I'm getting my ears pierced tonight! woo! Mon, May. 12th, 2008, 08:20 pm
I went to the dentist tonight.
I haven't been for nearly 23 years.
I need a good clean and 4 fillings, all booked in.
I'm very happy it wasn't anything major, no root canals, all my wisdom teeth are through and fine, he took xrays.
I was so scared. Mon, Apr. 14th, 2008, 09:59 am Job at ABC - Sydney
From a friend:- Hello, There's a very good job coming up in Sydney for a coder. It's with the ABC, and has the potential to make a very large impact on a number of high-profile websites. At the end of last year the ABC contracted Kick Apps to provide UGC & social networking functionality for the ABC. This job is to be the technical specialist (in the ABC's language) who'll work with the system and the ABC's existing sites. http://www.abc.net.au/jobs/newmedia/s2214269.htmHow well the ABC engages with communities of interest and locality will be extremely important to the ABC's future. There's a growing appreciation at the ABC of the role that programmers can have in an organisation that's figuring out how to adapt to a digital media environment. Please pass this on to anyone who you think would be good. Cheers, Fergus Fri, Apr. 4th, 2008, 03:31 pm coincidences
okay two weird coincidences both in context to scrabble last night
1. Last night, Bron starts singing "respectable" by Mel and Kim. I have had this song randomly pop into my head about 5 times the last few weeks. (maybe this song is on an ad at the moment?)
2. The nerd boys who sit near me at work just started talking about the scene in Donnie Darko where they talk about whether smurfette ever has sex or not. Someone brought that up at scrabble last night.
*twillight zone music* Tue, Jan. 8th, 2008, 02:20 pm Tech question about website security and credit cards
Well here i am at my new job, i'm currently doing some self training with their training resources and a few questions have come up. 1. I know there are international requirments for capture and storage of credit card details on websites as outlined here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_DSSWhat I would like to get is a link to a document that outlines the legal requirements of any australian company to follow these requirements. 2. Obviously all sites that capture information regarding a person i.e. there personal details and credit cards need to have an SSL Certificate. But is this enough? Is there another level of security that should be used on a site when capturing detais, credit card details in particular? Or is an SSL certificate enough? If anybody can help that would be great. Fri, Dec. 14th, 2007, 04:36 pm 3 week break
Well this is my last day at Stargate and i'm not going to be on livejournal or facebook much in the next 3 weeks as i have no internet at home.
I'm trying very hard to not get too emotional. I've hugged all the developers and made a really bad speech. I got a new phone! (a badly needed new phone) and a cake!! A CAKE!! a cake with sparkly candles!!! THANKS STEVE!!!!xx
I'm now heading back to the pub.
I hope everybody has a lovely christmas and new year.
xxx Thu, Dec. 13th, 2007, 12:04 pm
well i don't have a lot to complain about right now. Except that my landlord hasn't repaired the sensor light outside and i got home really late in the dark after teaching last night and he'd removed a step from the stair case that leads up to my door. I did notice it, just in time. Wed, Dec. 12th, 2007, 01:53 pm last days....
Well i'm having a busy day at work.
I'm currently compiling lists of songs for some tags for my last fm profile.
"songs with murder in the title" and "superman songs" are the first two.
There will be more tomorrow.
EDIT: And Simple Minds are the winners with a song in each category!! Murder Story and Superman V Supersoul Thu, Dec. 6th, 2007, 02:58 pm tis the season to be jolly fa la la la la, la la la la
I've got mum n dad coming down to stay with me for a few days so that we can all go to my sister's boyfriend's family thing, up to this year we've done pressies for his family. Just small gifts, nothing fancy.
This year we find out two days before that we're donating money to an orphanage in India. Mum and I have already bought pressies.
I said to my sister "would've been nice to find out earlier" apparently she thought that was me cracking the shits, so she cracked the shits with her boyfriend who rang me and cracked the shits with me for cracking the shits with her! but i didn't!!!!
I did however get cranky with one of my other sisters for doing the Kris Kringle wrong for our family christmas do. :-| Cranky with a capital C. She then got cranky with me for getting cranky with her and now the first sister, the one who thought I got cranky with her today, did the Kris Kringle.
Then there's the other other sister, I had to tell her today that we're going to the other sister's place for our Christmas and she's not invited. Wed, Nov. 28th, 2007, 10:55 am Affirmations to to free you of all rigid beliefs that might cause stupidity
I kick my own ass and wash my own brain. I push my own buttons and trick my own pain. I burn my own flags and roast my own heroes. I mock my own fears and cheer my own zeroes. Nothing can stop me from teasing my shadow. I'm full of empty and backwards bravado. My wounds are tattoos that reveal my true beauty. I turn tragic to magic and make bliss my duty. I honor my faults till they become virtues. I play jokes on my nightmares till I'm sure they won't hurt you. I sing anarchist lullabies to lesbian trees and love songs with punch lines to anonymous seas. I won't accept gifts that infringe on my freedom I shun sacred places that stir up my boredom. I change my name daily, pretend to be nobody. I fight for the truth if it's majestically rowdy. I brag about what I can't do and don't know. I take off my clothes to those I oppose. I'm so far beyond lazy, I work like a god. I'm totally crazy; in fact that's my job. Wishing you a fantastic day, hope all your birthday wishes come true. :-) Mon, Nov. 26th, 2007, 01:16 pm Election Stuff
Well that was an interesting election. Don't know if it was the full moon or not but I was experiencing some intense emotions as I was walking to the Northcote Town Hall, so strong i was crying, and then again while standing in the queue and again while filling in my bits of paper. I have to say I've never been so worked up by an election before in my life. I should point out these were tears of joy. I knew in my gut that Howard would be voted out. It was heartening to overhear so much talk about voting below the line, both from colleagues at work and random strangers in the street and on public transport. The general feeling of apathy that i've felt before at other elections was missing. This was also another reason for my highly emotional State. PEOPLE CARE AGAIN! YAY! I got to meet the Greens candidate for Batman, Patricia Carey, I didn't have anything to say other than choking out a "good luck, nice to meet you" and shaking her hand (whilst dabbing my eyes, how embarrassing) She did very well with 16.9% of the primary vote which was a 3.4% swing. http://www.abc.net.au/elections/federal/2007/guide/batm.htmCongratulations to the voters in Melbourne Electorate. You guys are truly awesome. Green got as many votes as the Liberal party although the liberals were ahead after the preferences were counted. http://www.abc.net.au/elections/federal/2007/guide/melb.htmAnd the other highlight for me was Maxine McKew's victory in the Ex Prime Minister's seat of Bennelong. Fantastic result. It’s just been announced in the papers! Just one complaint, I can't find figures on informal voting :-| I LOVE YOU AUSTRALIA! (oh god getting teary again) Wed, Nov. 14th, 2007, 04:30 pm
I RESIGNED TODAY!

I went to a mate's gig at the Retreat last night and got given three business cards. And not one of these was from a prospective root.. sorry.. romantic interest.
:-|
I came home relatively sober and I don't have a hangover this morning, actually i'm full of energy and bouncing around.
:-|
I did, however, have an excellent evening.
:-)
(Who gives out business cards at a gig ffs?) Mon, Oct. 8th, 2007, 03:36 pm Are you left or right brain dominant.

Well, here I am in downtown Yackandandah
It's gorgeous up here, and unlike Melbourne, the seasons are actually behaving themselves. It's still early spring as far as the flowers are concerned. Everything is just budding now and the hills are still very green and lush, we're getting temperatures down to 2 degrees at night but sunny days, around 22 degrees.
Mum is okay, her arm seems to be getting a little better and she's getting around okay. I think she's very greatful for the company, Dad is getting grumpier and vaguer as he gets older. He also seems to be very pissed off at Mum for breaking her arm and is being a bit passive aggressive about the whole thing. I'm glad i'm here to be a bit of a buffer for them both.
I've been painting and cooking and going for walks. The town has changed and grown a lot over the last few years but it's still very sleepy and quiet.
Mum and I are going to get our hair cut in Beechworth this afternoon. The girl/woman who is cutting my hair is one of the "tough" chicks I went to school with, y'know, the ones who smoked ciggies in the loos and threatened to bash people up on a regular basis. I'm a bit scared. :-)
I should get off Dad's computer, he's hovering and making cranky noises.
Hopefully, I'll be back in Melbourne by friday. Fri, Sep. 14th, 2007, 04:33 pm Yes I realise this is my fourth post today...

My top ten careers are... drum roll... Ta dah! 1.Clergy 2.Sport Psychology Consultant 3.Website Designer 4.Psychologist 5.Historian 6.Fashion Designer 7.Desktop Publisher 8.Cartoonist / Comic Illustrator 9.Anthropologist 10.Costume Designer ( 11 to 40 here )I think 3 to 40 are all good choices for me. But 1 and 2 are weird. Hmmm, clergy, being a pagan I guess I could become a High Priestess, does that pay well?? :-P Sports Psychology consultanat is not something I would've ever contemplated, ever. I was always picked last and with good reason. If you want to give it a go do this.. 1. Go to http://www.careercruising.com/. 2. Put in Username: nycareers, Password: landmark. 3. Take their "Career Matchmaker" questions. 4. Post the top ten results |
