for one, This is bad-ass. Ali, I think you need that in your front yard!

Secondly...
Place, Chip Time, Pace: 445/493, 1:38:33, 15:52/M in the 10K yesterday! (I walked the whole way with short jolts of a jog down hills and past the finish line!)

Still pretty emotional so my boss let me skip the morning meeting and go for a walk. I sit here looking at the arena wishing to whatever god is out there to have one of the sharks management come ask
me to join their work-force. It's all I've ever wanted was to work in sports. It's a long ways away, tho. I feel so limited and stuck all too often - even with the other offering/option. We'll see.
Listen to Tony!!!

go figure i finally finish this up when Ali is in Africa! Good grief!

So back in March my darling dear friend Ali (aka [info]rosey27 came to visit...cuz she's just that bitchin'. We took lots of pix...most of which she has already posted cuz she's way more on top of things than me! Now I'm finally posting mine...and hers :) We hit up a variety of places - Santa Cruz, Sonoma, Napa, Big Sur, San Francisco...even found something to do in rusty-ol' San Jose.

My pix

Pix of Platehead Connor (thanks Lisa & Ken for sending him with us so soon after he was born! What a crazy party animal your kid is!!!!!!!!!!)

Ali's pix (ali has pix from Big Sur...I didn't have any room on my camera for that last day)

So, let's see, what can I recall from all that fun we had...outside of my dog getting super sick and later getting diagnosed with pancreatitis :(

Ali flies in...we kick back at the house. Next day we hit up Santa Cruz with Mom and took a longish walk along the cliffs. Next day we went to the Egyptian Museum in San Jose...which never has anything different...but I have to admit I get freaked out whenever near the mummies. I keep thinking they are going to rise from the dead and come get me for staring or something. I just find it slightly disturbing when bodies are dug up, don't you? Doesn't that disturb their soul that was arranged in that way for a reason? Hmph.

Anyhow...next two days were Wine Country (Napa & Sonoma). Had some FANTASTIC food while we were there. YUMMMMMMMMMM. Especially Rutherford Grill. Mostly cuz they gave me the recipes for a few things :) And the Portuguese restaurant in Sonoma...Represent bitches!!!
We drank lots, laughed like nothing else, and had a fucking fun time...even tho the Sterling Winery gondola wasn't working :( And the dude chatting up the Republican ladies next to us. *uch*
On the way to Sonoma we went to the Petrified Forrest. Learned how trees become petrified. Apparently it has nothing to do with getting scared. Damn.
In Sonoma, mom got a bit tipsy and began to skip around like a kid at the BR Cohn winery. This was mostly cuz the owner was the Doobie Brothers manager. I have never seen my mom so excited in my entire life. Seriously. She was ecstatic. It was slightly disturbing, in fact LOL

Next day...hiking in San Francisco along the Pacific coast area. Great views...fucking crazy stair cases. Oi! I don't think I've bitched that much in my life! But it was well worth it. We started at the Legion of Honor and hiked around to China Beach and then back to the Legion where we ate lunch...and were stalked by a billion crazy birds. They wouldn't leave us alone! Then they flew away in a pack - like their mother got home and yelled to get their asses back to the tree. So weird. We then drove to the Sutro Baths to explore. Cool place, but it really upset me to see how people defaced the ruins with spray paint "claiming their turf"...fuckers. Afterwards we went to the movies to watch Zombies take over the world.

Next day we stayed home to rest after the day of hiking. This was also when Cleo got super sick and we had to take her to see Doc...who is not looking healthy these days! :( Cleo apparently has pancreatitis (sp?) and has to remain on a bland diet for the rest of her life...aka boiled chicken, rice, cottage cheese. Gross.

Next day...haircuts! Ohhhhhhhhh how fab it felt to chop off just about 10 inches of hair and finally get to donate it! I've always wanted to do that :)

Ali's last full day of her trip we drove down the coast to Big Sur and picnic'd at Bixby Bridge. This is where we watched Ponch & Donald Sutherland investigate the bridge. To clarify - there was this random cop looking down the top of the bridge towards the base. Later, this other dude (a detective, from what we could tell) came by and was observing with him. Cop looked like Ponch from CHiPs and the detective looked like Donald Sutherland...hence the names. I think Ali has a couple pix of that. I still want to know what the hell was going on down there!

where did the spring go?
