    Almost time....
    Few more hours....

Found the slops I was missing, washed and in drier now.

Made some Boursin Cheese...oh my gods it is good. Leaving it for Kendrick for his plot meeting. Keeping that recipe - reminds me of Allouette cheese.

Made some pesto. Best to make it earlier in season - it is ok but not as good as the time I made it when Stitch came for dinner.

Drying some fennel now. Have to clean the house as well.
Next year I will have some herbs for Marinus - just didn't think of that til today, doh.

    Tired...
Made Mint Seb, Peppermint Seb, Lemon Balm Seb and Ginger Seb to bring to Pennsic. The Mint I boiled too long and well, I put it into candy molds to slip into drinks. Very good. Peppermint is a liquidy consistency but still pretty good. The Lemon Balm was rather tasteless...so won't be repated. The Ginger Deb was the best, in my opinion. So have 6 bottles of Seb to bring plus a bowl full of Mint hard candies. Will probably have a taste test at the Gedneys!

Would like to experiment after Pennsic on low sugar, sugar alternatives, stevia variations of Seb.

Plan on making some Boursin cheese tomorrow, probably for Kendrick and also the Plot meeting

Hope to dry some dill, maybe some sage

Kragore came by and dropped off her stuff..got puppy hugs, always a good thing. Very happy she can make it to Pennsic for a bit.

Stuff all packed and ready to roll
on Thursday. Tired..but going to Bardic tonight. Will pack up any odds and ends tomorrow but very few of those left.

Going to make some mint, ginger and lemon drinks tomorrow night, get a haircut. Everything is done alot sooner than usual this year..that is a good thing!

Should do some weeding as well before I go :)

Stitchinlin kindly did some last minute repairs for me on garb :) Gave kittie scritches. I am very excited this year, not sure why.

    Hot
Kendrick and I packed 35 boxes of books tonight. Had culled two boxes out. Expecting two boxes more in the mail/or ones that Kendrick is repairing.

Clothing all ironed, washed, sorted. Will finish my and Kendrick's packing tomorrow so the van will be completely loaded by tomorrow night most likely. Pavilion, bookcases etc will get packed tomorrow nite. kendrick was in a good mood - usually he is um pretty grouchy when it is packing time.

Bardic is Tuesday night, will rest and enjoy that.

If I have any sales will mail the books off Weds. or Thurs. Closed all my sites down except for the auctions on going on EBay.

Tucker is coming down Thursday, we are swinging by her house to pick up her gear then going by Debgedney's - at least as far as I know we are!!! Deb, does she know how to get to your house?
It will be fun caravanning out.

If everything is done on time, I am planning on making some Mint Sekanjabin, possibly some Ginger Sekanjabin and possibly some Lemon Sekanjabin. Never did it before but sounds easy, especially since it doesn't have to be refriged and lasts a long time and ice water can be added to it.

    Welp
Reboxed over 40 odd boxes of books. Got it down to 37 boxes, and there is probably a box more that will be going that I haven't recieved yet. Not terribly pleased, wanted to get down to 35 boxes. Debating on culling and taking some out tomorrow. Hot and kinda stinky right now.

Ironed the last of my garb for Pennsic, will start on Kendrick's tomorrow. The next day or so should have the last of my gear, Kendrick's gear and the shop all packed.

Closed down the website and various other venues and eBay til August 10th. Didn't want to do it but really didn't want to go through 37 odd boxes of books for that 10 dollar book someone just has to have. I have enough to go to Pennsic but just barely..hoping that my fixed price auctions on EBay (none of that is packed) gets even just one sale - will feel better cash wise. Don't worry..not broke, just been spending money on books and paid some bills before leaving so not as fat a pocketbook as I would like.

    Names discussion
My legal name is Drucilla Ann Agnes Meany-Herbert

Was named after my Dad's old girlfriend. He liked the name, Mom hated it. When I was 8 years old, talked me into going by my middle name. That lasted one year - hate the name Ann. Like my name alot..not alot of Drucilla's out there! Plus Drucilla was the female version of the Greeko/Roman/Hebrew family name Drusus. Which was the family name of Nero and all those nice baddies from that time :)

I am called Dru - not really fond of it but folks are used to it so I am ok..but always feel strange, like it doesn't really fit.

My sister calls me Dweezil - which I like :)

I am also called Gwyneth - larping, SCA name
and Meyta - sister of a friend of mine many years ago had that name and always liked it...larping name as well.

    Grump~!~
Even if I find the missing boxes, will still have packed 40 odd. Can't have that many. Not enough room for my stuff and Tucker's. However, I packed them differently this time since I started packing 3 weeks ago. They are packed spine up in case I sell any online (which I have) easier to find then. Think Sunday I will put everything on vacation except for EBay and repack the books my usual way which will take up far less room. And lower the amount of boxes I need. Ah well, my experiment this year obviously isn't feasible. I was trying to make it easier and pack throughout the weeks instead of rushing the last week. Looks like I will be rushing the last week for Pennsic anyways!

However, please keep all sharp implements away from me Sunday :PPPP Will also need lots of ice cream as a consolation with lots of chocolate on it...
    4:12 pm
    Grumble grumble
Have 30 odd boxes of books packed for Pennsic. I was wondering and very much worrying that I packed too much (well, I did and will). Counted the buckets then found lids to 9 plastic buckets. Have a feeling that Isles has em somewhere. Now to retrieve em from Isles stuff buried somewhere in the house or at the site. Hmm is there a Bardic next week?

    :)
    A learning day..good and bad.

Learned that the stock I have with Citigroup is plunging right through the floor. Learned that the stock was bought either by my mother or more probably my grandmother for probably pennies so even if I do cash it it, will have to take a hit on taxes and can't afford that. The financial advisor can't find a record of who paid what..that is how long the stock has been held. He is still looking. It was gifted to me...entirely possible that it was gifted to my mother many years ago. So sitting on the fence on this one.

Did a table stop scenario for the Red Cross. I was supervisor of Bulk Distribution for a 200 person shelter. I did ok, considering we never really went over the material in class in depth. I kept mixing it up with various Logistics protocols. Really need to study up on that. Thought of Stitchwhich the whole time and knew there was no way in hell that this would go smoothly in the real world.

Kendrick and I have been talking seriously about changing our heat source. Our house, this winter, would cost $6,000.00 to heat for the winter if oil remained at the same price...or if we were able to lock it in at the same price now. Aint gonna happen. Kendrick ( and me a bit) have been doing homework into various systems. Solar is nice however, we just can't afford it. @45,000. Geothermal is less expensive @15-25,000. There are rebates, tax incentives. Open Air, which is about the same price as Geothermal. Wood pellets, even though the price has gone up to 300 bucks a ton - it is still vastly more inexpensive than oil. It would take 3 tons of pellets to heat this house. Hybrid - a wood/oil stove or wood/gas stove would cost around 4,000-5,000 dollars. Have to admit..alot will depend on how I do at Pennsic as to what we will do. I am glad he is looking into non-fossil fuel ssytems. When we first startied talking about this, he wanted to change to gas, or upgrade the system we have. If we are going to spend the big bucks, would rather we got rid of the fossil fuel systems. He has been pretty impressed with the technology of some of the projects, businesses out there.

    Nice weekend
We went to a Celtic Festival. Was uncertain that any of our friends would show up. Happily we saw Keyla, Dragonsbladed, Jim, Stitchinlin, Hodgie, Wild Irish Rose, and Noah plus some of Kendrick's coworkers. It was held on a lake and the waether was balmy. The music was absolutely wonderful. Ww were tuckered out so left at 5 pm and almost crashed, watching tv and playing on the computer.

Got up early this morning and ventured to Boston with Stitchinlin, Hodgie, Wild and Noah and Kendrick of course! We went to have Dim Sum...oh yummies it was good... It was his first time and he liked it! I was uncertain how it would fly with him since he isn't all the adventureous as far as food is concerned. Each time I go, I try a new dish.

He finished 3 of the 4 lanterns for me for Pennsic after we got back - very pretty with Marinus colors. Plus he painted the floor of the van. I weeded the gardens in back. Took the coriander/cilantro and stripped the stems. It had bolted (started going to flower) so the taste won't be as strong but tell you the truth - not a big cilantro fan. I do plan on making/putting up some salsa tho, so need the cilantro for that. Saved the heads - going to see if I can use em. Will let the rest of the corainder go to seed so I can have coriander seeds.

Made a delicious onion/bacon pie - found the recipe on the Mermayde list. That and some curly lettuce from the garden made a very light and toothsome dinner. Our raspberries and blackberries are ripe now so we will have that with whipped cream and blueberries. Next plant (of many!) to grow on my list are some blueberries bushes.

    Frustration....
Yeah..about us being a nation of whiners....

Note. I have some investments. The ones that are guaranteed and protected that are long term are holding their own. They are "Green" investments that I did before our economy went to hell in a handbasket, around 5 - 6 years ago. Not gaining anything but not losing any money either.

However, the 10,000 I had in another investment tanked badly this year. The value of that 10,000 investment over the year is now 3400. Will probably cash that out Monday. Waiting for the market to correct itself isn't happening. It has been painful seeing me lose a grand or more each quarter. And the investment was in a bank.

We still haven't given up on installing solar - however it looks like it would cost 45,000. We could get a rebate of 20,000 possibly through various state programs - looking into that. Sigh, however it would still take 15 years for us to make our investment back...however the way that the oil prices are going -

Have to admit, will depend somewhat how I do at Pennsic this year. At least our house is paid for. Kendrick is worried that I won't make enough to pay my portion of the health insurance. I think I probably will but not sure how much I will have left over to throw at the solar plan. Our credit cards are almost all paid off so we are fairly ahead of things. Thge line of credit tho is an owie because we had to buy two cars last year on it. Both of us want very badly to loook into alternative energy sources but just not sure how viable it is at this time.

Looking also into Geothermal. Wind power is not an option.

Meme again! It was the ehat I tell ya!
Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions. They have to be real places, names and/or objects, but nothing made up! Try to use different answers if the person you got this from has the same first initial. You can't use your name for the boy/girl name question. Have fun with it!

    Love googling for recipes
Have 1/3 of a container of sour milk. I am extremely frugal - dislike throwing anything away almost. Found some cookie recipes and muffin recipes that I will try out.

If it was raw milk, would do cottage cheese...but unfortunately pasteurized, homogenized milk doesn't work. Have tried...many times :P

    Nummies
I made pesto for a dinner for Stitchinlin and I. The pesto was great!!! I will always use African or dark Basil from now on. Well, I have 4 other sweet basil plants hopefully that will be putting forth more leaves soon. Had the right amount of creaminess and had an interesting lightly spicey thing going on. Have enough pesto left over for two more meals :) Should have chosen a lighter bread than caraway to serve with it.
