Sorry I've been away for so long! Since I last updated I've been working a ton and I also went on this little 5-day cruise with my family that left from New York and went up to Canada and back. No flying = Great. Speaking of flying, I leave in 10 days for London. I'm so unprepared, it's not even funny. I am not having a laugh.

Right now, I'm at my internship, but my boss went to lunch and I finished the assignment she gave me, so I'm just chilling and watching What Not To Wear. It's my last day here! I'm really going to miss everyone who works here, the programming department meetings are always so funny. I've had a lot of fun though and I learned a lot about what goes on at a TV network. Meredith, the girl who hired me, actually told me today that next week is her last week at BBC America because she got a job at Bravo! I told her that I was actually planning on applying for an internship there when I come back in the spring and she said she would give me all of her contact info and everything, so yes! I also have met the SVP of Programming over there, just for a little informational meeting, last semester and I've emailed him a couple times, so hopefully these connections mean I can snag an internship there. Oh man, I really hope so. As much as I've loved BBCA, I really want to work somehwere that has original programming. And since Bravo falls under the Universal umbrella, maybe I would be able to use that as leverage to work at NBC next. I'm coming for your job, Kenneth!

Not really, because I don't want to be a page, but still! NBC! Please.

I have so many pictures that I have to post, but I won't attack you guys with all of them at once, so here's the ones from Brock's 20th birthday party.

The Prom You Wish You Had. )

I'm going out for coffee with Meredith and Michelle #1 for a last day treat*~ Aww. Bye bye, BBC America!

PS: In honor of the recent "Bigfoot" discovery, I needed to use an icon with Jason Segel. Also, in honor of the release of Pineapple Express, I needed to use an icon of Jason Segel being high.

you can always tell a milford man

Aww, seeing everyone on my flist freak out about something Harry Potter related makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

In other news, today I'm doing something I've always wanted to do and going to a live taping of a Food Network cooking show. It's for Guy Fieri's new live cooking show, so apparently he's going to have 3 on FN now. It's called Guy Off The Hook and all I care is that they are going to FEED US. Nom nom.

I have some seriously over-due zoo pictures. I went on July 7th. Oops! I worked from 11am-230am yesterday at Chateau, doubles are the bane of my existance. At least I made some tips and now I have enough to buy this dress I want from Urban Outfitters for Brock's party next Saturday. It's his 20th birthday party, and like any self-respecting gay man, he likes his parties to have a cohesive theme. Last year it was Heaven and Hell, the year before it was Black and White and now this year it's "The Prom You Wish You Had." So naturally, I plan on going completely solo, wearing a short dress and getting really drunk.

four sweatervests
So I finally saw The Dark Knight last night. It was the shit, as the kids say. I'm not really sure if there's anything that I can say that hasn't already been said by every movie reviewer/reporter/fangirl, but...I will say them anyway. Heath Ledger was awesome, seriously, just amazing, I hate Christian Bale's Batman voice, I love Gary Oldman and for real, guys, The Joker!!! Everything from his "magic trick" to the nurse's outfit, I just loved all of it.

And please tell me that I'm not the only loser who was tickled that Nestor Carbonell, aka Eyeliner Dude from Lost aka BATMANUEL FROM THE TICK was the mayor in a Batman movie. Yes.

I'm also aboard the Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog train and by that I mean I am completely obsessed and have listened to the music on my ipod far too many times and I want more and sequels and Broadway adaptations. I was just reading its Television Without Pity message board and it seemed like a lot of people didn't like the third part, but that one was my favorite. All the songs were great, I love "So They Say" and the finale just breaks my heart. I think everyone just expected some grand, happy ending but it's Joss Whedon! I haven't even seen all of his stuff and I knew that there was no way it was ending happily. It's in one of the songs! "There's no happy endings, so they say." Now I want to rewatch it but I'm at work. Damn.

And it made me even more excited for How I Met Your Mother to come back becuase NPH is the best part of that show (Jason Segel is a very, very close second). I miss my Fall TV shows so much. At least now I have Psych.

Speaking of HIMYM, I just got an email that my Slap-Bet Commissioner shirt has been shipped. WIN.

I ran out of bandwidth on my Photobucket account, so I had to make a new one so I could post these pictures, haha. Damn. Can I also just say how awesome Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog is? (www.drhorrible.com) Let's just take Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, evil people/superheroes and musicals and hey wait, that's almost everything I love. Need a soundtrack. Now.

I've been really busy (Oh god, excuse this interjection but I have my radio on and they just put on a Mariah Carey song from the 90s, thanks for the unwanted middle school flashback z100.) working and commuting and waitressing and trying to see my friends whenever I can. Last week we went to the zoo (I'll post those pictures probably later this week), I went thrifting with my sister, I've been bowling with a couple people from the badminton team that I haven't seen in ages, spent a day in Garden City with Annamaria and went to a screening of Tropic Thunder with her. It was really hilarious and RDJ was pretty epic in it, so go see it when it comes out in August! Yesterday, Annamaria and I met up with our friend Kian who just got back from Prague and went out to dinner in the city, wandered around SoHo, ended up at Magnolia Bakery at some point and made our way up to Union Square where we watched kids wipe out while trying to do tricks on their skateboards. Man, I love SoHo and Greenwich Village. Since I work in Midtown, usually that's all I see when I'm in the city, but being back in SoHo was so nice and I love all the little cobblestone streets and the cafes and the hipsters and MIDTOWN YOU SUCK.

I've been working way too much at Chateau, I'm afraid my waitress persona is going to start leaking into my real life. I'm always so smiley and cheery when I'm waitressing, like it's my biggest pleasure to run you your 4th Malibu Bay Breeze even though you're a woman and that probably means you won't be tipping me. And my voice always goes about an octave higher when I talk to my tables. You know, like how people get when they talk to dogs or infants. That's what I sound like when I'm asking whether they'd like the chicken or fish.

I might not survive this weekend and here's why. I'm working at 330 on Saturday, which means I'll probably get home around 1am. Which would be fine, except Annamaria and I got tickets for the 6am IMAX showing of Dark Knight for Sunday morning. And I'm working at 11am on Sunday. No sleep for me those days, I guess! The things I do for fandom. And money.
