Eureka/Nero Wolfe...

Jo Lupo/Archie Goodwin.

"Archie, stop flirting with my deputy." Cobb rumbled.

Goodwin straightened slightly and made a hand gesture, "Your deputy? Oh, she's your deputy now? And what am I, chopped liver?"

"You knew when you took that other job you would be replaced."

"And you know you can't do without me. Not that--" Archie looked at Jo, who might possibly have been able to kill him with her pinky, and reconsidered what he'd been about to say. "--actually, I take it back. You're obviously getting along famously without me. So. Deputy Lupo, is there anything to do around here?"

"Well," replied Jo, "I could punch you in the face, but I don't think that's what you had in mind, is it."

please go join That Woman in the corner of shame and never do a comicbook movie again.

(I don't object to most of the interview, even if she seems a bit of a money-obsessed killjoy, but, seriously? "Comics are still for boys"??? FU, GP. FU sideways with a chainsaw.)

Article interviewing the three women in the current crop of Comicbook movies (excepting Hellboy 2, of course. Wouldn't want them to interview a female character who isn't just a girlfriend/personal assistant)

note: Live Tyler is adorable

1. People reading the BBC Torchwood novels (if there are any of you), can you tell me if David Llewellyn's 'Trace Memory' is typical for them? I mean in style, tone, etc.

2. I'm a little tempted to make myself write at least 100 words of Kara/Sam--and post it--every day. If only to get myself back into the habit. (or, y'know, anything)

3. I have jury duty Wednesday and Thursday. In searching for the paperwork, I discovered that I have ten thousand pieces of paper with scenes, notes and whole fics on them. Right now, I have so many pieces of stories to write, I will NEVER COMPLETE THEM before I die.

3a. Probably.

4. I discovered something while reading Trace Memory. I don't really like writing straight Torchwood fic. I far prefer writing them in crossovers. Maybe because the canon gives me exactly what I want?

5. I have spoiled myself quite a bit for the DW season 4 ender. Am still spoiler-free for TW season 2, however. eta: is spoilery comments, somewhat, yes.

42 Days in Hell ficletathon

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Billy pirate
So. I know. I know, I know, there's lots and lots of people hosting ficlet battles and -athons. One more is totally going to break the collective fannish creative pool.

This one is a bit different. It's open for 42 days, the same length of time left until [info]aj's roommate is gone for good. I promise I'll try not to bombard everyone with reminder posts for the next month and change, but I will note it's still open on occasion.

For now? Your theme is 42 Days in Hell. Pairings, fandoms, smut, gen, ship, femslash, rpf, all up to you. Except for two limitations: no incest, no boyslash.

This post is for collecting prompts. You have five days. After that, I'll post the list and you can all begin writing.

Prompts should be the fairly standard format (please put crossovers in alphabetical order. Battlestar Galactica before Torchwood, people):
Fandom, character(s) or pairing, prompt
Crossover, Fandom 1/Fandom 2, character(s) or pairing, prompt

Examples:
Battlestar Galactica, Billy Keikeya, lost in translation
Crossover, Battlestar Galactica/Stargate: Atlantis, Billy Keikeya/Teyla Emmagan, sandalwood

Note: please don't edit your comment to add new prompts, please just make a new comment.

You know. I wanna be Annie Lennox when I grow up. Also? Anyone writing me Annie Lennox/Azkadellia femslash would be... cause for amusement.

fic: newBSG, memories are just where you laid them, PG

disclaimer: not mine
fandom: newBSG
characters: Seelix, Cally, Chief
length: 1200+
set: during the year on New Caprica, vague spoilers.
rating: PG, language
notes: another one of the notes I had sitting around. The three-hundred-word ficlet evolved. Time on BSG is a bit sketchy, but I think this fits pretty neatly into the show. Title from Fuel's "Hemorrhage"

Being unable to type.

And thus going to bed, even though my brain is bouncing along.

In other news, I'm in love with this line; Yeah, that Cavil had said there was a cease-fire, but Seelix believed that like she believed Chief was a toaster.

fic: newskool Who, Always on the Run

Romana ftw
disclaimer: not mine.
fandom: Doctor Who, newskool
rating: PG, language, violence
characters: Martha Jones, Jack Harkness, the Doctor, a wee bit of OT3. If you squint.
length: 1100+
spoilers: er. I don't know, Utopia, except not? This is in Lyssie's personal canon where the end of Utopia didn't suck monkey ass through a straw.
notes: I've got this habit. Of making notes when I have a fic idea. I get a lot of fic ideas and I make a lot of notes on paper. The difficulty is in moving them from paper to computer. This was a drabble, now it isn't. Oops.

1. I have finished my getyourtoaster pinch-hit. *victory arms* (Boomer/Starbuck, pre-series)

2. [info]karma_aster and I are internet famous! We have a page on the fanhistory wiki! (also, I'm famous on the Doctor Who wiki as being the first writer to post DW fic to ff'net. WHO KNEW?? I do not, however, have my own entry. *sobs*)

3. It is International Femslash Day, in some part of the world. Now, if I could just get something more written (like that Kara/Carter piece that got started as commentfic for [info]woodface and then died, ARG).

4. There is no #4.

You are not fragile flowers. Women are not oppressing you because you claim to have a penis. We're oppressing you because you're a dumbass. (the last line is directed at a specific male)

Ways to lose my sympathy? Claim that female mods are biased against men.

1. Apparently, Thursday decided the earlier days of the week had been utter assholes and has been relatively nice to me.

2. My ankle is loads better, and now I'm wondering if I actually injured it as much as I thought I had. My left upper arm is being obnoxious, though, so I think I may've caught most of the impact shock on that arm. This would explain my aching left knee (I BOUNCE WHEN I FALL, OK?)

3. I have cookies.

4. I made the mistake of wandering over to stare at prompts at marveloustales and now I have *pauses to count* uh, 12 paragraphs of Jean Grey/Misty Knight femslash. wtf, brain, wtf? (help, I don't know Misty other than in passing. I don't think I've actually ever READ anything with her in it)

5. I retrieved my notes on the Eurekathon fic. This is good.

6. I have my Getyourtoaster pinch-hit file open (where else did Jean/Misty get saved? sigh), and a reasonable ending line. Now I just need to do the rest and throw in a little more.

7. Lostcityfound is hosting a fic battle for SG: Atlantis.

8. Wisteria's Porn Battle is still going on.

9. They are chocolate chip cookies.

10. And Drabble Tag never ended at [info]pyramidofdreams, lazy though we are.

11. I need to write up a review post for Sword of Orion, detailing why I liked it and why I can still listen to it and not want to shoot myself.

12. OOOH. Also. I snagged 'If I Were a Carpenter' from Half Price, so expect me ripping it and squandering links to ysi for the tracks that are awesome. Because I heart that album.

It has so not been my week.

Monday? Migraine. Drove home half-blind, spent the rest of the night in pain and nauseas. Still had to pick roommate up from work (oh, that was totally awesome fun, I tell you), and feed her.

Tuesday? Dizzy, leftover migraine annoyances, for about three hours. Miraculously went away when I left work, however the intense heat nearly made me sick as I drove home. Went to view apartment, it was dinky and not all that great. Ended up in bed late.

Wednesday? Slept through my alarm. Going off. For an HOUR. Yes. The beepbeeepbeeeeeeeeeeeep didn't wake me. Then, THEN, walking back from the ice cream social at a different building, I stepped off the path and folded my right ankle in half. Sideways. I also nailed my left knee. I now limp when I walk. (It's not broken, because I can walk on it. It's possibly sprained, but I know what they'll say: "Stay off of it, put it up, ice it, take anti-inflammatories, etc" I have no time or money to go get told that)

I am really motherfucking lucky I wore my combat boots today. There is no way I could have kept the swelling down, otherwise. (nor could I have a) walked, b) driven)

So, what's up next, Thursday? You gonna give me a concussion? Get me fired? What? Bring it on, motherfucker.

eta: also, I left an entire scene for my Eurekathon fic at work. How's that for brilliant? Luckily, I know most of what it was.

1. In Plain Sight, please keep being so damned awesome. And if you could have a crossover that didn't have Wheeler making some stupid remark about the TWO SECONDS of screen-time Mary had, that would be nice. Failing that, crossover with NCIS so Mary can punch Tony and go out for drinks and consolation sex with Ziva. pls.

2. Criminal Intent. I still haven't forgiven the loss of Falacci, but I'd probably be more ok with it if you hadn't spent the first episode with her gone basically making her out to be a territorial bitch who would do pointless things like leaving nail polish (did she ever even wear nail polish? no) and a coffee mug. Because that was so totally in character for her. Yup.

3. We still haven't watched the following season finales: Bones, Doctor Who, Torchwood. I've been somewhat spoiled for all three.

4. Sword of Orion, the Big Finish audio, is awesome. Right at the moment, I'd say it's ten times more entertaining than ANY of newskool save Blink.

5. Captain Britain and MI13 is fucking awesome.

6. I don't remember the exact wording anymore, but there was a thread on the BSG skiffy board wherein someone was going on about Ron Moore, Chris Nolan (Batman), and Joss Whedon 'bringing realistic everyday people thrust into being heroes and gritty realism, etc, etc' to the tv/movie industry. I still kinda want to find it to reply "Fritz Lang called, he says to stfu and stfd." Because, seriously? SERIOUSLY? Someone hasn't been reading/watching SF for very long.

1. getting a migraine fifteen minutes before you have to leave work, and praying like mad that you'll be able to drive home even though you can't see. Because driving while spacey and with the feeling gone in your left hand isn't so great.

2. suspecting one might not make it into work the next day.

I did at least make it home.

Amusingly, the guy at CC was all "You'll have two slots, and one will be empty" about my RAM. And. Um. No. One is not empty. I have two 256 MB RAM sticks. OLD COMPUTER IS OLD.

I also have to pretend to be a real adult today, and talk to housing people. bleh.

I should go take the laptop in to get the dvd drive fixed (or replaced). Am also going to ask about getting RAM for my computer, as, um, I was pulling up the specs and I apparently have... 512 MB of RAM.

You know. I knew my computer was old, but, not that old.

Possibly, it needs an upgrade.

It is also sunny and breezy outside. And I should go to Whole Foods and get bread. Mm. Bread.

ps, write me Kara/Sam fic
