LjSEEK.COM Search service experiencing downtime.
Our search service is temporary unavailable. We're working on problem
resolution and will try to fix it as soon as possible.

Technical Details:

Our main search index server is having hardware problems right now - it
just powers off itself during times of high load. Unfortunately our
hosting provider was yet unable to resolve the problem.

We still can't get our main index server up so we temporary activated small index which contain about 10% of posts - the most recent ones.

We'll rebuild larger index, but it will take some time. The remaining hardware we have unfortunately can't handle full index, it will become available once we're able to fix the server, which is currently down.

First. Actually even though we were conservating reporting everything as being fixed it works without any problems last couple of days. The box self healed itself. The every few hour crashes dissapared same musterous way as they came.

We do not index friend only entries at this point, it is in our plans however to be able to optionally do so on user request.

Well... Actually it does for a while now. The problems were fixed in a fewdays... actually by speeding up moving to the new servers. If you have spotted any problems let us know.

Hm, perhaps it doesn't work in the Opera browser?

I put in text in the search box and all I get is

No Results matching your search criteria could be found.

Well... It should not be opera.

This message with "ATTENTION" only existed on old host, so I guess your DNS is really stale. It was changed few weeks ago now so it is very strange it is happening.

You may try to run "ping www.ljseek.com" and see which IP it is pinging. Correct address is 64.62.134.182

Anyway thanks for reporting this we really appreciate it.

Hm, when I ping ljseek.com, it comes up with the old IP, but when I run nslookup, it comes up with the new IP. And the odd thing is, this isn't the only computer that this occurrence has happened.

Sorry I missed notification for some reason.

Is it still happening ? I've just checked both name servers with NSLOOKUP and I can only get new IP. Can you show me how your NSLOOKUP output looks ?

For some bizarre reason, the nslookup comes up with the new IP, when I ping ljseek, it comes up with the old IP, but now the web site seems to be working.

Here are the outputs for both just for the record.

Hm,

Very unusual - nslookup seems to be using localhost for resolving - I'm not sure what ping does (normally it is the same) but as result is different something is wrong.

I would suspect we have cached nameserver misconfigured somewhere which cached www.ljseek.com for way too long.

I've checked the logs on the old ljseek.com box and can see no other accesses to this domain name, so I guess domain is moved correctly on our side.

You can also make sure no one queries your name server unless you allow it by adding something like this to your /etc/bind/named.
