Omg I want to cry. WHY AM I NOT AN EDITOR/BOOK REVIEWER RECEIVING THE ADVANCE COPY. WEEPS TRAGICALLY. Urghhh and by the time the actual sales copy comes out we'll all be mugging frantically for A's. Brilliant, really.

And is it me, or does Neil have a thing for little boys growing up in graveyards/ making friends with other little boys who are dead? This short story from Fragile Things floats to mind, and so does the Sandman issue (Season of Mists, I think) where the dead come alive and there's a little boy stuck in his boarding school for the hols and suddenly all the dead schoolboys are back and he gets killed by a bunch of ghost bullies and gets nursed by this adorable dead boy named Paine who he eventually runs off with. Love that little episode.

(Update: Found out that Paine and Rowland were featured as the Dead Boy Detectives in several other graphic novels. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Boy_Detectives <3)

Pss. Is anyone else as borderline-hyperventilation-thrilled as I am that so many of his novels are suddenly popping up as movies? :DDD Neverwhere has finally been optioned as a new film (a proper one, not the substandard TV adaptation), and by Weinstein no less, the company that did Project Runway, Hannibal Rising, and Rambo; Sandman's Death (love her) is being featured in Death and Me, directed by Guillermo del Toro, I think. Extra love, whoopee!; and Coraline is coming out next February. I wonder if anyone's doing American Gods. Grins at twinny. 

Writers was fun today! Haha I don't think I've ever enjoyed CCA sessions as much as I enjoy writers 8D I think it's all the people I know there, actually. We were doing photo-inspired writing, and I thought our group's poem was quite good, if I must say so myself (zomg *ego bursts*). The 5 of us make a good team, we should work together more. Heh.

After not posting for so damned long, it figures I'd post about the latest thing to preoccupy me. (:

It really amazes me how William Beckett can come up with such eloquent, perceptive lyrics considering the way he mumbles his way around during red carpet interviews. I mean, of course it's adorable in such a typically Bilvy way, but it completely belies the magnetism of the words that come out of his mouth. Which probably has something to do with the accent, heh.


Watch for how William pwns the chorus <333 And Gabe. The eyebrows. Hahahahaha gotta love it.

Twinn gave me Minekura-san's Saltydog II artbook for my b'day! It's just chock-full of ZOMG, srsly. It's mostly Saiyuki Reload since W.A hadn't come out yet at the time, but there's qte a few characters from uncompiled manga that gets released in magazines monthly, that sort of thing. So knowing me and my itchy fingers, I went home and sketched out one of her uncompiled manga boys (:

EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THE GOLDEN COMPASS : DDDDD

They changed a few salient points, and Kirara kept complaining that the director made it more of a sequence of events than a story, but the important thing is: BILLY COSTA IS SUCH HOTSTUFFFFFFFFFFF <33333333333 HOMG FANGIRL FANGIRL CUDDLE SCREAM JUMP SQUISH. Okay nvm /: But srsly he's such hotstuff I think the people behind and in front of us thought we were mad cause Kira and I kept squealing when he appeared. Omg I hope he's in the next movie in the trilogy as well. If they kill him off I will CRY ): 

But srsly, it's a good movie. It doesn't stick exactly to the book, but then again which movie does? Even Stardust had a significantly different ending, and in my opinion the new ending was better (: The Golden Compass changes a lot more than Stardust did, but I love the cast 8D NICOLE KIDMAN AS MRS COULTER FTW <3. And Pantalaimon is exactly as I'd imagined him to be. EXACTLY : DV I love the aura the visual effects in the film had, it made everything more surreal and helped retain some of the same charm the novel possessed. I'm in love with the visual effects director : D

And once again, BILLY COSTA IS HOTSTUFF 8DV

ZOMG I HAVEN'T DRAWN FANART FOR SO LONG. Stress makes you draw. In the past few days, I've finished two originals, a fanart copy of Ritsuka, fanarted Jui (Vidoll) during Civics, and drawn Masuda (NewS) at Von's request during Math. Oh, and HELLO ALLY (: Gaah, I can't decide if I should post the Jui and Masuda ones to their respective fandoms. REAL reasons Americans are opposed to gay marriage...

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
