I'll be doing the live Beastlie-making in about one hour (3:30 PST). Live video chat by Ustream
Yup. Come over to the actual site so you can type stuff at me. Emory's still at work, which means I'll have to respond to the chat on my own. So if you have a real question or point to make, feel free to repeat it like a three-year-old who wants something. No kidding.

Emory and I took a walk this morning in Griffith Park. We watched kids on the old restored carousel, and we followed a trail that took us up to the site of the old abandoned Los Angeles Zoo that closed in the 60s (although, apparently it was doomed ever since WWI when many of the bigger animals died of starvation). They kind of just left it, with the addition of some picnic tables, so you can walk around in these old fake-cave enclosures where they kept bears or big cats. You can climb in to ancient ramshackle cages that are overgrown with vines and patches of graffiti. The ruins are creepy and sad and awesome. I can't believe they left it like that. I didn't have my camera, so I'll just link to someone else's photo set.

I prescribed myself a non-NPR diet this week. I get too stressed and panicky listening to the news lately, and it's not good for me.
However, I lack the discipline to stick to this. I listened to music instead of news for about a day, and then I gave in. I'm back to being a bundle of nerves.
On the upside of life, Emory has started using "slayer" as a nickname for me. Why? He's not sure. There seems to be no real reason. But it does warm my heart to be greeted by a kiss and "What's happening, slayer?" after work.

If you missed the show, fear not. I recorded it. In separate chunks, one per sculpture.
The show, again.
Whenever it sounds like I'm talking about random things like a schizophrenic, it's because I'm responding to something someone said on the chat. Not the voices in my head.
But thanks so much to everyone who came! A whole big bunch of people showed up! Yay!

Lauren has time to do my website after all. I'm so exctied about this. She's the best. She's a designer for an online kids game/virtual world, so it's even a good fit with the work she's been doing. We went over some ideas and sketches while I was up in SF, and I couldn't be more optimistic about it. Here's my rough sketch for the beastlie that's going to be the link to the "fun/extras" type section, which I'm going to call "Treats:"

Also, this very brief, weekend trip up to San Francisco was so fantastic. It was exactly what I needed. Emory and I had such a great time with Lauren and Andrew. And Hilary and Jim! I'm going back in two weeks for the opening of the Monster Art Rally show, and I'm already really looking forward to it.
Plus, Emory and I came up with the most awesome idea for the wedding. I'm a little giddy about it. I don't want to say what it is, since spoilers would ruin the surprise a little. But it's going to make me go crazy unless I tell some people. Just a few...

Speaking of the Atrox, I should post more often about the comics I do there. Here's the new one for today:

I know we haven't posted a new video at the Atrox in quite a while. Well, we've been working on this one a long time. A LONG time. So now, we present... "Pederascals." And it's only part one. It's up on our video page at The Lair, but I'll embed the Youtube version (split into two parts) for convenience.

EDIT: Thanks so much to everyone who came! I couldn't even keep up with the chat there near the end! I'm pretty pleased with how it went, so I'll start doing that more regularly. Also, I'll be posting the two guys I made during the show here in my store as soon as I get them baked and photographed (hopefully later this evening). Also, a couple others, hopefully. Thanks again!

Okay, a live Beastlie-making videocast. will actually probably happen at about 3 (pacific time) this afternoon. It might be brief. This depends on how self-conscious and/or flustered I get. But I will post it here when it happens.

Tomorrow (Monday), I will (I think) try to broadcast a live Beastlies-making show. Sort of a test run... I have no idea when would be a good time to do this regularly. Maybe weekends, maybe Mondays... Maybe it won't work at all. But we're gonna give it a shot. I'll post again when this happens.

Monster Art Rally!
Gallery 1988 in San Francisco, Oct. 10 - Nov. 1 So if you're going to the APE convention, and you're there a day early or so, stop by the gallery! I'm aiming to have 50 Beastlies there, but it might be closer to 40.

I'm home sick today, so cut me some slack.
It kind of looks like I'm about to cry, doesn't it? I promise it's just a head cold.
Take a picture of yourself right now. Don’t change your clothes, don’t fix your hair… Just take the picture. Post the picture with no editing. Post these instructions with your picture.
There it be. Ugh. I feel like crap. Time for some soup and TV.

| DO YOU HAVE SKILLS (for cheap) |

Or, alternately, do you know someone who does?
I need a Beastlies website. Like, a really slick, adorable one. That sings and dances. Little mini animations hopping around. Other than that goofery, it doesn't need to be overly complex. Gallery of previous Beastlies, link to my etsy store, "news" section, "press" section, "about" section... A little venue for the videocasting thing I'm pondering... This is what I'm thinking of.
Here's the thing, though, I'm relatively poor. I'm checking around with friends at the moment because, a) I like to support friends, and b) I'm hoping to get the "friend" discount. But I thought I'd throw it out there to the world: Do you know anyone who might give me the friend-of-a-friend discount?
