It seems that Jay Chou was featured on Wiki's frontpage on July 21st as that day's featured article. I missed it, of course, but it wasn't hard to dig it back up.

It's weird that my professor posted our grades on BlackBoard but not eSims. But knowing him, he probably got lazy after posting everyone's final homeworks' grades and final grades yesterday on BB and decided to do eSims today. Pfft.

Of course, Anatomy is closed. Of course.
Originally, the plan was that if I couldn't get Anatomy (at Hunter - I didn't want to deal with ePermit), I would change my decision from "attending" to "not attending" and we'd move back to Malaysia. (The move was planned for after I graduated from Hunter.) But even if I did that, we most likely wouldn't fly back 'til the end of the year anyway, or even after Chinese New Year. So my dad told me to take the other 2 classes; with them on record, I might not have to re-take them should I decide to take up nursing again elsewhere. Hence the schedule.

An article regarding the 2008 Miss HK results being fixed. The gist of it: the winner and runner-ups were announced on the TVB Miss HK website before the aired announcement. The problem? They were completely different results and netizens are saying that they were changed last-minute because the winner's father happened to be wealthy and had connections with the TVB higher-ups.
Surprised, anyone? *rolls eyes* When are the pageant results never fixed? Oh, TVB; you've screwed yourself over now.

The sooner all the idiots in the world die, the better off the rest of us will be.
So we went to Ming Wang on 58th and 8th for dinner tonight because one of my godsisters' friends came down to NY from NC. I now live like 4 blocks away so me and my dad could've easily walked there but we decided to take the car out anyway. AC, you know. =3 It took us a while but we managed to snag a parking space right in front of the restaurant. Dinner was fine. Then we came out and found a car double-parked and blocking the front half of our car. So my dad honked his horn for literally 10 minutes and no one came out. There was a little traffic jam in the beginning and everyone else was honking. It was loud - the driver could've heard us even if he was deaf! But he didn't. So we waited for 10 fucking minutes and finally, this couple sauntered out of the store right next to Ming Wang like there wasn't a care in the world. At which point, I lost it.
I told them how they had 2 people and one could've stayed in the car, that we waited 10 minutes with our horn honking the entire time, and what? they couldn't hear us? I was a breath short of cussing them out but we're all civilized people, yes? And the (white) guy? All he said was, "Okay," 2 or 3 times. He didn't even apologized - neither him nor his stupid Chinese girlfriend did. At the end, my dad muttered, "Stupid," and the guy heard. He was all, "What?" and we all just stared back at him. His dumb ABC girlfriend was like, "Enough is enough." Which pissed me off even more but I let it go. First, they don't apologize. Then they act all self-righteous? Yeah, my dad called the guy stupid, so what? My dad was right. He wants to double-park? Rule of thumb is to leave at least one person in the car - preferably the driver - who can either move the car him/herself or get the driver back from wherever he/she may be and move it. I'm not a driver and clearly, I know driving rules better than this guy.
When they finally moved, my dad pulled out and our car was right behind his. The guy turned on his right blinker. Guess what? He turned left. In the end, there are 2 types of drivers in the world - a driver and a smart driver. If you're not the latter, get the hell off the road.
Funniest part, though, was that just minutes earlier, when we were still waiting, we had a conversation like this in the car:
Fion: What if the person isn't Chinese? Who's going to yell at them?
Jenny: Not Ah Lui (which is how they call me); she never raises her voice.
Fion: Except Ah Choi, who may look the part, none of us here can put up a fight.
And minutes later, I was the one doing all the pissed off yelling. Everyone was ecstatic and cheering. Jenny was like, "I'll never forget this moment for the rest of my life!" Their impression of me is that of a "good girl," though frankly, even I think they misjudged a bit (just a tad =P). I do have a temper, only I've never lost it in front of them. They've never seen me raise my voice at anything so they just assumed I don't do that. If they bothered to ask my dad, though, he could've told them how wrong they were and that I'm actually quite temperamental. =3

I started to replay the game late last week. Or, rather, continue where I left off in hopes of finishing it before the end of the summer. I stayed up late every night to get onto the next part of the story. Now I'm in the last stretch of Feywood, right before trying to open up the path to the Ancient City (that Giru-whatever place) and well... I'm quite positively bored.
BUT.
Has anyone who's seen Ashe's "Heaven's Wrath" Quickening ever thought... panty shot?
Maybe I just have a naturally pervy mind.
Maybe.
Anyway. So after playing the game again, I've come to the following conclusion:
Balthier is the sex and I would like to have his babies.

So the gist of it is:
- Kayono plagiarized some of Takashima's works. Examples are up on the 2nd website link, though they come primarily from Wild Rock. Whether or not Kayono has plagiarized other Takashima mangas, I don't know.
- Of course, she refused to admit it and her mother - who is some famous mangaka herself - came out and started lashing out at Takashima and the BL genre as a whole.
- In the end, the blame was put on Takashima even though everyone knew Kayono was wrong and that she's nothing but a spoiled brat with a rich mommy and daddy. *pause* Alright, so the last bit is bitter resentment on my part but can you really blame me?
I don't know when the actual date of this is but I do wonder if this might have been part of the reason why Takashima disappeared from the manga world for so long. Fortunately for us Takashima fans, she does appear to be coming back.
EDIT: Here's an interesting article on plagiarism and the manga industry.

Restaurant week! Who's up for some good food?

Last year, I made a promise to myself that I would try the Kobe Club this year. I must fulfill my promise to myself! Well, I did make a reservation with Kobe Club but then canceled it. We went to Atlantic City today instead of Woodbury for some shopping. My 2 godsisters bought a lot of stuff - especially at Coach. I really don't see why everyone in their immediately family needs a passport holder, even if it's Coach and was only $29.99. How often do they really use their passport anyway? It spends most of the time in the safe deposit box. I only bought a new Coach bag after hours of walking. It's this one but for some reason, it doesn't show up on the Coach website. I actually had to do a search on "Heritage" just to find some of the collection. But I saw it at the store and I knew I must have it. So I bought it, came home, and suckered my brother into getting it for me as a belated birthday gift. He did say he'd make it up to me. xP He did, though, and paid me back (though $8 less than what was charged to my credit card but who's complaining?) ♥
The buffet at Bally sucked. It was too little food for too high of a price. I think the only reason they even dare charge $21.99 is because there's "seafood" - which, really, is just shrimp, crab legs, and mussels. And of course, it made me sick. I had to run to use the bathroom at McD's afterwards 'cause something didn't well in my stomach. >.>
We drove my brother's car there and since I couldn't get Z100 or AM1480 out in AC, I was changing his CDs constantly. And I found a Chinese version of "Morai Naki," which really doesn't surprise me but.... Well, it was a bad song, to put it mildly. It took me a while to realize it was indeed "Morai Naki" - except like 10 pitches lower.

I was walking to the train station today after dropping off a package and buying some much needed water at Duane Reade. I just arrived on the corner of Park Avenue when I realized there was a gigantic rat running across in front of me. It was longer than my hand from my fingertips to my wrist - tail excluded - and as big as my fist. Just running in broad daylight with dozens of people around. I don't know where it came from but it tried to cross 23rd St towards 22nd. This guy saw it and sort of jumped, ending up with his legs more than shoulder's width apart and the rat just ran right between his legs. And all the females were shrieking. But then the rat got ran over by a taxi that was turning into 23rd. I thought the taxi missed it since it was still able to run. But it took about 3-4 human steps before keeling over just steps from the curb. NYC + rats = OTP, yar.

Something about this line from this article about Fala Chen amuses me:
"When asked about whether she had a sudden diva atittude at work due to becoming popular, she states that she doesn't have one because she is not famous yet."
I don't know if her meaning was simply lost in translation or she literally said that but does this means if she becomes famous (which will never happen unless all the current TVB fa dans suddenly die and there's no one left), she will get an attitude? Get you wondering, don't it?

I want to go see the William So-Andy Hui with Eddie Ng special guest concert on August 8!!! I've seen Andy Hui a few years ago when he came to Mohegan Sun and he's nothing special. I don't particularly like his stuff but I lovelovelove William So and I've never seen him in a concert so I rea~lly want to go. And I'm sure my dad can get us room for COMP since Horseshoe is part of Harrah's Entertainment.
...Except Horseshoe is in Indiana. It's a 13-hour drive away and plane tickets are too expensive for one little concert. (Don't forget, of course, that there's also the concert tickets themselves.) But I really want to go~~~. T_T
I've heard only one song by Eddie Ng, though. It was a duet he did with William So for the 2003 The Vigilante in the Mask. (Not the opening theme, as I think that was a William So solo, but a sub-theme.) It would've been interesting to hear more of his stuff.

I hate it when I find out one of my favorite authors is releasing a new book because that means I have to go even more broke buying it (although I don't doubt that it'll be worth it.) But I hate it more when I find out that she's releasing another one next summer - right before I even get a chance to read this one. Boo! Oh, well. Sergei/Alec is my OTP~! (Helps, too, that they're canon. ♥) Summer 2009 cannot come soon enough!
In Hunter news, ePermit still hates me and I still haven't called them yet, maybe Friday. A&P is still closed but Kingsborough can always be my new best friend (assuming ePermit stops hating me fast enough for that to happen.)
And I got 2 weirdass calls today. I'm thinking they're telemarketers who finally got a brain. I got woken up today by one call. It was from a 877 number. The second I picked up, a machine came on to tell me how my "auto warranty" is expiring and this is the "second and final notice to renew" and that if I would like to renew, I should "press 1 to speak with a representative." I didn't think much about this first call at first because my dad just had to renew his registration like 2 weeks ago. Except I wasn't sure what "auto warranty" was - that wording confused me because for all I know, everyone calls it "registration" or "title." And anyway, I doubt now that DMV would call the people to tell them their registrations are expiring. I'm sure that'll be too much of a hassle and sending out the forms is enough. And then an hour or so later, I got a call from "my credit card company" telling me my "lower interest rate offer" will expire soon and I should "press 1 to talk to a representative to take advantage of the offer." This one I was much more skeptical about because they didn't specify their company and we have credit cards with 3+ companies so I hung up right away. That and we get offers like this in the mail every day anyway - they usually come attached with our credit card bills. But I think if the second call didn't come, I'd still be worrying about the first one. Now all is well. Yar.

Professor canceled class tomorrow! I can sleep in!
What the fudge is up with the rain lately? I was on my way to the train station from school and it started raining. I saw people with really wet umbrellas and pants in the train. But then I get out and there's a sun?!
I was reading the Sunday Singtao paper and it looks like Koda Kumi is back in full force. There was an article about her throwing the first pitch at a baseball game. Except of course, all she got was the pose but not the actual ability to, you know, throw a ball. And of course, she followed up with a full upper-body bend. *rolls eyes* Sorry to
quentin_w but... Why do people still follow this woman? Clearly, she has no brain - as proven by the "rotten womb" incident - and her talent isn't really up to par with the other major Japanese artists. Hell, I think Hamasaki is 50 times better than her and I hate Hamasaki; when she stop being so unoriginal and releasing song after song that sounds almost identical, I'll stop hating her but that ain't happening soon, is it? Frankly, if it weren't for her sex appeal, I doubt Koda would even make it this far. (And if I hear one more thing about ero kawaii, I'm going to tape everyone's mouths shut with super-glue. Sex appeal is sex appeal - stop trying to tone it down with "cuteness." Flashing your boobs is not "cute.")
And as long as I'm railing on artists I don't like, direct your cursor over here - http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh26 9/olioli_2008/200806230000251lixiaoli.jp g. There are many things I can say about this cover but I'll refrain.
I think, at least, I'm beginning to understand why I know next to nothing about my favorite artists outside of the song. Yeah, I love UVERworld; I love Kobukuro; I love Kiyokiba Shunsuke; I love melody.; I love a dozen more artists. But I don't know them. I barely know how they look like. (Except Takuya because Takuya is God. Well, Gackt, too, but in a plasticy way.) When all I focus on is the music, I can think less about their "ero kawaii"-ness or "ero kakkoii"-ness. They're there to entertain me with good music and as long as they've done that, I'm happy. So what if they have boobs?

My dad is pretty awesome. Sure, he can be infuriating and retarded most of the time but still. We went out to HSBC - which is literally a block away from us - to use the ATM earlier this evening. And we took the car out. From 9th avenue, this car came up behind us and started blaring her horn and practically tailgated us all the way to 8th avenue. Apparently, she was rushing to her death. *rolls eyes* And what did my dad do? Not only did he not speed up, he slowed down. The more the lady blared her horn, the slower my dad drove. When he could've passed the green light, he didn't and stopped when the "Don't Walk" sign was still only blinking. Of course, when the light turned green again, the lady started honking again and my dad didn't give a shit. He just kept going slowly, like he was daring her to ram her newer car into ours. Dumb blonde chick didn't have the guts, of course - just a loud horn. ROFL. Oh, dad. ♥♥♥

So I was walking past this probably-another-Chinese/Japanese-takeou t-restaurant place on my way to class this morning (or maybe it was in the afternoon, I forget so easily these days) and it had a neon sign up at the window. I could've sworn it said SPEAKING SUSHI, to which I thought, "Oh hey that's pretty awesome! Speaking sushi--- *whiplash* What the fuck?!"
In actuality, it said "Sea King sushi." So close, so close.
And god I need a cheat sheet writing these damn chemical equations. Why do they make us do crap in lab that we haven't gone over in lecture yet?
