Laurafans get stoked!
Hey kidz! Welcome to the latest installment of my journal.

Instead of bitching like I usually do, I have decided to let everyone know all about me! I realized when I uploaded my new user pictures that pretty much no one who reads my journal (both of you) knows what I even look like. Interesting, yes? Well [info]pupuce does cause he bought me dinner. I am currently waiting for the rest of you to contact me for the pleasure of spending an evening with me. I'll only go if you're as cool as David though.

So a warning for [info]jnmadrigal, who has known me way too long, was my Prom date actually, [info]csh82 with whom I spent every day this summer, (That isnt a joke, every day.) and [info]suburbanlegend and [info]rdg who go to college with me, you know most of this shit already! And you know me, everything's a production so we're talking lots of fun images and photos.

No more talk! Let's get down to biz-nass!

Awh! You clicked! You're actually curious to know the girl behind the journal. Or whatever. Okay, c'est parti!

Anyways. Let's start out with the basics: I was born in Madison, Wisconsin on April 20th (yes, 4-20) 1982, to my parents Mary Jane (no joke) and Carl. My dad was finishing his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Go Badgers!

My mom is shy and hides from the camera, but heres a good one of my dad:

title or description

Funny story about these lobsters. My mother was clowning on [info]csh82and myself because we are bad cooks, so she told us to pick out a recipe and we'd do a dinner. Chris and I, being the smartasses that we are, chose lobster. HAHAHA.

and ha! this one from when he was doing his doctorate, I'm linking to it so you can read what he did. His dissertation was dedicated to me. My dad's smarter than yours booyah. My mom works as an aide with special needs kids. She really likes it. Which makes me absolutely stoked for her, and envious.

I have a little sister, her name is Kerry. Here we are this summer:

l and k

We deny any resemblance. We just don't see it. Although we used to fight when we were younger, now we hang out all the time and are best friends. Even though she stole my car. Brat. I lev u!

This is me:

moi

I'm about 5'8'', &$# lbs with green eyes and light brown hair. I'll be 21 on Easter Sunday. I want these things for my birthday:

My Wish List

I grew up in San Marcos, which is a (ghetto) suburb of north San Diego Country. There I met my best friend Ben:

me and ben

God I look like shit in that picture. Ben has been my best friend since age like, shit, 12 or something. Ben's photo, believe it or not, is actually advertised on every "Mode d'emploi" in the Paris Metro system! Funny how that shit works, isn't it?

Ben lives in Fallbrook, which I'm not even sure is technically San Diego or not. It was through Ben that I met [info]jnmadrigal. Jonathan is an ungrateful homosexual, see?:

ungrateful homo

We had many movie nights. Jonathan's dog talks. He drove a really nasty car. A Plymouth Duster, lovingly called "The Dust-bucket" hahaha! He was nominated for Prom King or something our senior year and we went to Prom together, I'll show you the picture but NO LAUGHING:

Prom 2000

Fallbrook is fucked up, but I went to pretty much every one of their dances and football games my junior and senior years. Fun times those were. *Sighs*. Denny's really isn't as cool anywhere else. THAT alone should give you insight into all there is to do in Fallbrook. Yet I made the trek.

I like Britney Spears. A lot. I learn the dances, I buy the albums. Deal with it. I have my reasons, if you want to know, ask, but you'll feel bad that you did, if you were coming to clown on me. Just warning you ahead of time.

Anyways, after spending my high school years raising hell at The University of San Diego High School:

UNI

I grew up and headed out to the east coast, namely, Boston College:

BC ariel

Word. This is where I met these clowns:

Welch 412 and scott

My sophomore year roommates and friends 4 eva Krissy, Nikki, Brittany and Scott, aka [info]suburbanlegend. This was taken from a party in Worcester, Massachusetts (yeah, i know, wtf right? ;-)) to celebrate (read: cry and get stupid drunk) me and Nikki:

Nikki

leaving for Paris. Nikki is the coolest roommate in the entire world. Everyone should comment to this entry saying how beautiful she is, cause she doesn't know it all the time. Silly girl.

Here's a photo from the same party, dubbed the "bon adios" by Krissy, of Krissy and myself being drunk and *trying* (and failing) to be sexy:

so sexy

Rowr!

Krissy and her boyfriend, Erik are cute:

and always fun to cause trouble with. I used to drink with them fairly often last year at Boston bars and in the dorms. Krissy and I liked Wonderbar, but they won't let in the riff-raff like Erik so we had to head further down Harvard Ave to The Kinvara, or the Ninth Circle of Hell as I prefer to call it.

That same night Erik dove into a bush in the BC dustbowl

Dustbowl

Hah. Good times. Battlescars and whatnot.

I began my freshman year at BC as pre-med double major in psychology and art history. I quickly dropped the concentration and psych major and became the full-time art fag that I am today. My favorite artists are:

Mondrian
Mondrian

Matisse
Matisee

Munch
Munch Madonna

and Wessleman
great american nude

I hate Salvador Dali and Georges Mathieu. I have a popular post entitled "Why I hate Salvador Dali" if that gets you going.

I like boys way too much. My recent failure concernes a heartbreakingly adorable painter named Jean-Baptiste. He doesn't seem to care for me much anymore. Oh well.

I have the cutest pets in the world. You might think you do, but you are wrong. Here is my dog, Nikko:

Nikko

and my cat, Caymus. Now I've had Caymus since the I was very young, and I love her a lot, so don't front. This means you, [info]suburbanlegend:

caymus

I have a crowd of the best best friends in the whole world. In addition to the aforementioned Ben, and excluding my sister who is one of my best friends but I'm talking non-family we have:

Chris [info]csh82
This is us at Charles De Gaulle airport when he came to visit me in Paris in December:

laura and chris

and this is us at a Padres game: (sometimes we get stupid and think we are thug)

thugs

Chris gave me this lobster puppet to take places in France. His name is Herr Lobsterkopf. He tends to take over French buildings and whatnot:

lobster

He even got to meet Jack Johnson. And yep, thats me behind them. Word.

Jack Johnson and lobster

hehe. Anyways, moving on to

Jean
I wish I hada photo of Jean scanned in, but until I do suffice it to say shes a cute redhead who's way to smart for her own good. Pretty much the only person I keep in touch with from high school, and there's a good reason for that, trust me.

Nikki

Probably the best roommate in the entire world. She gets much love. *love*. She loves me too, see?:

Nikki love

Erin and Kyle

Erin and Kyle

Cuties, no? I set them up and they dated for a long time. I like this picture cause they look sweet, but trust me, they can be pretty gnarly. Awh, I love you guys.

Alright enough of those clownshoes. Back to me.

I am currently spending my junior year abroad at La Sorbonne:

sorbonne

Hot, yeah? My classes are ridiculously difficult, and I have one professor who seems to seriously dislike Americans. He's cute though, and I have a crush on him. I wish he would quit bitching and take me out to dinner. Me-ow.

I currently live in the 15th district of Paris, but on May 2nd I will be moving to Montmartre:

Montmartre

*sweatin'* If you've seen Amelie, its where she lives. The church on the hill and all that. Hot hot hot.

Anyways, this brings me to my conclusion and a question suggested by Scott, [info]suburbanlegend. Lately, I've been bigtime struggling with this whole Paris thing. Losing friends, crap about the war and whatnot. My grades are falling as well. The question is: Do I transfer to Paris, or do I go back and finish at BC, then maybe come back?

Alright kidz! If you're still here (which you're not-Malkovich) thanks for reading, and I really hope you enjoyed a glimpse into my life!

Now, everyone on my friends list, DO THE SAME!

Live Love Make Art,
Your Queen.

Thanks for saying I look good though, made my day!

First up, there's no way I can do one of these "All About Me" things - I'm too computer illiterate. I don't know how to make my pictures small like that. I feel inadequate. Very inadequate.
And no one better suggest Laura stay across the pond! We need her here!
Your dog is frickin adorable. Your cat is a cat. I'll bite my tongue, I have to make friends with them, since they, along with a large drafty house and a surgically attached Bloody Mary, are my future.
With regards to your wish list:
A) I approve of anything Edgar Allan Poe related. He was the first non-children's author I attempted to read. I would sneak in to the spare room of our house (known to me as the Boo-boo room, because it was bare and gave me splinters) to get my mom's old dusty Poe anthology. I would cross out the stories as I read them. Yeah, I was messed even then.
B) "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern" is definitely great.
C) I hate "Heart of Darkness." With a burning passion. The arguments I got in to with my HS English teacher about that piece of crap. I love you, anyway.

I know nothing about Munch, but I want a print of that.
This was definitely a quality entry ;)

Heh. I got a hacked version of ACDSee that makes it super easy to make my photos small. And yeah, this was quite the effort, but it beats the hell out of banging my head against the wall cause I can't get into the libraries because they are plein of French schmucks.

A. Poe owns. Have you read Edgar Lee Masters' Spoon River Anthology? Same spooky poetry stuff. I love Fall of the House of Usher and the Cask of Amancantspellitanymore and ALL of the poetry. The bells bells bells bells bells bells bells.

B. I am SUCH a Hamlet freak. Like, I've read the play 30 times or so, and never gotten around to R and G are dead. Shame.

C. Yeah yeah. Nik hates Heart of Darkness too, but I figure its $1.50 and I should at least try and read it. Nothing can be as bad as Walden.

Glad you like the Munch. The "Madonna". Its got that lovely Virgin Mary mid-orgasm quality. A favorite during my "Psychoanalytic Approaches to Art" seminar, and we actually had it exhibited at BC our freshman year in the McMullen. Did you go? No? Shame on you.

You liked my entry? I added two photos including me at prom! Whoohoo! I love you and miss you!

I had no idea! I guess its due in part to the fact that i never ventured out there me being from podunk little north county. I do however consider Fallbrook a part of the beloved city. Hmm i guess that is all i had to say i really thought I might comment more after reading so much ...

Well you would have had to go to class some since you are (were) at Boston College... As for UNI it was the general consensus (that being the opinion of the boys) but i suppose there is an exception to every rule. And while on the subject of North County.. Lifehouse is playing at MC prom which I find so random, though no one here seems to care (none of my roomates being from NOrth COunty let alone San Diego ...poor saps)...

I was walking home today thinking about this.
I think the UNI boys get that reputation because they are forced to wear uniforms, so they all have that tousled-yet-preppy thing that so many of us chicks are suckers for.

Lifehouse? You have bands at prom? We had DJs. Awh, I really miss the Prom. My favorite thing about high school, really.

So true so true.. that is a very attractive look indeed (the prep that is. No we didnt have bands at prom while I attended MC. Some girl entered a contest at NOrth County Fair you know that whole we are now westfield malls so we are cool thing. Anyway it was at pennys to win a prom dress that was " to die for" (not my words) and she won the whole kitten caboodle (?) and now lifehouse is playing at MC prom which is to take place at the la jolla yatch club (i think) and be a red carpet affair, how swank...

Maybe if MC was forced to wear uniforms we'd have had a better turn out? (one would hope) Although i've heard since the new highschool opened (westview I believe) The Mount is looking pretty shabby, in more ways than one...
