11:19 am - Question meme
|
Stolen from starmind
1)You play one of the most misunderstood "off spec" characters one can find in WoW that is still viable in the 'end game'. How did that come about, and what do you hope to achieve for/with that?
Pakse was originally going to be a spell damage based paladin when I leveled her way back when. However, I got more involved with Avarice raiding and saw what Starkos and Rayen were doing and I liked that a lot more, that and spell damage wasn't and still isn't supported very well. Then, when TBC came out and my confidence in my tanking was shaken, I decided to dust off my paladin and see where I could go with it.
As for what I hope to achieve with it? That's a tougher question to answer. To go as far as Avarice can go with her as an accepted and respected character for the role she provides.
2)The zombie apocalypse will soon be upon us. Where will you be, with who, doing what?
I'd join ranks with my friends delphina and shmitz where ever the action is. I'd either be cleaving them with a BFS (big fucking sword) or setting them all on fire.
3)Where do you hope your schooling will lead you?
I can see my schooling leading me in a couple of directions. One, I could find myself a university after I finish my doctorate and teach/research. Two, I could find a job within NOAA or NASA and do my research there. I plan on being a professional student, if you will. :P
4)You recently had a big move in your life. Looking back on it now...good idea, or bad?
For the most part, I still think it's a good idea. But there are days where I regret leaving a good paying job for a good company and a stable life. But I'm happier doing what I enjoy. A good idea still.
5)You have also started signing up to be a raid leader...are you crazy, or just masochistic? ;P
Crazy. Definitely crazy. :P
Make a comment and I'll see if I can come up with 5 questions for you. :)

11:58 pm - WoW stuff
|
So I did my first instance since the latest patch for WoW came out. I find that I'm very happy with the changes to the paladin retribution tree. I got a huge boost to my damage (perhaps a bit too much) and I didn't pull aggro (and it wasn't due to a lack of trying). I'm quite happy with what I am able to do now.

Portal is eating my soul. Of course, it is entirely shmitz's fault. ;) BTW, your map is evil.
I'm going to go to bed now, before I lose the entire night.

12:28 am - An update!
|
Well, I guess I can start off with what happened on Day 2 of my move.
The drive was for the most part, uneventful. Drove through fucking Nebraska. What in the world do we need with that much corn??
Well, it was uneventful except for our moving truck breaking down. Transmission went. Luckily it appears it was overheated or something and we were able to get going a half hour later. Luckily, we were able to make it to Greeley when it broke down 2 miles from our destination. TWO FUCKING MILES.
So we had it towed to our apartment that night.
****
The move in itself was quite painless. My family decided to stay a few extra days and instead of leaving the morning after, left the following Saturday. They helped me out, bought a lot of necessary supplies and got me all set up and unpacked (mostly). Though I still haven't put up all my books yet. A project for this weekend perhaps?
****
Aside from that, not much has been going on. I spent the entirety of last week trying to get a working schedule. And finally got one today. I'm taking the following classes:
General Meteorology with a Lab Weather Forecasting Seminar Introduction to Literature (Tsaiko, I expect to have weekly conversations with you on this crap :P) Statistics Differential Equations (OMG I'm so rusty at this math stuff!)
This will work out to about 14 hours of class work, so something of a light load.
My advisor and I are going to try and get me a degree in 2.5 years. Wish me luck!
****
In other news, not much has been going on with me. I've been playing WoW a bit, I know that my play time is going to shrink drastically. I know some of my friends from my guild and alliance there read this, so feel free to kick my ass if you think I'm playing too much. :P But some good things have come of note. I was healer lead for our first Magtheridon one shot. That was a stressful venture, and not something I enjoyed. But someone had to do it as our regular leads were absent that day. But I did it and the healing worked out. And I was healer lead as a retribution spec paladin too. :P
Speaking of retribution spec, I managed to beat 700 DPS sustained on our Void Reaver kill. Though maintaining that and not pulling aggro is really difficult to do and I did pull aggro late in the fight, which resulted in my death. The paladin retribution spec could really use some threat reduction talents or abilities.
****
Anyway, enough of my rambling. Classes start at 9:05 for me tomorrow and I'm really nervous and anxious about it. I was writing this when I should have been sleeping but sleep isn't happening right now. Wish me luck everyone, I hope this venture of going back to school doesn't turn into the biggest mistake I've ever made. But I will do my best, and we can only see what happens from here on.

10:35 pm - Journey to the West! Part 1 of 2
|
*Dies*
Packed up my apartment this weekend. We managed to compress a 1200 square foot apartment into a 12 foot Pensky truck. That took some work. Big thanks to my dad and step mom for making it happen. We were all much tired and sore after that.
So I've made a good start on my journey from Raleigh to Greeley, CO today. We got up extra early and started our trek. We made good time and got to St. Louis about an hour earlier than we expected to.
Cara and Tuft were NOT HAPPY(tm) with their situation of being stuffed into kitty carriers all day. Cara was particularly vocal for the first hour and a half. After that she was vocal only when disturbed for the next 4. She was pretty good after that. Tuft was vocal (for him anyway) in that he actually meowed his displeasure for about a half hour or so.
I have another early start tomorrow and will make the rest of my trip to Colorado tomorrow. And then I move stuff into my new apartment on Wednesday.
Until next time.
