OK so, I'm back from Ireland (again!) - Buncrana in the Republic this time, and it was ace! I totally love Ireland now, north & south.
There will be photos on Flickr and Facebook when I get a chance. Possibly a writeup, although I doubt that at the moment.
I am so so tired. So tired. As per usual, please be notifying me of anything I missed on LJ or in life in general!
I leave you with this:

3kg (approx. 240 pieces) of special-edition Halloween Lindor balls. Courtesy of my wonderful wonderful wonderful boyfriend who is totally spoiling me (he also bought me flowers!). Who wants one?

| Minor crisis of the day |
[Aug. 18th, 2008|06:39 pm] |
The hot tap in my bathroom sink is leaking (actally POURING) and I do not know how to change a washer or how to turn my hot water off to change it and besides I'm going away the day after tomorrow and aaaaaaaargh.
I know it's not a major thing because I pay a flat rate for both my water and hot water, but still. I can hear it dripping. I know it's dripping. Sometimes I hate being a homeowner. The owner of a slightly dodgy, cheap-and-it-shows house.
I will just have to fix it in September. |

I've lived in Peckham for 14 months now and today was the first time I've gone and properly shopped in Netto. It's amazing! It's a cave of wonder! OK so you have to rummage like a mofo, but it's brill! I feel less fretful about the credit crunch, knowing I can shop there ;-)
Haha there's some guy being interviewed Channel 4 News right now called David Porter, which is the name of my dad.
I found out today (via Cuil-ing my name) that I am the lead character in a straight-to-DVD horror called Boogeyman 2. |

| I ♥ Peckham |
[Jul. 15th, 2008|06:23 pm] |
A bit about my long weekend in a moment, but in the meantime...
It's the I ♥ Peckham Festival at the moment and I intend to go to a few things! PSA!
Here is the full lineup of events, I intend to go to the street party on Saturday & Sunday at least, and possibly the folk music night at the Old Nun's Head tomorrow.
Anyone? Bueller?
I am also quite tempted by the last Buttoned Down Disco of the summer on Saturday. The Peckham street party finishes at 7pm so there's definitely time to do both... |

| I WANT THIS TO BE TRUE |
[Jul. 3rd, 2008|08:37 pm] |
From Popbitch:
The publishing world is buzzing with the story that Coolio has sold a cookbook to an American publishing house called Cookin' with Coolio.
Please be true! If it is, I will have a Coolio dinner party! |

This evening on the tube a random lady stopped me and told me my shoes were fantastic! How ace is that? I thanked her profusely and told her that she'd really made my day. Which she did!
They were these shoes, which are indeed my most fabulous pair.
(Incidentally, they're looking a bit scuffed these days - anyone got any tips on the best way to clean/polish patent shoes?) |

[May. 26th, 2008|09:58 am] |
I was going to write up about the rest of my weekend (Ganapati and Indy on Friday; Eurovision on Saturday), but I have the cramps so bad I can barely move, it's pissing with rain and I have to go to Ealing this morning, so I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself.
Why does it have to be raining? Why do I have to have a uterus - a really BAD uterus at that? Why do gynaecologists have to be patronising twits? Why doesn't the traxenamic acid work as well as it used to? Whywhywhywhy? :-(
Eeeeurgh, guess I'd better get off the sofa and get on with it :-(
ETA: scrub that, not going. My own body is trying to kill me and I've made an executive decision to go easy on myself for once. |

| West Side Story |
[Apr. 20th, 2008|08:07 pm] |
Possibly of interest to some on my flist:
There's a 50th anniversary revivial of West Side Story at Sadlers' Wells in July & August this year. I just bought 2 tickets for August 6th :-)
It's pretty pricey (top ticket is £60) but IMHO worth it as WSS is my favouritest musical evah (and I don't even really like musicals). |

| [ | mood |
| | lurgified | ] | I'm up far too early on a Sunday. And it's all down to the really bad cough I have at the moment, which woke me up with an epic smoker-style coughing fit. I've come downstairs so as not to wake my housemate.
Every time I get a cold I get a really bad, phlegmy, vomity-sounding cough to go with it. My lungs are shot :-( Anyone listening to me wouldn't believe I was never a smoker. Can you have a "touch of TB" I wonder?!
I'm having my first-ever Proper dinner party later (well, Sunday lunch party). Excited! |

| [ | mood |
| | enthralled | ] | Well I was going to post a massive rant about work but I don't feel like it now because I got flowers at work!!! And they are totally gorgeous!
The card only says "xxxxxxxxxxxx" (times lots) though...
ETA: look!

[Apr. 13th, 2008|04:45 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | pleased | ] | I drove and it was OK! Well mostly OK. When I got into the car I spent about 3 minutes trying to figure out how to put it into reverse, and when driving I was too heavy on the brakes and revs until I got used to the car. But other than that it was fine. Driving in London is a bit of an experience, especially round here - I hadn't factored in things like having to share the road with buses etc. Overall it was pretty much like getting on a bike and instinctively remembering how to ride. I must use my mirrors more, though.
I drove to B&Q and bought a large bin for the kitchen, then just sort of pootled about and got lost on the weird one-way backstreets of Peckham near the Bellenden Road area (not been down there before and it was slightly scary when I thought I was never going to find the way out!).
Yay! I'm going to book a hire car for the holiday now. I think I can just about manage driving to Exeter (fingers crossed).
Streetcar is pretty cool. You use a swipe card to get into the car and there's a nifty computer inside that you put your PIN into and it releases the keys. Super high-tech! |

I'm never drinking again blahblahblah
In 3 hours I will be sitting in a car, possibly driving it, possibly just having a panic attack at the sheer terror of sitting behind the wheel of a car for the first time in over 8 years.
Hmmm, probably shouldn't have drunk 4 pints and 3 whiskies last night. |

[Apr. 6th, 2008|01:26 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | amused | ] | So yesterday I was on Oxford Street after going to the salon for my monthy face-removal process. There was a group of Anonymous protesters outside Gap, complete with masks, protesting against Scientology one presumes (I beleive Suri Cruise is now 'modelling' for Baby Gap and I think that's the reason).
Anyway, as I was walking past they all started shouting "rickroll! rickroll!" and then they started playing Never Gonna Give You Up.
I love the internet. |
