Playing in the rain

Posted on 2007.04.14 at 23:38
You know, playing in the rain at midnight has to be one of the coolest things I've done...I changed into some old clothes, ran out onto the deck and proceeded to dance around in the rain...it was actually a lot of fun--until my sister decided it would be MORE fun for her to lock the doors, and then take pictures of me through the windows. haha. All the same, I love the rain--thunder and lightning is okay too, so long as I'm safely tucked away in a house and not near any large metal towers. ;)

I had to edit this---the joke was on my sister in the end...see, Grace finally let me in after I had pounded on the door for a couple minutes, and then we went laughing into my room where we sat on my beanbag. Well, about 10 minutes later we heard a LOUD banging on the door. Grace JUMPED up, and I busted out laughing...we both immediately knew that my mom had gotten home (she was out with friends), and Grace had forgotten to unlock the other door. I'm STILL laughing...;)

Why do people say this?

Okay, so I've never understood the phrase "drive safely." I mean, come on. What's the point of telling someone to drive safely? When my mom told me to drive carefully when I called her to let her know I was on my way home I wanted to say "no...I'm going to drive recklessly like I always do." What do people expect? I guess you could call this my Seinfeld moment. haha. I've been watching reruns recently and that's all Jerry talks about on that show. He always brings up all sorts of crazy theories and sayings and delves into thier actual meanings. Anyway, my thoughts are random and crazy so I apologize. I'm going to get off now. Remember, Drive Safely!

Wow. I haven't written anything in here in ages. Hmmm. I guess I have a bit to recap from the past few weeks....Let's see, I went on a college tour and found my future college *hopefully*. I met an old friend, dated him for a month, and then we kind of drifted apart...you could say...now I'm applying to colleges and it sucks. I just had an awesome weekend at the fair the weekend before last. My grandparents that I haven't seen in over 4 years are currently at my house visiting for a week. Tomorrow is the end of said week. Well, that's a good start I suppose--now I'll expand!

I went on a college tour of Meredith, the all women's college here in NC, and I have decided that that is where I want to go. It is my first choice now, and I'm crossing my fingers. I'm also applying to UNCW, Gilford, Elon, and Western. I could see going to those schools as well, but Meredith is far and away my first choice. :) I already met several of the professors, and the Dean of admissions now knows me by name and face because the professor I talked to went and talked about me to the Dean. :) The afore-mentioned professor has even emailed me several times with upcoming events occuring at Meredith. It's fun.

The *boy*. Well, that was an experience. See, there was this guy that I knew form basketball. I always kind of had a thing for him, but he's always had a girl friend. He ended up breaking up w/ his girl friend when he found out that I would go out with him. So, we went out for a couple of weeks, but came to find that we have very different religious beliefs. For me, it really doesn't matter all that much. I didn't mind him believing something different, but it did bother me when he wanted to "show me the way." That's when I decided we were too different. This relationship lasted a grand total of four weeks...oh well--longer than my last one! lol.

ooohhh, the fair! Something FUN to talk about!! So, I went to the fair on both the saturday AND sunday of the opening weekend. Yes, I'm insane. Both days traffic was crazy, but traffic couldn't ruin either day. I went with my family on Saturday. That was fun. We didn't see many exhibits, but we rode some rides and played games and had lots of fun. Then Sunday I drove to the fair with Aimee and we met a whole group of people there. We ended up kind of ditching the group though and going off to do our own thing. (It was more fun that way). I LOVED all of the exhibits! Let's see, there were the gorgeous cakes, the scrapbooking displays, EVERYTHING in yesteryear, and this pumpkin carving display...then there were the cute little piggys and baby donkeys, and oh, I could go on for forever! I'll spare you. ;) Let's just say that was the best weekend I've had in forever...

My Grandparents came into town last Wednesday. I haven't seen them in years, and, sadly, it's unlikely that I will see them again. They are getting older and Mom isn't convinced that we will be able to see them again. It was good to see them and reconnect--in some ways--again. I don't know, my relationship with them is very odd...I never talk to them, aside from one or two phone calls a year. Does that count? I wish things were different, but there's really nothing I can change now...I'm just trying to enjoy their company while they're here.

Oh,I took some senior pictures yesterday. Yeah, ME! I'm a senior--ahhh, that's so scary. :) I'm hoping to take some at Duke Gardens this weekend.

While I'm being random--I got a 99% on my french midterm. Yes, I'm very proud of myself. Technically, i got a 99.25% because I only losst 3/4's of a point. Why couldn't my teacher round in to the nearest 100? ;) oh well. I'm happy with a 99/100. :) Well, I'm going off to bed so maybe I'll write something again before a ccouple months go by. Then again, no one really reads this so it doesn't matter...it's nice to journal things every once and a while tho!

I'm home!

Posted on 2006.08.12 at 13:07
hey everyone! I'm baaaaaccck! :) haha, I've been home for almost a week now. Lets see, I got in Monday night at 7:15, but I had to wait around at the airport because my suitcase didn't make it. Around 9:30pm, I found out that my suitcase was still in Philidelphia (where my flight from Paris got in). bleh, what a pain. It got delivered to me the next day though. :)

Tuesday was pretty uneventful. I went to Eno for a bit, and then I went over to Becca's house. It was good to see her after so long! Her being my 2nd little sister and all. ;) haha. Then Wednesday morning I went to vball practice. Lu wasn't there, but Aimee was and I had lots of fun.

Then Thursday school started. I actually am enjoying school so far! Surprisingly enough! haha. I like both of my teachers, and my counselor is nice too. Then Friday, yesterday, I had school until 4. I came home for a little bit and then went to vball. yay. It went from 7-9pm, and it was sooooo much fun. All my friends were there--Lu, Aimee and John and Jeph. haha. It was some crazy vball, that's for sure. Aimee was having fun telling me to pay attention the WHOLE time, and then Lu was busy critiquing me from the other side of the net (since she wasn't even on my team). Then, of course, Jeph and John were constantly saying "what was that marebear?" haha...I'm getting used to it...they're about to leave for firefighter training. Everyone's sad...they're going to live about 2 hours away for the next 3 months, and they leave Monday. So, I'm glad I got to go last night to see them before they left.

annyway, today I'm going to the mango men thing at eno...should be fun...later!

I got my schedule!

Posted on 2006.07.12 at 06:51
I had a meeting with my new guidance counselor the other day, and I'm really excited because I've got my schedule for the first semester now. =) I have English 4 (that may change) and math from 12:30-4pm every day, and then General Psycology monday and wednesda mornings from 9:15-10:30. Last I have Western Civilization on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:15-10:30. Those last 2 classes are college courses. =)

I'm happy because this means I'll be done at 4 every day, and on Fridays I don't have anything till 12:30. Fun stuff. Alright, I'm off to work!

Posted on 2006.07.04 at 00:32

did you know thst when you see someone that you enjoy being around, or like, like a good friend, or family or someone of that sort, you raise your eyebrows? Anthropology is so fascinating! =)

A 2000 and France! =)

Posted on 2006.04.18 at 09:41
Assuiming I do well on the SAT, my family is going to be taking a trip to France. =) We've already started looking at houses there. Here are three of my favorite options. (my favorite is the 3rd becaue I think that it is GORGEOUS!)

http://www.gite.com/galileo

http://www.gite.com/l-auditoire

http://www.gite.com/les-horts

We'll be staying in one area of France for a week, and then, most likely, moving to a different area for another week. Then, either on our way into france, or on our way out, we're going to visit Paris. I've been before, and so have both of my parents, but Grace hasn't. I'm still trying to convince my parents of the Paris idea because Dad would much rather stay out of the city. One because it's crowded, but two because they don't speak solely french in the city. Most EVERYONE who lives in Paris speaks a decent amount of english. We are staying in areas where the people really speak French, and very little (or none at all sometimes) english. I think that'll make it more fun, though. I still want to go to Paris, even if it's only for 1 or 2 days. The Eiffel Tower is a must, as in the Louvre.

Anyway, I'm hoping I did well on the SAT because then we'll be able to stay much longer. The prime time for traveling is at the end of august/beginning of September, but my community college courses/ap courses start in august or early september. Sooo, if I did well, mom's going to give me a pass on the fall semester (for community college courses at least), and instead we'd go to france for 3 weeks or so. Alright, well I need to go now--I have my french lesson. =)

I have my first vball game today! hurray! I'm sooooooo excited! =) I wasn't goign to be able to go, but I decided to skip both of my basketball practices this week. I'm one of the better players on my vball team, so I figured I should try and show up. haha, our team name is G.R.I.T.S. "girls raised in the south"...overused, but cute, no? ;)

welll...I'm off!

stylist went a little crazy...

Posted on 2006.03.18 at 00:32
hahahaha, so my hair has BLOND streaks...and I'm not kidding--they are like streaks. lol. I don't think my stylist heard me when I said "subtle," buuut, oh well. It's different, that's for sure! I absolutely love the cut I got, but the streaks are just a bit too crazy for my liking. When it's down, it's not too shocking, but when I put my hair in a ponytail, you can really see the highlights.

It's a bit fun though...to have something so crazy, and it doesn't look BAD--just different. ;) Yeah, so since I've spent 2 paragraphs talking a/b my hair I'll switch to something else...

I'm not playing vball and basketball. Yeah, two sports. You see, I chose to do volleyball and not basketball, but then mom really wanted me to play bball and when i went to practice, it WAS fun. The team is VERY different this year, and I'll probably get a lot more play time since we only have like, 8 players total. lol. I dunno what I'm going to do though...I have vball games every tuesday and thursday night in April, and I have basketball practices every one of those nights too. I'm going to have to miss some vball games, but since we only have 10, I feel bad about missing any of them. I'm having a lot of fun playing vball. I mean, I knew it'd be fun just because I'm playing with three of my good friends (which always makes things more fun, right?) but I'm actually having fun PLAYING too. This is my first time playing volleyball and I'm already one of the better players. I guess i just pick up on things really quickly (well, pick up on sports really quickly).

I have my basketball team banquet this next Friday, and then Saturday I get to go to a swing dance! =) Yaaay, I'm so excited. I won't know a ton of the people going to the swing dance, but I'm meeting Danielle and Aimee there, so I'll at least have them. I cannot wait for it because I want to DANCE!!! I absolutely LOVE swing dancing. =)

wel, I'm off to bed--NIGHT!

All you basketball fans...

there's basically no change from last night because I'm STILL on cloud nine. One of the board members for the Storm organization wrote this up and sent it out to everyone (there will also, most likely, be an article in the roxboro paper about it):

WOESSNER CAN HANDLE THE PRESSURE

For those who could not come to watch the JV girls game, you
missed an exciting game.

Recap :

Lady Storm, trailed by 3 with 4 seconds to go. Mary gets the ball
and takes a 3 as time expires, and misses. But wait, the ref has
signaled
a foul by Zion CC. Mary gets 3 foul shots. She must make all 3 to
send
the game into overtime.

So, here we go, trailing 31 to 28. Mary is all alone at the free
throw
line with
3 attempts to at least tie the game. The other crowd is making noise,
trying
to distract her concentration.

1st shot - SWISH.
2nd shot - SWISH.
3rd shot - not a swish, but still a very good shot, GOOD.

Game now tied. Overtime. The Lady Storm goes on to win 36 - 34.

Mary had 3 three's on the day and was 10-15 at the free throw line.

Leah also hit a pressure free throw in overtime, making sure ZCC would
have to hit a 3 to win.

It was a good close game all the way through.

Storm led by 2 after the 1st.
ZCC lead by 1 at the half.
ZCC lead by 1 after the 3rd.
Game tied at the end of the 4th.
Storm wins by 2 in overtime.

Summary :

Mary - 25
Lauren L. - 6
Rachelle - 2
Natalie - 2
Leah - 1

HOW AMAZING IS THAT??? SO YES, GOOD FEELING IS STILL HERE, FOR THOSE WHO WERE WONDERING. ;)

Three freethrows

ohmygosh, tonight was incredible...I had the worst game of my life (shooting wise) and yet I had (I think...the stats haven't come back yet) my career high, and I sent the game into overtime. Ok, so, if you guys don't feel like reading about a bunch of basketball stuff, s top here because I just want to put in writing what happened in the game so that I won't ever forget (ha, like that'll happen!).

To set the scene: my shooting was off all night. We had the lead for most of the 1st quarter, but then trailed by 2 or 4 pts for the rest of the game. Our only 2 post players (tall people) had 4 fouls each with 3 mins left in the game, and by the 2 minute marker, one had fouled out. With 30 seconds left we were down by 3 pts. We needed a 3 so we set up a play and I got off my shot--and it went in, but it was whistled away by the ref because apparently one of the girls on my team had set an illegal screen. With 20 seconds left we got a steal and I pulled up for a 3 pointer, and sunk the shot! The other team called a timeout and our whole team was going crazy!!!! There was still about 15 seconds left though, so we just had to play tight defense and the game would have to go into overtime...no such luck. The other team passed it to their tall player who shot a layup, made it, and got fouled. We told the refs that we wanted a timeout whether she made the freethrow or missed it. She made it, so we were, once again, down by 3 pts only this time there were only 4 seconds left and we had to bring the ball up the WHOLE court. The whole team looked to me because everyone knew that I could shoot 3's, but I was really nervous because I had only made like 1 the whole game, and besides, there were only 4 seconds left!!! Anyway, we set up a play where a girl would set a screen for me and I'd run it up court and shoot a 3. We ran the play, but I missed the shot...the ref called the girl for a foul though!!! Time had run out so I was called back out on the court to shoot 3 freethrows. If I made them all, we'd go into overtime, if I missed just one, the game was over and we'd lose because there was no time left! talk about pressure, hunh??? I swear before every freethrow I was like "ohmygosh I'm gonna miss it and we'll lose and it'll be all my fault," BUT I made them!!!!! After the 3rd one my whole team came running out on the court screaming and hugging eachother and gonig INSANE! It was like we had won the game...it seriously looked like one of those games that you see on TV where everyone rushes out onto the court screaming. It felt amazing, but now we had to play in OT without either of our tall players (the other girl had fouled out) and I had 4 fouls myself. someehow we pulled through and won by 2pts in OT!!!!

That game was by far the most amazing game I've ever played in. That situation at the end of regulation is one that you like, always kind of want because you can make the difference, but then again, hitting 3 freethrows for the tie is sooooooooo much pressure. I thought I was going to pass out because if I had missed just one I would have been so upset with myself because I would always know that if I had made it, we could've won. Just as the consequences of failing are huge, the rewards for conquering are 100000000000 times better!!!! I will never forget that moment after I made the last one. It felt incredible. Period. So, I've been on cloud nine all night now. Oh, and Duke won--does life get better? and I answer myself- NO! haha, well I'm exhausted!!! Later!

Posted on 2006.02.01 at 12:30
sooo at last night's game I tied my career high score! 22 pts! Not bad...My team won 40-23. We are still undefeated against JV teams! =) 8-1 overall because we lost to a varsity team. so yeah, just wanted to say that because it's exciting!!!

bizzy...

Posted on 2006.01.27 at 09:34
just felt like being different with the title. ;) oh my gosh...it's been a while since I've posted I guess...my basketball season is finally reeeeaally starting. It's been going on for a couple months, but this month was when we actually had a lot of games (10 I think). so, it's been a bit hectic! I had a game last night, and we won! yaaay. My team is 6-1 right now, and we had our only loss against a varsity team, so that doesn't really count since we are a JV team anyway! I scored 13 pts I think...and the final score was 22-19 (we had the 22 obviously).

I have another game tonight too, but we'll win this one for sure because we've played the team before and all. Next week is going to be just insane...we have a game tuesday, friday, then monday, tuesday and friday of the next week too! how awesome is that??? I'm excited. 5 games in like, 12 days or so. fuuun stuff!

yeah, so that's basically it...I'm going to get back to work now...more later!

"If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it." Andy Rooney

"No L"

Posted on 2005.12.04 at 00:29
haha, I'm so excited about this Christmas. Why, you ask? Because I'm staying HOME!!!! I've lived her in NC for 8 years and have never once had a Christmas here. It's really the little things that you miss out on. For instance--all the Christmas decorations. What's the point of decorating if you go out of town for 2 weeks anyway? My Mom put up her little candle choo-choo train that is actually a train of letters spelling out the word "NOEL." My dad looked over at it and said "hey Mary, what's wrong with that word?" I glanced over and started laughing. "There's no L!" I said. Mom had lost the "L" so the word was just "NOE." It took Mom a few seconds to realize the connection between No L, and NOEL. ;) Just thought I'd share that with you all...

*sigh* With Christmas comes stress--this much I have figurred out. Stress with making presents (good grief my hands hurt so much), stress with school and the unexpected combined (and slightly related) stress of basketball and not seeing my friends. Well, that's not true. I do see some of my friends, because I see my basketball friends 3 to 4 times a week. Heck, Friday night i went to the gym at 4:30 and didn't leave till 10:30, but I hardly ever see my other friends right now...it's like AAU all over again. =/ And as if playing basketball isn't time consuming enough, I'm also coaching too...oh, and I'm not just assistant coaching, because being an assistant implies that the HEAD coach does something (which he doesn't). So now I have the added pressure of making sure that all the girls get to play in every game, and I'm in charge of all the subbing, and he just basically watches the game from the bench. *rolls eyes* It's absolutely ridiculous!

BUT, I'm still happy right now because lots of fun stuff is coming up! Monday I have basketball practice, and tuesday I coach the MS bball team and then stay for 3 other games afterwards, and then friday I finally have my first bball game! Oh, then Sunday is Grace's birthday! Anyway, I have to work a 5 hour shift tomorrow so I will be going now! =)
