She Was a Day Tripper (Sunday Driver Yeah)
So, today I went out driving, shopping and apple-picking in Middleburg & Fauquier County with my godmother. Good times, y'all.

Both outside Middleburg:

And one of us driving into Fauquier:

Sadly, we missed most of the good leaf viewing experience - I think they reached "peak" last weekend - but it was still a beautiful day at 75 degrees and breazy. Plus, we were in her 2004 BMW convertible, so I felt all important. ;)

Random - did you know Senator Warner used to live in Middleburg, back when he was married to Elizabeth Taylor, and that The West Wing uses the town as a stand-in for President Barlett's hometown? I was not aware of this.

At any rate, I had a fabulous day. I think I need to get out of DC more often. It's fun to be the annoying tourist (instead of pushing them out of my way) for a change!

I knew the stuff about West Wing - well, at least, that's what they used when they used to come out her for shoots, regularly. I knew people who went out there to be extras for a couple of episodes.

Something else I found out - Linda Tripp owns a Christmas shop out there. *shudders*

I am going to Middleburg myself next weekend to spend Saturday night at the Red Fox Inn, a really cool place established in the 1680's. I always love going there and pretending I'm one of the elite sort they cater to. Plus, Mosby's Tavern, right behind it, is great for drinks and people-watching. Glad you had a great day.
