Gratitude
There is a huge pot cloud that is floating up from downstairs. We've have wars, the neighbor and I. It is my curry stirfry's with his smoking joints, my harp playing with his amped guitar.

I've been asked how I live here. The noise is often beyond description; the parties start at 11:00pm and go until I wake in the morning. But I cherish it. I am around so much death every single day that I love hearing and smelling the life and the youth that permeates this neighborhood. It is their potential and vitality that, honestly, lulls me to sleep at night - no matter how high the decibel.

I don't think I could do this job without them.

Heaven's Prototype
Today is the first day of National Write a Novel in a Month (http://www.nanowrimo.org/). Last year was so fun, I just have to do it again.

This year's pick is to create a novel in the theological fiction category (not that one exists, but I'm creating such a category). The story is both sci-fi and fantasy. I'm recreating, reforming, reimagining Jesus, not just the human fable, but also the theological dimension as well.

The working title of the story is, "Heaven's Prototype." And, well, you know about some prototypes, they aren't all they're cracked up to be.

Wayside Pulpit
Well, I've been adding to another blog-type space for the past couple of weeks. I think it is finally ready to be unveiled. The site, The Wayside Pulpit, is solely focused on spirituality, theology and whatever other weird religious stuff finds itself into the mix.

Right now you'll find a number of reflections that occur at the intersection of Buddhism and Christianity. I suspect that I'll head in this direction for quite a bit, but like everything else in life, it will change.

A Wish
I want an oversized electronic wall calendar that displays an entire month. It would be wireless so I could move stuff from the 'puters in the house to the calendar. The calendar would have voice/sound capabilities so it could record voice memos to be played on certain days. It would do dumb, but fun stuff, like rotate pics from iPhoto, and music from iTunes.
