Japanese in the bus

This morning in the bus to university I was reading a Japanese book (just text - to be specific, HDM 1 ^-^). The inside is on the picture I took of the HDM books which is posted on my Japan site. At one point a woman sat down in the seat next to me and she looked at my book and she asked if I was reading Chinese or Japanese (bonus point: most people think Japanese = Chinese). So I explained the difference between both languages and how you can recognize them even when you don't know Japanese/Chinese. Then we continued talking about why I knew Japanese / what I was studying [not Japanese] and she had a Japanese friend from Okinawa (how cool! I want to go to Okinawa sometime!) who said she should come over to eat sushi. She had studied law and then economics and now she's working in Rijnsweerd (close to university). I also gave her the address of my Japan-site so she could read more about it. So useful I finished over half of that site already XD Also good that I can point people to there because if I start talking about Japan and the language and everything there's so much to tell XD
We also talked about HDM, and I said the movie of the first book (which I had read 11 years ago for the first time XD) was coming out this week. She said she remembered a trailer for that and she might look into buying the book too. I already saw the movie-editions of the trilogy: a picture from this first movie on all three covers, just different background colours.
This evening I also read a review of the movie in the newspaper [spoiler-less]. It went like this:
"Not as good as Lord of the Rings... Lyra = Frodo, alithiometer = Ring, bear = Gandalf ['bear' meaning Iorek, but he was also called the "wise bear"... I wonder what they did to him in the movie XD I wouldn't call him that...]... not as good as Lord of the Rings... mix of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter and Narnia... [author of that review didn't look at the book's dates?] not as good as Lord of the Rings... Every year in December they want to get the next movie in theaters... not as good as Lord of the Rings... the concept of daemons and parallel worlds is interesting... but not as good as Lord of the Rings..."
Hmmm whatever XD

YFU + drawings

Today there was another YFU information meeting. Other returnees present were from South Africa [high school], America [1 high school, 2 college programs], Uruguay, and one girl from Argentina who is currently in the Netherlands. In the break the returnees talked to people who wanted to go on exchange. Of the students, no-one was interested in Japan [last time there were 3 people], but the parents of one of the students had lived in Japan 20 years ago and they go on holiday to Japan every once in a while and they've had a Japanese exchange student and an adopted Japanese daughter, so we talked about Japan :) I miss the food (>.>)
On December 15th, there will be another information meeting. I'll go there too.

Two new images added to the PKNA comic (1 comic page, 1 normal drawing) and one other fanart drawing [Sailormoon/Sakura Taisen]. Next up are a few pictures in Disney-style [1 for Bookmooch, 1 Disneyland-related, 1 BatB-related]. On my BM page, I added links to drawings I've done for BM.

I'm tired. -_-zzzZZZZZZ
Homework day tomorrow.

New Pokemon comic page

New page: http://mene.deviantart.com/art/Pokemon-New-Adventures-page-2-69407390

Look at the cute Togepi from the back (^-^) and the shoes in the first panel (>.>) and the "Pokeball-healing-machine" as seen in the game... (like here: http://www.psypokes.com/lab/pokerus/pokerus1.png) and the calligraphy scroll (I would imagine it's very irritating to have tv behind your back!)
The region this story takes place in is North-East of Johto. On the next page (or the page thereafter, depends) there will be a map. Blackthorn City will be in the very South-West of that map.
On a following page I will also explain why the girl is called "Togepii".

Existing Pokemon world maps:

Drawing

Reading in a rose drawing is finished. Yay for Bookmooch :D

Rose and book... reminds me of Beauty and the Beast~~~

I added a slightly larger introduction to the enka page on my Japan site as well.

For the rest I'm very busy studying since I have two tests and a paper deadline next week and the week after another test and deadline. That's why this is a short entry XD

Art challenge

New Moonplanet pictures added to my art challenge page: http://moonplanet.livejournal.com/34808.html

Also, in my Japanese weblog I got a comment from one of my teachers at Japanese high school on my post of the banana slug. He didn't know the banana slug, but he had found one of these in his garden when he was a child.

Japansite update

Interesting story about Dutch and Japanese and rhythm in music:
http://www.kennislink.nl/web/show?id=162066 (Dutch)

Also updated my Japan-site http://vet.bigbig.com/Selene/japan/ with a few more things again.
On Senior High page:
http://vet.bigbig.com/Selene/japan/school_senior.htm

On Elementary School visits page:
http://vet.bigbig.com/Selene/japan/school_basis_visits.htm
--Keiko werkte op Nohara Basisschool en had mij uitgenodigd om mee te komen. Eén van haar vriendinnen werkte op Makino basisschool en zij had mij toen ook uitgenodigd.

On Gerechten (food) page:
http://vet.bigbig.com/Selene/japan/eten_gerechten.htm
-list of foods I liked

I cut all the shawls from the fabric for the choir concert in December today. We are going to wear long black dresses with a shawl in a fabric that's both green and purple [depends on the way the light reflects on it].

This is just stupid

On my Japanese email address, I check my spam folder...

I get a mail from MYSELF with the title:
会えるかは本人次第!!!本当の無料サイトはココ!!!

Why in the world would I send myself that? I have much more interesting sites to visit (>_<).
I get so much spam on that email address (luckily yahoo puts it all in the spam folder automatically) but I haven't posted it online anywhere! Even my English yahoo address doesn't get so much spam and I use that one for the English yahoo groups I'm in...

Really.
Stupid.

Photo update [books + Medusa]

Medusa choir photos
I uploaded the photos of the last choir practice [June 28th] and the eating-dinner [July 5th] to the website: http://www.medusa.studver.uu.nl/
Click 'Fotogalerij' and then '-28 juni Laatste repetitie en 5 juli Gezamenlijk avondeten (2007)'. If you can't find it, here's the direct link to the page: http://www.medusa.studver.uu.nl/foto-2007eindeschooljaar/page_01.htm

Animorphs collection photos
The following photos are rather large (between 700 and 900 KB and 2560x1920 pixels) so be warned (but you can see details on the covers this way).
I put my entire collection on one shelf. Book 1 to 53 fit on the back row. 54 just didn't fit in there anymore so I put it next to the other books [like the Chronicles and Megamorphs etc].

All covers can be viewed in my Librarything account: http://www.librarything.nl/catalog.php?tag=Animorphs&view=mene

Book 1 to 54:
http://vet.bigbig.com/Selene/spiral/fotos/HPIM1932-10juli_boekenkast-anim.JPG
Book 1 to 14 (except 11) are in Dutch. They're large hardcovers. #14 is the last one translated to Dutch. I covered book 5 and 9 with normal paper for protection. Book 1 and 2 are covered with plastic (I got them 2nd hand). I have book 6 and 10 in French [found them on a flea market in France] and #6 in Danish [found it in a supermarket in Denmark]. The Danish editions look -exactly- the same as the American ones, just in another language. The French and Dutch covers are quite different (see list view in Librarything and look at the tags for the language), but only the Dutch ones are hardcover.
Closer view of the different languages:
http://vet.bigbig.com/Selene/spiral/fotos/HPIM1935-10juli_boekenkast-anim.JPG
Still planning to get #1~14 (except 11) in English and #11 in Dutch as well, but I'm not in a hurry for those since I do have the story complete (since May 29th 2007).

Added Megamorphs, Alternamorphs, Chronicles, Visser:

Recipe

English:

Recipe for left-overs. You need a few extra things. You can replace the vegetables by other vegetables, but these were what I had left over.

Needed:
-2 (Belgian) endives
-some broccoli from the previous evening
-(little) bag of lettuce
-5 eggs
-mayonnaise

Cooking:
-Cut the endive in slices (cut it in half and then both halfs in slices) .
-Throw the endive, broccoli and lettuce in a pan and let it warm up until it has shrunken (I let it shrink to half the height, but less = ok). Put pepper, salt, (olive) oil and lemon juice on it.
-Meanwhile put the 5 eggs in a bowl (only the insides) and mix them together so you get a yellowy mass.
-When the vegetables are about ready, put oil in a frying pan and put the amount of 4 eggs over it (wait a little bit till the oil has diffused etc)
-Wait till the egg has become a little less liquid and put as much vegetables on it as possible (one layer of vegetables)
-Put the last egg on that.
-When the bottom is brown and the egg is not liquid anymore on top, you can eat it. (tip: put the lid on it and make the fire less strong)
-Put the remaining vegetables in a bowl and add mayonnaise (depends on the amount of vegetables you have left, but I added 2 spoons of mayonnaise). Mix and you have a salad. If the salad has been in the refridgerator it tastes good as well.

Working on the Japanese translation currently. Will update both artsites later today. The day is too short (@_@) !

EDIT:
Finished the JP translation. Updated the English artsite ( http://vet.bigbig.com/Selene/artplanet/ ) but I'll update the JP one next weekend. If anyone's interested in the Japanese HOL comics, comment, but I think everyone will read the English version XD

Still haven't gotten a reply from the soft tennis club above Utrecht... (1 week ago I sent a mail) Maybe I emailed it to the wrong person. I'll search for another email address next week (which starts tomorrow XD)

HOL Animal Magic cards

Made 5 for the HOL Animal Magic class project with a few of my drawings:
Mouse - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54416258/ [drawing from the Forever Young comic]
Phoenix - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54416317/ [from the Hades & Aita drawing]
Rabbit - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54416681/ [from the Forever Young intro]
Raven - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54416836/ [from the Krone & Raven drawing]
Hummingbird - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54416093/ [from the drawings for Shanra]

I think I'll make a card with my yet-unscanned Fire Dragon image too.
Anyone has an animal suggestion they'd like to see a card of? Then I'll look if I have some symbolism info on it (there's also a list on the AM site > http://animalmagic.awardspace.com/guides.htm) .

I updated my page on the HOL wiki too XD
