    Etsy
I've just spent the last few days working really hard on my Etsy shop (http://wwww.livinginthepast.etsy.com), where I'm selling dollhouse miniatures. I've actually sold two things now! That was a bit scary but also hugely fun, sending out the parcels and whatnot. I'm glad that my things are sellable too, I've always been a bit nervous that my stuff is total crap, only worth it if people get it for free. In previous miniatures fairs, I only made about $27. I have made almost that much on Etsy in the past week. I sold a miniature sewing machine, that was designed to look like the little pretend ones that kids in the 50s used to play with, it was blue and white and I'd painted flowers and butterflies onto the white bits. I'd only made it a few days before, I think it had been on Etsy for about two days! The other was two icecream cones that I had made years back actually, but they'd only been on Etsy for a day as well! Hopefully they won't break in the mail... I think that the woman who bought those is actually a shop, looking at her buying history. Which is pretty exciting for me! Also guess what colour I've picked for my tissue paper? :P Yep, purple!

    Doctor Who
Does anyone have any idea how to make a TARDIS cake? Would just an ordinary sponge cake with blue icing work? Or should it be chocolate cake for added deliciousness? Does chocolate go okay with blue icing do you think? ... how would I even *do* the icing? Other than covering it blue I mean. I need the doors/windows/police phone box part... and the... flashy light on top.

I went looking up some things on wikipedia about the book series of Jeeves and Wooster. And I found this. (I haven't read all the books.)

Jeeves is a member of the Junior Ganymede Club, a club for butlers and valets, in whose club book all members must write down all the exploits of their employers. Thus, butlers and valets can be forewarned before taking up employment with the more infamous employers mentioned in the club book. The section labeled 'WOOSTER B' is the largest in the book. In Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit it contained "eleven pages" and by Much Obliged Jeeves it has grown to "eighteen pages". However, at the end of Much Obliged, Jeeves, Jeeves informs Bertie that he has destroyed the eighteen pages, anticipating that he will never leave the latter's employment, thus eliminating the need to inform prospective valets about his employer's quirks; Bertie's answer provides the book with its name.

    awwwwww! :D

    1984
I've finally read Nineteen Eighty- Four. I've been meaning to for years. I'm glad I did but it's not what I was expecting, somehow. I'm not quite sure what I expected, but this wasn't it. I knew it was going to be depressing though, so it wasn't that.

Oh I'm so relieved! I've finally got back quite a bit of my enthusiasm for miniatures! I was at our 'local' miniatures shop today, and Mum and I bought wallpaper and flooring and skirting boards and cornices and picture rails and chair rails for a room box we're making, and I just suddenly got excited about the project(s) again! Great feeling.

    [info]samelthecamel gave me this idea.

    1. Randomly pick a song from your music library.
    2. Find the lyrics for the first four verses/chorus
    3. Go to Google translation and translate the lyrics from English into German.
    4. Take the new German lyrics and translate them into French.
    5. Take the new French lyrics and translate them into English.
    6. Post the NEW English lyrics and have people guess the original song.

When do I become older, my hair henceforth losing many years the will that you send however Valentine greetings to me of a birthday, bottle of the wine? If I became be outside, until the quarter with the door would close you three with key? Do you require me however, the will that you return however me, if I am sixty-furnace? They are also and if you say the word, I could remain with you older

    Another one I think!

They say that we do not have anything in COMMON communal ground at the beginning and we say to you with share, the world between we came which our lives came between us, me know however that you precisely are not interested CHORAL SOCIETY: And I said, which on "the lunch with of Tiffanys?" She said "that I think that I remember film, and I recall, it thinks me, us that both wanted a bischen." And I guaranteed, "who one thing that, we have." I see you - only that is which knew me and now, your eyes by me that, I to see regard which I was so false to which now? One must see normally that us rueber its and me hatred, when things are a surplus - when annuliert so much is left

    Books I Should Read
I want to read more books.
What books would you recommend to me? What books do you just know I'll love, (reminder: I hate tragedy. Really. Just don't.) or do you think 'everyone' should read?
I've put 1984 on my list because a friend is consistently shocked that I haven't read it. :P

    Content Strike
he one-day content strike is on for this Friday, March 21, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT.
For 24 hours, we will not post or comment to LJ. Not in our own journals, not in communities. Not publicly, privately, or under friends-lock.
This is a protest that will have long-lasting effects, showing up forever in the daily posting statistics.
This is a protest that will not harm LJ in the long run, as leaving LJ might do.
This is a protest that will demonstrate the power of community, as all users unite to support Basic users and the concept of adfree space.
This is a protest that will educate the new owners that LJ is driven by user-created content.

    How Can I Help?
DO post about this in your own LJ.
DO post and comment about it in appropriate communities.
DO remember that it's based on Greenwich Mean Time, which may not be your local time.
DO turn off LoudTwitter and your RSS feeds for 24 hours.
DO feel free to friend beckyzoole for updates, and defriend when the strike is over.

DON'T forget to get permission from community mods before making an off-topic post or comment about the strike.
DON'T be spammy with your posts or comments about the strike.
DON'T forget to turn your LoudTwitter and RSS feeds back on when the strike is over.

Why is there a Content Strike on Friday March 21, from midnight to midnight GMT

We are holding the Content Strike because we want to demonstrate that LiveJournal is content-driven.

We are holding the Content Strike because we want the new owners of LiveJournal to better understand the power and resolve of the LJ Community of Users.

We are holding the Content Strike because all of us, Paid, Permanent and Plus users as well as Basic, want to demonstrate our solidarity as a Community of Users. We do not consider Basic users to be freeloaders, we consider them to be valuable content-providers and Friends.

We are holding the Content Strike because we ache to do something to show our displeasure, and commenting on the news post -- even with cat macros -- just isn't powerful enough!

beckyzoole will be emailing and snail-mailing SUP that the strike has four terms:
    1. Restore basic accounts for new account creation.
    2. Inform users before any change to the site that affects how we use the site or demands on our resources.
    3. Run change proposals by the Advisory Board and take their advice into account before implementation of any change.
    4. Homophobia, misogyny, and racism must not be a part of the decision making processes about appropriate content of the site, including what user interests are deemed appropriate.

Last night I had a dream that there was an eel following me around in the house. At one point it grew legs. And I could open the door and be all 'come on! come here!' and it 'ran' outside... but then it wanted to come back in. Woo, random eel following me about!
Someone also set fire to part of my house and for some reason I couldn't call 000. I called, but there was no answer, they didn't take it seriously.

    hmn. Anyone care to interpret?
