I have purchased a Roomba whom I've named Poomba.
This is in part an effort to: 1. Keep a clean environment while maximizing entertainment while minimizing physical labor. 2. Have a pet robot. 3. Begin naming all things after famous pigs.
Oh also I'll be in Seattle (Kent) starting tomorrow to the 25th. I hope to immerse myself into the Pacific Northwest: being even more dreary than I am now, eat many bowls of pho, adapting to the color green, and having no form of car to drive.

I am not old. I thought I was old last month when campus became flooded with little wealthy children attending nike sports camps. Or when school begins and the freshman overrun the campus with optimism. Even the 1st year grad students are lit with hope in September. But I'm not old yet, but I do feel more experienced which I believe helps me become more relaxed, less anxious and more calm. I only hope this stays with me.
Interview process continues, I am moving from my apartment which is annoying and most of my life is in limbo. And limbo makes me uneasy. Choices, choices, choices... Plan to buy ticket home next month, then need to purchase ticket to tour southeast asia and ticket home for thanksgiving, and ticket to europe for the holidays. I plan to also be entirely broke for the next half year. But hopefully having too much fun to care. Also I plan to drive to mexico, I need to start making headway on a traveling the world map.

BUT I don't have homework due that week! (i mean theres the midterm the Weds back from break and a hell of reports due) But I get to spend the weekend showing the boyfriend off to family and friends at home. I can't wait.
oh, and who can start a manual car now? Me! I can also make horrible grinding noises too...

| Subject: | Touring Seattle |
| Time: | 11:13 pm. |
|
I'll be home for Thanksgiving and I want to show my friend the area. I want to make sure I a list of places to run through, especially if we get too tired to drive to Vancouver (Must avoid giving tour of Kent). Plus I want to show him something in Seattle that would beat hanging out in SF. I've got a list going so far but its starting to look too touristy: ( List of places and things )
But what exactly would show the slight cultural differences between Seattle and the Bay Area? What *are* the cultural difference?
To me, Seattle is like taking the best of Oakland and the best of SF, then mash them together, color it green with a gray tint and chill.
One thing I always miss in the trees. I miss green trees and giant mountains. I miss smelling fresh rain instead of warm morning asphalt. I miss sitting with a tray of Ivars and watching the boats float into Lake Union.
Pies and pints perhaps. I can't find the quirks here I had in undergrad. I know they must be in Palo Alto somewhere. Guess I have to just keep looking.

Turns out Kent has better weather than Stanford at the moment. I return to realize that my vacation is going to cost me so much time in the fab. Just got out. My head is slightly spinning. I somehow lost the new ipod Shuffle I bought last week. The new Dell laptop I've been using keeps crashing. Aaaand, I've only received 3 of 4 Dell laptop I've ordered for the lab, so I'm not sure what to think... erg.

Turns out a week home is extremely short. I've been sitting in Kent finishing up work, as I am fed free home cooked Chinese food. The best kind there is. Guess its better to hang around the very calm town of Kent. Sit, eat, watch movies with my parents.
Maybe I'll go read up on Density of States.

I thought I'd drop by UW to visit my professor and in his reply he cc'd the advisors. Its not like I said I would be leaving CA for UW. So weird.
Work work work, with all my classmates off in foreign countries I putter around the clean room inhaling dangerous chemicals.
I've been reading flatlands, and as thin as the book is I appear to be having difficulty reading it. I think mostly because there is no real plot to the story other than just description of triangles and circles "feeling" polygons.
Also have trouble getting through On the Road. Very masculine boyish book.
Last book I've been reading is Barak Obama's Dreams of my Father. This is the only book thats been pretty easy read so far. I always identify with books searching for cultural identity. (Namesake was pretty good)

| Time: | 2:16 pm. |
|
I will be driving home Sept 5th ish and then driving back Sept 14th ish. So I can meet people in the following locales, Oregon, Washington, Vancouver of Canada.
I am driving for the sole purpose that I will have a car to use in Washington. In addition this means I can move large objects such as bikes, guitar and misc hamsters down to California. I want to try to go to Vancouver during that weekend too just because while California has a giant Asian population, nothing beats Canada. And I'm soooo far aways these days.
I'd like to catch up with peoples.
Oh yea. Last night I slept on the Half Moon Bay beach after watching the meteor shower. Turns out my new cellphone takes decent pictures.

Death Valley is a candy store of postcard pictures.

So right now the plan is I will be returning back to Seattle area (hopefully driving) in mid September. This will probably be for at least a week. This means I won't make it in time to see my roomates :(. Not sure I'm looking forward to Seattle weather. Today I ran a 5k in 00:34:49. This is the farthest and fastest I've ever run. Yay!
More pictures of Death Valley:

Well what have I got? I've got boy problems. Who thought grad school would be so drama ridden. And in addition I'm full of skirts that I don't wear. Which will change but really, its hard to change old habits. Also I need a road bike.
Now to discuss what really does prevent me from wearing a skirt. .... I like my jeans and Ts? Thus the mission begins.
Oh yea.. being in the fab doesn't help this at all.

Stanford does a lottery system for housing. I got 4 bedroom in Rains. No more dorm life for me!!!! Now I just hope I get some good roomates.
In other news, I failed another midterm. If I ever take another class that starts out with Schroedinger's equations I am dropping it as fast as possible.
Oinks. I got 2 stuffed cubed piggies to hang in my car window.

My room is above the laundry room, meaning it vents right onto my desk area. I'm now light headed from all the fumes I breath. In addition I work in a fab now. I need to move so badly. I'm getting so many headaches from this. I tried to throw away the dryer sheets people used but they dug it out of the garbage. Next time I'm going to grind them up in the food disposal. I think I'm going to puke from this.

Church tomorrow morning. Still can't find my textbooks.
I think I'd like to try my hand at making a turducken. I wish my dad would stop mentioning where I'm going for school to everyone he meets.
