I'm feeling a thousand kinds of antsy. I have no idea why. Like I'm all restless and shit. It's weird as hell because I'm sitting here thinking about working on commission and tradey stuff, but just the idea of sitting still, just actually sitting still is driving me bonkers. At least I get to have some vacation time of a sort, I'm going over to Denver the last weekend in July, so that's a good thing. Ok, do people just not understand the concept of organization and communication? Because apparently the school at which I'm working does neither of those things. Ever. Because I expected today to know where I was supposed to be holding my elective art class for the high school kids. Well we're not going to have electives this week until they've figured out which kids have which classes. The fuck?!?! So we're doing this lame-ass "teambuilding" stuff with the students. And all of it is just really retarded and worthy of little but me rolling my eyes at it. Ugh, day one back and I'm already in frustration mode again. Is it too much to ask to have just a few little things? Like a classroom, and some construction paper? I am so tired of this. Plus, I'm fine with coming up with lesson ideas for the 7-12 grade, but I don't do well with little kids. I'm running low on ideas. *headdesk*

I'm lonely, I'm cranky, I'm hungry (because the hubby is being stupid and won't be hungry until oh...10 at night for dinner), and I just want to curl up in a ball and cry. But I can't even do that, I feel like some kind of damned emotional void. All I've got is pissed off. Not so fun thanks. *sigh*

Sorry guys, I know you probably don't watch my journal to hear me rant and post nothing else once every three months.

I'm so tired of not being able to accomplish anything. I mean, I'm trying to juggle teaching and another job and my online class work. Lets just say the teaching is probably more than I can handle with everything else. And these people expect such elaborate assignment work from me, and I'm supposed to do this that and the other thing with my students. Well I only have limited time with them a week, I have VERY limited materials, and a lot of the crap I'm supposed to be doing is not geared to an art class environment. It makes me want to scream. They just can't possibly understand that art really doesn't involve a lot of group discussion, and partner work, and group work. That's for organized lecture style classes. That's not what art class is, and if I tried to make it that...well...honestly I think it would be boring as hell, not just for my students but for me. *sigh* I'm tired. And I'm wondering why the hell I'm doing this. I'm missing chunks of assignments, and I don't have the time to try and catch up. I can't take any days off my other job because it's vacation blackout because of the Christmas rush. AAAGHHHH.

AAAAGAHDSFLADJSFLASDKFJ!!! Yes, exactly that. I want a day off. A real one. No teaching, no working at Borders, no homework, no expectations. I need to art again SO BAD! It's driving me nutsy. But here comes the Christmas holiday season...OMFG. *stab* Which mean smore hours at Borders, and more stress on me because I have to have all the examples of my student teaching crap in by the 22nd of December...and I'm not anywhere NEAR having any of that stuff documented. And I'm tired and cranky. And I need to get Christmas presents done, but then...when am I going to have time for that?! *headdesk* Help! Errmmm...yeah, anyway I've decided I'm not buying Christmas presents for myself this year because um...I never go them? Granted there are understandable circumstances, so I'm not that peeved or anything, just a lil dissapointed maybe? I just feel like I need to be done with everything, because every time I try to find some sort of something for myself that I really really think I'm doing well with, or that I enjoy...it gets slaughtered in the crush of everything else.

Apparantly this has become my ranting journal. Because that's all I seem to do here anymore. Yeesh. I really really really don't like this baptism by fire shit. That's exactly what this teaching position is. I'm getting paid crap (though, at least I'm getting paid instead of being an indentured servant, which is what student teaching is), and it's completely draining all my energy. I'm running out of lesson plans because I have VERY LIMITED materials. I have no classroom. I have limited time. Let me tell you that 30 minutes for an art class (no matter what age) is not nearly enough.

The 7th graders are running me into the ground. I tried to do a fun project with them on Thursday, which involved stepping into tubs of paint and walking/running/jumping across a long piece of butcher paper. ABSOLUTE DISASTER! They got paint EVERYWHERE, on the sidewalk, on each other. I had 5 kids who actually helped me clean up. The rest of them were inside being disrespectful to other classes that were trying to work. I didn't say they could go inside. I almost freaking gave all of them detention. I should have, I really should. They have absolutely no respect for anything. Ugh. I really can't teach them that.

*headdesk* I was supposed to spend this year learning HOW to be a teacher, not flying by the seat of my pants. Really. I'm just learning how much I'd like to duct tape them to their chairs and tape their mouths shut. Anyone else think this was a bad idea for me? I really did think I wanted to do it.

Anyone know how to bribe a class of 20 some 7th/8th graders to behave? I got dumped with a class of them...actually they were ripped out of PE, without notice, and given to me for the rest of the semester apparantly, without a choice in the matter. They don't want art, they want PE. They will not listen, they will not pay attention, they won't shut up, they won't participate. They are disrespectful. All they do is whine about how much they want PE. WTF am I supposed to do? Flunk the whole damn class? Because that's where it's heading right now. I may have TWO that are actually semi-interested. Fuuuuuuck....I'm in over my head here. I was SUPPOSED to be learning how to teach, not be thrown in head first without any idea of what the FUCK I'm doing. Heeeeaaadddache. Anyone got any ideas of potentially fun stuff I could do with them?

And the thing that probably pisses me off the most is that they (the administration) just said, here...have another class. We pulled them out of PE and told them they now have art instead. They didn't give me a roster of all their names, and they didn't tell me that these kids didn't have a choice!! I mean, you'd think they could have compromised and done PE for half the time and art for half the time or something.

I'm going to go cry now.

Well, I basically had what amounts to a kind of orientation today. I am doing what is called an "alternative licensure program" through Western State College. Which means I'll be actually teaching while I'm also doing online classes to get my teaching certification. Today I got to meet all the teachers that I'll be working with. It's a really small school. So I don't get my own classroom, I'll be bouncing around all day from grade to grade. A half hour here, 45 minutes there. You get the idea.

But anyway, the high school kids were amusing as hell. Most of them are wannabe goth, emo, anime freaks, etc. If any of you are familiar with the anime/manga Naruto, then you'll know what I'm talking about here. At least three or four of them (out of 17) were wearing the Naruto leaf village headband things. And one of them, swear to god, had her hair dyed light pink and was totally going for a Sakura vibe. And another one of them, a boy that could have been her boyfriend though I don't know, was totally Satsuke. It was highly amusing. It was all I could do not to laugh.

And one of the girls mentioned something about DeviantART, and I said I had a gallery there. Just tonight she started watching my gallery. Oh man...this is just way too funny. More insanity to come tomorrow I'm sure.
