energy on stage.
Specimen, well what a good surprised, I knew more songs that I thought, and I really enjoyed their set.
Sadly I had to miss the end and most of Sex Gang Children, to go and get ready for the fashion show which really involved standing in the ladies toilet for a few hours…!

I love Veil of Visions creations, especially her hats; I can’t say I felt that comfortable or sexy in my outfit at all, too short and not very flattering for my size. I kind of felt like a little PVC puff ball…still it seemed to amused everyone to see me grumping and in a very short skirt…
Finally around 2 am after Sex Gang ended we did our stuff on stage…I was all set to do it well, elegantly and slowly but as soon as I set on stage a certain mob (which will remain nameless) started cheering madly … making all plans disappear and giggling instead ensued.

Once I was back in my own clothes (with a new lovely little white hat for service done), we stayed a bit, I think standing about waiting around in in loos made me more tired than actual dancing. Enthusiasm and energy seemed slightly gone by then…still the venue looked fab, lots of webs, coffins, sofas; the usual dungeons had become an arty room...

The music was okay and it was fun to see the band still at it, different members from the bands were back on stage again, doing some jamming and covers. Any Specimen hardcore fans will have had a field day.

By 3am we decided to make our way home, froze to death in Vauxhall bus station for over an hour (are we really in July?) and finally got to Camden just before 5am…

Vote for NFD [Jul. 11th, 2008|12:13 pm]
[Current Music |Lacrimosa_sanctus]

NFD are taking part in a music festival competition "Sound Sanctuary" in September, there's a bunch of other bands playing, go vote for NFD now!
Funnily enough they're playing alongside a load of "normal" bands, support the alternative to the alternative and cast your votes!!! It only takes a minute and might make a big difference to NFD

I have joined the millennium [Jul. 11th, 2008|08:34 am]
[Current Music |Lacrimosa_alliene zut zweit]

I have done the scary and radical jump from a cassette walkman to an MP3.

[info]stevek  was being a star last night and as well as selling me that strange little gadget ,  he also cleared my PC, show me how to fill it up with music and do lots of general healthy stuff to my computer (including that emptying the bin stuff…)

I am ready for Amphi; I have filled the little thing with some music but most importantly Audio book...so I can fall asleep in the hotel listening to Holy Blood Holy Grail … dream of Teutonic nuns and Rosicrucians. I have to say it was easier than i feared.

I haven’t yet had the heart to bin my old walkman…it has been a faithful tool for so long…
