What? Jul. 1st, 2008 @ 10:07 am
So I'm going to look into this very carefully: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080701/ap_on_el_pr/obama_faith

Obama wanting to expand Bush's faith-based programs? If this is what it sounds like I'll vote for a third party.

Expelled Exposed Jun. 30th, 2008 @ 09:59 am
So Ben Stein made a documentary about how "Big Science" (I guess science is a bad word now) is persecuting people who believe in Creationism (sorry, "Intelligent Design"). Poor Ben Stein, living in a country that won't let him believe in God or question evolution. Oh wait, he does. In fact, he got to make a nationally released movie about how he feels that was promoted in theatres (behind blockbusters, no less) and on television news programs. The film did recieve widely negative reviews and was regarded as propaganda, however, (the relation he makes between teaching evolution and the holocaust didn't play well) so maybe there is a Big Science conspiracy after all.

But being that it is a free country and since I'm a free speech advocate I fully support Ben Stein in making a movie that promotes his agenda. Unfortunately, his quest had a budget of $3.5 million dollars, and these guys built a website debunking everything in his movie for the price of a domain name: http://www.expelledexposed.com/.

Man, I love the internet.

Lou Dobson needs a dictionary Jun. 24th, 2008 @ 02:19 pm
A quote from Evangelist Lou Dobson responding to a speech that Barack Obama gave where he stated that we cannot govern according to a literal biblical interpretation:

"And if I can't get everyone to agree with me, than it is undemocratic to try to pass legislation that I find offensive to the Scripture. Now, that is a fruitcake interpretation of the Constitution."

The definition of the word "democratic" according to Merriam-Webster:

3: relating to, appealing to, or available to the broad masses of the people

good riddance Jun. 24th, 2008 @ 01:09 pm
I love it when neo-conservative, Christian-Right-fueled bullshit educational programs get flushed down the toilet: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080624/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/abstinence_education.

A highlight:

"The abstinence-only grants have been controversial from the start.

Supporters say comprehensive sex education sends a mixed message and that abstinence is the only method that is 100 percent effective in preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease. Critics say abstinence education simply doesn't stop teens from having sex, and those teens need more information about how to reduce pregnancy and disease.

In April 2007, a federally funded study of four abstinence-only programs by Mathematica Policy Research Inc., found that participants had just as many sexual partners as nonparticipants and had sex at the same median age as nonparticipants. The four programs had taught students about human anatomy and sexually transmitted diseases, helped them improve their communication skills, manage peer pressure, set personal goals and build self-esteem.

For Colorado, the study results sealed the decision to get out of the program. Dr. Ned Calonge, the state's chief medical officer, said Mathematica's methods were the gold standard for scientific studies.

"To show no benefit compared to nothing. That was striking," Calonge said. "These are tax dollars that are going for no useful purpose, and it would not be responsible for us to take those dollars."

Under the program, states have to put up $3 for every $4 they get from the federal government."

Talk about being fiscally irresponsible. Lets dump tax dollars down the drain telling kids in high school to not screw. This was what I got in high school. I swear, the warped sex-ed I had back in the South should have been deemed criminal. Well, there really wasn't any "ed" involved. I learned nothing except that I could get AIDS by staring at somebody funny. Anyway, hooray for getting rid of abstinance-only eduation!

My outrage at the program has nothing to do with me not getting any ass back in high school, for the record.

I can't even think of what to write. George Carlin was one of my biggest influences and a huge reason for me getting into comedy.

1. Hulk smash puny Portugese translations

2. Hulk smash puny bottle plant

2. The Mr.Blue / Mr. Green plot taken from Bruce Jones' run

3. Seeing The Leader and Doc Samson on camera being set up for a sequel

4. The Jim Wilson and Jack McGee cameos

5. Hulk Smash puny helicopters

6. The "Lonely Man Theme"

7. References to Nick Fury and Sheild

8. Lou Ferrigno eats a pizza.

9. Liv Tyler

What didn't I like? Well, the story was a bit messy. Also, it seems like they cut out a lot in order to make the film more popcorn-friendly so it jumps around a bit. Either way I'm happy with what they did. Thank you Edward Norton, Louis Letterier and co. for making a worthwhile Hulk movie. Now I just need all you people at home to go watch it so they make another one.
